  1. Ok. I like it. The "B" as the Mug handle is also very creative. Unfortunately, even though they are called "The Brewers" and the image of a mug of beer may seem innocent, I'm guessing that MLB will not approve any logo on a uniform that symbolizes alcohol. Maybe I'm completely wrong on this assumption.
  2. Hitman, for some reason it took me a while to realize that the sausage was a "1". Creative...however, how do you make a number like "8" out of a sausage?
  3. If someone hit's the can do they get a free year's supply of Mt. Dew? All that green and red makes it look like some sort of holiday setting.
  4. To continue with this tangent "sub-thread", I've never really been that bothered with the Dempster glove wiggle (flippidy-floppidy). I just always assumed it was developed because he was telegraphing certain pitches with subtle glove movements and so he decided to go with an exaggerated but consistent glove movement for every pitch. I could be mistaken, but I think there are a few other MLB pitchers who do something similar for this reason.
  5. I'd be against any design that has the logo on the hat skewed off to one side. Other than that, I thought many of the designs that have been submitted so far have been interesting. Most of them a lot better and more creative than anything I could come up with.
  6. Yes, thanks! Just ordered one for my son for Christmas.
  7. There were other people that voted for Johnson and Jeter, but he was the only one that voted for Ibanez. Almost makes you wonder if somehow this guy got his ballot in late after the playoffs started. What really makes me scratch my head is Sheldon Ocker who gave his 2nd place vote to Beltre and his 3rd place vote to Trout? Huh?
  8. I'm never really thrilled with any of their partial season early payment perks, so we always go with the 5 payment plan option. Now, if they brought back the playing catch on the field at Miller Park perk for early payment, then I might be persuaded to pay early.
  9. When I saw 2 first place votes for Molina, I assumed they were St. Louis writers. They were actually from NY? I don't understand how anyone can think Molina had a better year than Posey or Braun? I guess perhaps the logic is in regards to his importance to the Cardinals. Still, he does not deserve 1st place votes.
  10. Wow, I didn't know any of this. Although, it seems like the county was a bit complicit in this whole thing (they just blindly approved the deal?!?). Still, I'm curious as to what others think would have been the best course of action to save the sinking franchise that is the Miami Marlins. Building a new stadium and adding a bunch of high priced "stars" to the roster ended up netting a 2.2 million attendance. So, that obviously was not the answer.
  11. I'm not trying to say that Loria is a great owner or anything, but I'm wondering what everyone is suggesting he should have done. I think I read a few weeks ago that the Brewers probably lost money this year. The Brewers had the 11th highest attendance (2.8 mil) and the 10th highest payroll ($97 mil according to USA today). The Marlins had the 18th highest attendance (2.2 mil - with a new stadium!) and the 7th highest payroll ($118 mil). If it's true that the Brewers lost money then I have to imagine that the Marlins lost a lot more and may have lost more money than any other team in MLB in 2012. Probably all of that is Loria's fault, but how do you suggest he go about fixing his past mistakes?..... by adding more payroll? Perhaps you think this payroll cut was too drastic? He should have received more in return for these players? I would just be curious to hear what you would have done had you taken over the Marlins at the end of the 2012 season. You don't know what you don't know about a team's financial situation.
  12. Anyone notice the description for this video is incorrect? It states: "5/4/10: Dan Uggla launches a towering three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning, giving the Giants a 6-5 lead"
  13. A few years ago, we started getting calls from a law firm in GA stating that we owed money for something (I don't even remember what they claimed it was for). The person on the other end was extremely rude and threatening. I looked up the firm on the internet and found several complaints of similar calls. We received 2 or 3 of these calls over a 2 or 3 week period and then they stopped. I never reported it and nothing ever showed up on our credit report. Even though it was obviously an attempted scam to try to scare people into paying off a debt that they did not really owe, it was still a little unnerving at the time.
  14. I'm usually able to get tickets from work to one Packer game each year (this year our schedule did not match the games that were available). I only go because of my teenage son who loves to go to the games. Otherwise, I would prefer to just stay at home and just watch on TV, mainly due to what RobDeer 45 stated. I swear that Packer games just seem like an excuse for many to drink as many overpriced beers as possible and act like fools. I'll agree that you do not generally see this at Brewer games to the extent you do at Packer games. I'm not a huge NBA fan, and I can't speak for other NBA venues, but we will occasionally get tickets through my wife's for a Buck's game, and yes, I can't say that I have ever seen someone that was overly drunk (or looked drunk at all) at a Bucks game. It just seems to be a completely different atmosphere. Maybe the fact that it's indoors has something to do with it...not sure.
  15. I'm wondering if this is a one year thing for some of these writers or if they will never vote for Braun going forward. If he continues to pass tests and put up numbers, I'm not sure how they could justify that. If that's the case then they are saying that Braun is still somehow cheating the system. If that's true then it would appear there are flaws in the system and it would be highly improbable that Braun is the only player taking advantage of those flaws. He just happens to be one of the few that got caught (well, that we know of...and, as has been pointed out many times on this site, if things worked like they should have, we should not have even known about his failed test).
  16. I'll add that I was pleasantly surprised with his attitude throughout 2012. When the Brewers were playing there best baseball of the year in August and September you could still hear Morgan trying to pump everyone up from the bench.
  17. So, diminish the integrity of earning the championship ring in order to make the post-season more "watchable" for the casual fan? Hmm...can't say I agree with this. Just because a "one game" play in was more exciting, doesn't mean it was the right thing to do (just ask the Braves!). I'd rather see them go back to 4 teams in each league than have this silly 1 game play-in. If they are going to continue that format, get rid of the divisions and unbalanced schedules in each league and just send the teams with the best 5 records to the playoffs (with 4 and 5 playing each other in a one game play-in). I would also rather cut the season to 154 games than do anything that would cut the number of playoff games.
  18. My biggest worry is not the lack of interest in the post season, but the drastic steps that will eventually be taken to "correct" it. I honestly would not be surprised that if in 20 or 30 years the following 3 things happen in order to appease the lowest common denominator in our population: A) Season cut to 125 games B) A 15 second (or shorter) "pitch clock" is introduced. C) The home plate umpire is eliminated and replaced with a tennis style electronic strike zone (or at the very least the HP umpire no longer calls balls and strikes). I could also see shortening games to 7 innings or limiting the amount of pitching changes. All of this would be sad and unnecessary in my humble opinion.
  19. Well, I think the answer is simple, but different. The American public has an attention span that has steadily decreased over the years from over-stimulation. I think right now it's similar to that of a gnat. If there is not "constant motion" (meaning constant player movement) or a certain amount of violence, or touchdown dances, or other types of showboating, it just isn't appealing to a large part of the viewing public. I was at the Wisconsin game on Saturday and the woman behind me kept complaining that A) the game was boring and B) there wasn't enough passing. Boring?..a 17-13 OT game..boring? Yikes. I have coached youth baseball for the last 9 years. One of the Dads from the team once said to me that when he goes to a Brewer game he hopes for a 10-8 game. He finds low scoring games (3-2, 4-2, etc), to be boring. *Sigh* I love baseball. I found last nights game to be very entertaining. I think many people turn on the game, see a pitcher staring at a hitter and can only handle that for about 2 or 3 minutes before they are distracted by something shiny. They can't appreciate any form of entertainment that's not obvious or in their face.
  20. Ok, so normally the media overhypes these storms with terms like "Storm of the Century", etc. However, it appears that this time, the storm will live up to all the hype. This thing is a monster! The eye has not even hit the coast yet and the cloud cover extends over Lake Michigan right now. If you are downtown right now and look over the lake, the clouds you see are moving West. They are part of Hurricane Sandy! http://www.intellicast.com/Local/WxMap.aspx?location=&layers=0014,0040
  21. Would have been interesting if the Tigers had won last night. They are predicting 40mph wind gusts in Detroit tonight and they probably would not have been able to play tomorrow night either. Maybe they would have moved game 5 to Miller Park.
  22. There are a lot of people that work downtown and live west. I think it's crazy that we have to look for "alternate routes" out of downtown on a permanent basis, especially after they just rebuilt the entire Marquette interchange in order to make travel through the interchange EASIER. The whole design seems to have been very poorly thought out when it comes to people leaving downtown. I was listening to WTMJ on the way home yesterday. I didn't hear the full story, but it sounded like next week sometime the DOT is going to come out with some news about alternate design plans for 794 out of Milwaukee.
  23. People who feel the need to crowd the boarding door at the gate, then glare at you and make comments as you get on the plane before they do when they call for elite and first class boarding, Reading this reminded me of this:
  24. Wow, I had know idea that the Braves/Blue Jays were a yearly "rivalry". Sounds like they started matching up teams geographically and they were left with these two teams at the end of it all. I guess I never really paid attention to all the "rivalries" that MLB had set up in interleague play. I also never thought about the fact that because the NL had 2 more teams than the AL that there were probably 2 NL teams that did not have a yearly "rivalry" (prior to Houston moving to the AL). Was Atlanta one of them? Or maybe the Rockies and Diamondbacks? San Diego? I'm curious now.
