  1. I'm guessing some replies to this post will completely downplay the situation with "this stuff happens" type response. However, I'm comlpletely, 100% with you big blast. It is completely inexcusible for a MLB player (especially one with a multimillion dollar contract) to have this kind of a lapse during a game. My only curiousity would be if Ed Sedar usually informs the guys on 2nd and 3rd of how many outs there are. If so, did Ramirez just not pay attention to him? If Sedar is not in the habit of reminding runners how many outs there are, I wonder why? Do 3rd base coaches generally do this in MLB. I coach youth baseball and I know we are constantly reminding the runners of the current out situation. Seems like a simple thing to do to be on the safe side. Regardless of whether Sedar told him or not, this error falls completly on Ramirez's shoulders and it's really bothersome to me. I agree that it shows that his head is not completely in the game.
  2. So..you were correct.
  3. I actually read that last part, "Certainly an innocent athelte would want that opportunity", as a dig at Braun. As in, ok MLB is asking Das to hold off the report, but why is the players union? If Braun is innocent shouldn't they be fighting to get the details of that report released (even though it's not a report that would be made public...although I have a feeling somehow it would be).
  4. Ok just did Eric Heiden and it took 40 questions to get him. The thing kind of flipped out though. It's first guess after 20 questions was Arnold Schwartenager. Then it started repeating questions. It asked me if my character was American twice (which I answered "yes"). Then it asked me if my character was German?? Then at some point after the 30 question mark it asked me if my character was female, even though that was one of the first questions it asked me. The only odd question I got (like question 15 or something) that I didn't really know how to answer was "Is your character big?" I answered "I don't know"...Big is kind of relevant. When he was skating he had huge legs, but I'm guessing he's not quite as big as he use to be. I was shocked that it got it after the 40th question because I thought it was starting to get on the right track at around the 30th question (After the 30th question it guess a figure skater - I think it was Brian Boitano) and then it just started asking me a bunch of questions that had nothing to do with Sports, Olympics, Speed Skating...etc.
  5. I posted in one of the in-game threads this year how impatient everyone looks at the plate. I don't think the Brewers, in general, have been known to be exactly selective at the plate over the past 3 or 4 years (sorry, don't have numbers to back this up), but it just really seems to stand out to me in this young season.
  6. People thought a hot streak was imminent for Andruw Jones in 2007/08, but it never came. I know it's a pretty safe bet to say that Braun will hit better than .261 or that Grienke will have an ERA below 5.00 by the time the season is over, but I have watched baseball (and sports in general) to know not to assume anything. It's kind of like investments. If you pick all of your investements based solely on past performance, you are probably going to have some dissapointing returns.
  7. I had no idea that Jamie Wright was still pitching in the majors. I guess mainly because I don't follow the AL too closely and that's where he's been the last several years.
  8. A player's peak years are generally between 27 and 32. If Hart was 35 or 36 I could understand your snarky comment, but he is 30. His skills should not be declining at this point.
  9. I guess what is frustrating to me is that I truely believe that 4 or 5 years ago Hart not only makes these plays, but makes them look relatively easy. I can not get over how slow he is now. I guess it could have something to do with his height and that age takes a toll on longer legs quicker than someone who is 5 or 6 inches shorter. I also realize that the knee surgery certainly may be having an affect, but as was mentioned, he seemed to be just as slow last year. I completely agree with GormanHarvey in that he took a bad route to that ball last night and it should have been caught (and he got a horrible jump on it...I was at the game. I watched Hart right after the ball was hit and I thought...GEEZ...GO!). I guess I'll just have to disagree with some others on this thread. To me it's painful to watch him labor to try track down balls that seem to be very catchable. I'm not saying it's a lack of effort on his part, but that still doesn't mean that it's still not frustrating to watch.
  10. I'm getting increasingly frustrated with Cory Hart's defense and lack of range/jump on balls hit towards the gap. Although, the Brewers won the last two games, it seems like they could have avoided "walk off" situation games if Hart had made some better plays. He wasn't charged on an error for any of these but... A) Tuesday night-The ball hit to shallow/mid right field that Weeks took instead of Hart (weeks then lost the ball on the transfer after having to stop his backward momentum). Now, perhaps this was Weeks fault for not letting Hart get it, but I wonder if he felt he had to go get it because he wasn't sure Hart would get there (based on Hart's lack of range) or I wonder why Hart did not emphatically call him off. The runner on 3rd should have never scored on that. B) Tuesday night - Ball hit near the line that Hart trys to make a sliding catch on, over slides it a little, hit's his glove and drops. I'm pretty sure this cost the Brewers a run. I think an average fielder with average speed/range like Morgan or Aoki gets to that ball and makes the catch without having to leave their feet. Any ball hit towards the line, even if it's a lazy fly ball, seems to be a mile away for Hart. C) Last night - First inning ball hit towards the gap. Again, ball goes off the tip of Hart's glove and to the wall. Again, I believe Morgan or Aoki get that ball. I'm not saying we take Hart's bat out of the lineup in favor of Morgan or Aoki, but I just don't see Hart continuing to be an outfielder for many more years. I see either 1st base or AL DH in his future. What kills me is that as little as 4 or 5 years ago I thought he was one of the fastest players on the team and I thought his defense was underrated. He had 23 SBs in both 2007 and 2008. How does a player seem to lose so much speed in such a short time? He's only 30. That's not that old!
  11. Got Ted Baxter on 20+ tries. Could not guess Rick Santelli.
  12. Any way to get K-Rod's salary fixed (and any other updates that need to be made) so that the totals compute on the bottom of the Salaries page? Thanks.
  13. Well, imho, they (Sabathia) had one taken from them in 2008 by the official scorer.
  14. Is it just me, or do the Brewers seem to be exercising no patience at the plate tonight?
  15. Hmmm...so this isn't the "H8er's going to H8" t-shirt, is it? I just ordered this last week for my son's birthday tomorrow. I hadn't received it, nor did I get a tracking number, so I sent a follow up email and the guy emailed me back saying that there was a back order of that shirt, but it would go out this afternoon and we would proably get it on Monday.
  16. I had the opportunity to be at the Masters on Sunday. I was on the 10th hole at the end. It was great. Anyways, that's not really my "random thought". While down there and driving back and forth from Atlanta's airport and Augusta, I and the people I went with could not help but notice how many abandoned cars seem to be on the freeway. Especially as we got closer to Atlanta. I have also noticed this in other states I have visited such as FL and AZ. It's rare to see an abondoned car along side the freeway in WI and when you do it usually has an orange sticker on it (from the sheriff's department or State Patrol). It almost seems like an acceptable practice to just park your car along the interstate in some states.
  17. I haven't really understood all the comments about the Miami uniforms since the day they were presented. The word Miami has some different colors in it and it's a different type of font, but other than that they seem fairly basic. Nothing drastically different than any other teams uniforms. I'm just not seeing what the big deal is.
  18. Since when? When i worked there, we never turned people back just because they didn't have a club level ticket. Heck, never even checked them. I've gone in there myself many times(albeit not in 2 or 3 seasons, as i usually don't park by home plate) and never had a problem. Exactly! The tickets at the Club Entrance scan the same as at every other gate. I have entered at the Club Entrance approximately 60 times over the past 4 seasons, and have never had an issue. I just hope this doesn't make my wait longer now! Shhhhh!!!! What is wrong with you people? This is supposed to be a secret! We use that entrance 50% of the time.
  19. According to an article today by Haudricourt and Rosiak in the Journal/Sentinel, Roenicke is complating moving Lucroy from the 8 spot.
  20. Not sure what you are referring to. The one with Rodgers??
  21. Never mind - After talking to my son he has decided he does not want it anymore. He was actually already having 2nd thoughts about it, but was concerned that we had already bought it for him.
  22. Thanks for the info Patrick. What you said is kind of what I thought. Although, what if he's not playing online? What if he's just playing a game like MLB the show by himself against the system and then wants to stop midgame on the PS3 and continue on the Vita? I know he needs to also own the game (for an extra $40) on the Vita, but does he need to have WiFi or 3G to continue to play it? As far as I know, he didn't need wifi or 3g to play the game on his PS3 - so why would he need it to continue the game on his Vita (other than when he "downloads" the information from that game onto his Vita)?
  23. So, my son wants a Play Station Vita for his birthday. I had a bunch of questions about how this system works and went to the website to find out more, but I'm still not sure I understand. So, I thought I would use the great knowledge database that is Brewerfan.net 1) Looks like you have to pay a monthly fee for 3G (either $15 or $30 per month depening on the amount of data). I'm not going to pay for this and my son can't afford it (He's going to be 14). So, if he didn't use 3G at all is there any mobility to this device if he can find a WiFi spot (like in our house)? 2) I think he's mainly intreaged with the being able to continue a game on the Vita that you started on your PS3. How does this work? Does he also have to puchase the same game and download it on to Vita? If so, at what cost? Also, can he do this through WiFi, or does it have to be through 3G? Thanks for any help on this.
  24. When shopping for a car (as my wife and I are doing now), I have always referred to this site that gives a lot of information regarding negotiating the car price. There is actually almost too much information on this site (he tends to repeat himself alot in the advice he gives). http://www.carbuyingtips.com/
