  1. Just curious, what do you consider to be above-average totals for a minor league first base prospect?
  2. I say start Lohse every day for the remainder of the season. Brewers need to go all-in on that #1 pick. No one else starts.
  3. IMO, Thornburg is done as a starter. If Blazek and Smith beat out Davies and Cravy (and whomever else, including Thornburg), then Davies and Cravy (which is fun to say) go back to AAA. I don't believe their development will be hurt by it. Heck, pitching in Colorado Springs is as good a test as there is for a pitcher. If the Brewers just say, "Well, Smith and Blazek have been doing well in the bullpen, so there's no way we could take them out of the bullpen," the Brewers are dolts, and they lose the chance at creating extra starting pitching depth more or less out of thin air. Again, I'm not saying that either one is a sure thing as s starting pitcher at this point, but there is next to no harm in trying.
  4. Taylor Brennan could turn some heads next year in Biloxi, but realistically the Brewers' third baseman of the future is probably in rookie ball. Of our main OF prospects, I'd move Roache to 1B first.
  5. Next spring Blazek should absolutely be stretched out as a starter, as should Will Smith. If either (or both) of them cracks the rotation and are effective, it increases their value to the team immensely. If either (or both) are beaten out by other pitchers for starting roles, so be it.
  6. I feel for him, but he also walked 28 guys in 32 innings. Not sure that translates well to MLB.
  7. If they claim Valencia, fine, but I don't think they should waste their time with it. I was hoping they'd go after a younger project at the trade deadline, like Mike Olt. Obviously that didn't happen. Maybe this offseason.
  8. Malik Collymore making his Helena Brewera debut this afternoon, hitting second and playing left field.
  9. Josh Roenicke has a -3 game score through 2.2 innings. Didn't know a negative game score was possible - learn something new every day.
  10. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/dodgers-designate-preston-guilmet-for-assignment.html Throws a fastball, cutter, and slider. Fastball/cutter sit in the high 80s, slider in the low 80s.
  11. Parra's career Fangraphs WAR per 162 games is about 2.0. He's definitely been above replacement level.
  12. Guilmet doesn't throw very hard, but he has gotten results for the most part in the minors.
  13. Won't is probably strong. If there's nothing structurally different with his back now than when the Brewers traded for him, it would be a matter of opinion of the acquiring team's medical staff. Clearly the Brewers' staff, which is pretty highly regarded, thought he was worth the risk. His back negates his value, but does not make him untradeable.
  14. Cotts might be an August guy. Brewers aren't getting much back no matter where he lands. I'm hopeful something happens with Lind. It's been quiet on KROD, Segura, Lucroy, and everyone else, so I suspect nothing will happen with them. Then again, the Brewers always seem to make things happen without much warning.
  15. Brewers should offer the Mets a steaming pile of garbage - literally a steaming pile of garbage - for Matz and ask them if they think the steaming garbage pile is injured.
  16. Wonder if they'll call up Matt Long, Kyle Wren, or Michael Reed to give them a second CF option.
  17. Davies is not on the 40-man, but if I'm doing my math right, he'll need to be added after the season. Obviously has all of his options remaining.
  18. I'm still trying to figure out how he's a top 30 prospect.
  19. Colby has rationalized my support of the QO path for Parra. Huzzah!
  20. I kind of wonder if they'll switch Roache to 1B at some point, but unless Ramirez gets promoted (which maybe he should), it won't be now.
  21. Thanks, Sandy. Much love.
  22. WORST TRADE EVER OMG. Just so we can get that out of the way. Now no one else has to say it.
  23. I bet it's a three team deal somehow involving Wilmer Flores.
