  1. Gomez is in the starting lineup tonight, along with Parra and Lind. Can't wait to see the response he gets.
  2. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/blue-jays-to-acquire-david-price.html Daniel Norris is going to Detroit, plus some as yet unknown players.
  3. Wow - glad Melvin balked at giving up any combination of the things mentioned. The Mets really have egg on their face after this.
  4. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/brandon-moss-trade-cardinals-indians.html There goes Adam Lind's most likely landing spot, though the Cardinals could potentially add Moss and Lind.
  5. Gonna go out on a limb and guess that the Brewers won't be making any trades with the Mets in the near future.
  6. It's almost worth it just to see the PR fallout the Mets are going to have to deal with. How embarrassing.
  7. Maybe Flores took a tumble down the ramp to the clubhouse after slipping on his own tears?
  8. Did Alderson specify which Gomez was not going to be a Met? Maybe he was talking about Hector.
  9. Considering that Parra, Lind and Cotts are likely to be traded, plus who knows who else, and who knows who we're getting back, any 2016 lineup you conjure up at the moment is probably not worth the effort. I like this trade if no other reason than it seems like the Brewers are leaning towards actually rebuilding a little bit. Hopefully we will see another handful of veterans traded away in the next few days as well.
  10. Locking this as the trade discussion has been moved to the Major League forum.
  11. Flores has a bunch of power, and while he isn't quick enough for shortstop, he fits well at third.
  12. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/mets-to-acquire-carlos-gomez.html Deal is pending physicals. Or not. See the carnage ensue beginning with post #185.
  13. He's not Logan Schafer?
  14. A QO for Parra isn't the most ridiculous idea in the world if for some reason they can't get commensurate value in return. He's been worth more than $16MM twice in his career according to FanGraphs, and will be right around that mark again this year. Another consideration is that the Brewers only have about $60MM in salary commitments next season, and $7.25MM less than that if they trade KROD. If they aren't using their payroll capacity to get to the playoffs, it could make sense to make a gamble that Parra repeats his production and that they could try and trade him again next year. Plus, given recent QO history, Parra may be likely to reject the QO anyway. Which is not to say I think it should even get to that point. I am positive there is a strong market for Parra this year and if Melvin can't deal him, something in the Brewers' process went pretty wrong.
  15. Parra has less of a track record than Zobrist and despite his attempt this spring, doesn't play the infield in addition to the outfield. I think it's fair to say that Zobrist has more (at least perceived) value. This probably does go some way toward defining the market return for Parra, though.
  16. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/royals-to-acquire-ben-zobrist.html Zobrist to the Royals for pitching prospects Aaron Brooks and Sean Manaea. Manaea was drafted 34th overall in 2013 and was KC's #3 prospect according to BA entering the season, but hasn't pitched much this year. Good get for the Royals, and probably doesn't impact the Brewers' trade market much.
  17. Yuni started 46 games at first in 2013. NEVER FORGET.
  18. I bet Lind could put up a 3.25 ERA with the Cards.
  19. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/adam-lind-cardinals-trade-target.html
  20. The #1 pick from the last draft, Oscar Hernandez, had about 400 PA in the Midwest League prior to being picked. Pick #6, Jandel Gustave, had 79 IP in the Midwest League. The #5 pick, J.R. Graham, never made it out of low-A ball either. But that's all the further research I'm going to commit to at the moment.
