  1. As of 2:10pm CDT, the AZL Brewers are winning. About as rare as... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSW9kWIRCOQ. Edit: As of 2:11pm CDT, they are no longer winning. Sorry to get excited.
  2. Alderson said that the Mets were going to get someone with MLB experience, and some success there. Not many other healthy players who fit that bill beside McClendon.
  3. That segment to close Raw was pretty great. My favorite thing about it was Punk's Curb Your Enthusiasm reference when he kept calling Johnny Ace "Funk Man."
  4. Jorge Lopez received a $690,000 signing bonus. That's currently the highest bonus given outside of the first 65 picks and well over the slot recommendation of $520,000. He is being assigned to Maryvale, as expected.
  5. Muted somewhat with the demotion of Happ to AAA.
  6. West has been regularly at 87-89 this summer, mainly with the 2-seam.
  7. Does he play the outfield?
  8. So, what happened to Matt Franco was... he was sliding into second base after a passed ball and the throw from the catcher hit him in the face, knocking out some teeth. He's ok, but it'll obviously be awhile before he's back.
  9. This is completely deficient roster management. They knew Dowell was going to be out for 2-4 weeks, Houle at least 4 weeks, Franco is out after being HBP a few days ago, Garfield is pretty much done for the year, they must have been thinking about sending Macias out to Helena or Wisconsin for at least a little while and Ozuna hasn't been 100% healthy in weeks. You have to be able to find some position players, be it from the DSL or college kids off the street, to fill the roster in. Ridiculous.
  10. C/1B/OF Steve Felix has been promoted from Arizona to Helena.
  11. The Stars have been postponed as well.
  12. However, it looks like you won't be using nfljerseysupply.com again.
  13. It's Maverick Lasker's turn in the rotation.
  14. Nashville Sounds game notes.
  15. The DSL Brewers have been postponed again. You can't make up ground that way. Interesting note: if you look at the standings above (taken from MiLB.com), you'll see the DSL Marineritos are -0.5 games back. They're beating themselves?

  19. Kjeldgaard has big power, but I don't see him hitting for any average in MLB. While K rates are moderately useless in the big leagues, they are often very good predictors in the lower minors. Dude strikes out a lot. Big, long swing. I'd like to see Marzec get a little more consistent before he becomes the rare 23 year old A-ball reliever who makes the list.
  20. I mentioned this on Twitter, but I'll say it here too. Hall's curve looked a lot better today than it did when he had that no-hit bid a few weeks ago. At least it did for the 2 innings I got to peek in on. Seemed to have a lot more depth where as before he was just spinning it up there. Hall is getting a lot of flyballs, but as he gets more consistent with his slider and curve, he'll start to be more of a groundball guy. I love his delivery, too. Really think he has the chance to be a good one if he can rediscover a few more MPH on his 2-seam.
  21. I like Gagnon more for three reasons: better body, chance to have four MLB average or better pitches, better control. I like Nelson too, though, and probably more than most here. If he's able to get his change-up to even average status, he'd be right there with Gagnon. I had them at 5 & 15 on my ballot, FWIW, and I think I may have shorted Nelson a few spots.
  22. It wasn't a strike, but what there's no reason for is Molina going completely insane over it. I mean, totally nuts. I've always thought that guy was a goon, and maybe I was right.
  23. Schaub throws in the mid 80's, touching the low 90's, with his fastball. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Can get good downward bite and run on his 2-seam. Slider has potential to be a good pitch. Like most young pitchers, still working on a change-up. What do I win?
  24. "Someone must have been relaying the sign for "hanging curveball" from the scoreboard in centerfield..." !!!
