  1. I'm curious to hear what DPR stands for. I don't get it.
  2. I submitted a ballot. That's as far as I went with this one. Granted, I do submit a mean ballot. Great job, Jim.
  3. Well, Parra and Kintzler won't be traded because they're injured and won't be back before 9/1.
  4. Dan Szymborski gave me the ZiPS MLB rest-of-season projection for Green: .261/.330/.415, which I teased out to be a .326 wOBA.
  5. ZiPS wOBA projections for the rest of the season, FWIW: Hairston: .326 McGehee: .312 Betancourt: .301 Lopez: .294 Wilson: .289 Counsell: .287
  6. I agree with this. The power bomb botch was pretty bad. Entertaining on the whole, though, and one of Cena's best matches.
  7. LHB v Gonzalez, '09-'11: .225/.282/.357 (222 PA). He's owed what's left on his $6M salary for the year and will be a free agent with no compensation. I like.
  8. Other LOOGY-types who may be available/have some value: -Mike Gonzalez -Mark Hendrickson -Trever Miller -Tim Byrdak -John Grabow -Brian Fuentes
  9. Nope. The player simply can't be on the 25-man roster between the time of the trade and the day the PTBNL is announced. Check back earlier in the thread for discussion on this.
  10. Will Ohman has been pretty good this year and is owed about $3M more between this year and next by the White Sox. Not sure how far he'd get in waivers, though.
  11. Those are good points, but they have the Braves winning 4 more games than the Brewers. That's because the two teams have essentially equal talent on their teams. Brewers need luck to make up ground.
  12. FWIW, as of this morning Baseball Prospectus gives the Brewers 2.2% odds of making the playoffs via Wild Card. The Braves have the starting pitching to weather offensive droughts and their bullpen is fantastic. They sit at 71.5% odds to reach the playoffs via Wild Card. It'll be tough, if not impossible, for the Brewers to make up that gap. They give the Brewers 61.6% odds of winning the division.
  13. At the risk of turning this into a Yuni thread, IMO on defense: McGehee is definitely better than Yuni, though he's below average. Braun is definitely better than Yuni, and probably around average. Fielder is probably better than Yuni, though he's well below average. Betancourt is flat-out a wretched defender, one of the worst few in baseball.
  14. I have bad news for you... Ramirez: said he wouldn't waive his full no-trade clause. Ludwick: the Brewers aren't going to get rid of Mark Kotsay to get a slightly better Mark Kotsay. He might be available in August if Pirates fall out of it, anyway. Michael Bourn: why would the Brewers trade for a CF? Clint Barmes: Astros told a bunch of teams they weren't interested in trading him. Look, I'm as bummed as anyone that Betancourt is still the SS, Counsell is still on the roster, Taylor Green, but the Brewers can't make roster moves in a vacuum. They have to be able to trade for players that are available (which Ramirez and Barmes most likely weren't) and are worth the price in prospects relative to the upgrade they're worth on the roster (Bourn is not). The Brewers will probably make some moves in August for another IF and a LOOGY. The IF won't be Jose Reyes and the LOOGY won't be Sean Marshall, so please don't set yourself up for disappointment.
  15. RHP Dan Britt has been activated from the Timber Rattlers' DL. He fills a vacant roster spot. The T-Rats' roster is now at the Midwest League maximum.
  16. Furcal still has to waive his 10-and-5 no-trade rights, so the deal isn't done yet.
  17. Yes. Green was actually eligible for the Rule 5 last year.
  18. Haudricourt is probably right. It's not Green.
  19. Of course, "healthy in a month" from hamate surgery might be closer to healthy in the next few years, so good luck, Dustin Houle. Malcolm Dowell is out with a concussion for a few weeks. May or may not be back by the end of the AZL season.
  20. It's not just that McGehee is hitting poorly, it's a disgrace that you have a hard worker, a grinder, who is killing AAA and you just leave him there to rot. In my 10+ years of writing about this team, I don't think I've ever been more exasperated about a non-move.
  21. The Felipe Lopez trade was technically a minor league transaction, for those keeping track at home. Being discussed here.
