  1. Suppan's offspeed stuff is about as good as I've seen it tonight.
  2. Wow, Hardy! Phillips isn't slow.
  3. I'd like to see Rickie bunt next time up. Seems to be a good way to put a ball in play against this guy because he only throws low in the zone.
  4. Arizona scored a run against him also.
  5. I think one of the Cubs broadcasters said he asked Yost, and the first name that came up was Counsell, then Gross and Bush.
  6. Good bunting AND baserunning by Suppan.
  7. Consommé is battling hard today!
  8. Ugly ABs by the Brewers in the second. Just ugly.
  9. Unless it is a licensed broadcast of MLB by MLB, please do not give out information about (in most cases, illegal) game viewing or state that you have that information.
  10. Oy, the Reds announcers are terrible. The only upside of the Reds feed is that I might be able to catch a commercial for Farmers Dating Service.
  11. Look at it this way - you can get your veggies and have a brat at the same time! Everyone wins.
  12. You made me one of these? Thanks! http://www.bocaburger.com/product_meatless/images/2_3.gif Yummers!
  13. He's not making his major league debut against us so that curse doesn't apply here. I hope he pitches just well enough for the Brewers to win 12-1.
  14. I'm in the middle about this. The story material is obviously good, the acting is decent and the writing has been alright. What's really bugged me is the direction. There's been so much in-your-face cheese going on it's like I'm watching a Hallmark Movie of the Week. For instance, during the trial of the soliders during the first episode, the camera was bobbing and weaving right up Giamatti's nose most of the time. And while he was sick in bed, they did the tacky, stock "wobbly camera going in and out of focus showing he's sick" shot. The series would be a lot better, IMO, if they had stuck to more classical British-style direction... little to no camera movement, multiple angles and about 20% of the close-ups that they've done. The producers should have watched "A Perfect Spy" before making this.
  15. I agree about the CBS HD quality. For my money, NBC has always had the sharpest HD with ABC and Fox on the next tier. I don't watch much of anything on CBS (and now that they canceled Jericho again, its down to nothing beside football), but the picture has almost always been grainy and a bit grayish.
  16. Seven hours til game time and I'm already craving a Boca brat.
  17. Yah, I rarely throw away plastic bags. They can be used for all sorts of things. As for the recycling, does your city also have a hard plastic bin to set by the curb? We have an extra one just to make sure we don't have any unnecessary paper waste.
  18. I always get plastic bags at grocery stores because they take up much less space in landfills. Paper theoretically degrades much better, but when surrounded by the sludge of the landfill, it often doesn't degrade at all and takes up many times the area of plastic. Anyway... Littering is littering. Instead of throwing stuff out of the car window, why not take it home and use it as fertilizer?
  19. Nice to see Wheeler playing second and Wilson playing third for the Power. Wheeler could become a nice little prospect if he can show he can move around on the infield. I know there were some questions about Steffan Wilson's ability to stay on third himself, that he projects as more of a first baseman. Every game he plays at third quiets those questions. And man, I'm gonna have to take a trip down to Huntsville to see this team before they break 'em up.
  20. Theriot was about as out as out gets on that steal attempt. Why isn't Pittsburgh's manager out there screaming at the second base umpire?
  21. I was watching it. That's what happened. Whoever called that play should be fired from baseball permanently.
  22. Dynamite, duh! There's stuff you can buy at garden supply stores (maybe even Target or Wal-Mart) that decays stumps. I think a similar product is made for bush/shrub roots, but I could be mistaken. Wouldn't hurt to call up a garden store and see what they say.
  23. How could I forget... my favorite phone book name of all time is Rosie Cockburn.
