  1. Drink less the night before? Drink more the morning after?
  2. Jeffress was also suspended by Minor League Baseball, same as Salome. Link.
  3. Yes, he is allowed to do those things AFAIK. Jeffress was present at instructionals.
  4. Is Newton going to stay mostly at first base, or will he be moved back to second? Basically same question about Taylor Green, though will he stay at third, or do you think the Brewers see him more as a second baseman down the road?
  5. So is Night Train better than Wild Irish Rose, or is it the other way around? Time for a taste test...
  6. Sex is another classic cure because the enorphins are painkillers and you will (hopefully) sweat out some booze. The best thing is to do something that makes you sweat. No matter how bad you feel, I recommend going for a slow jog and/or brisk walk Homer, I'm not going to say your idea is worse, per se... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Basically, anything that makes you sweat is good. Painkillers are a really bad idea. Gatorade makes me sick, so I just stick with water. Or maybe another beer.
  7. I'd rather have Scott than Hall, but unless Hall is traded for a really great closer, the Brewers won't move him just to clear room for Scott.
  8. Lots of marijuana.
  9. I'd put Hart in CF and Braun in LF until he learns the OF, at which point I wouldn't hesitate to shift Braun to RF.
  10. Mota is signed through next year, at $3.2 mil.
  11. Bonzai! Houston, may I introduce you to Chris Capuano and Zach Jackson.
  12. Yo is no prospect, Yo is a stud.
  13. 46! And then "nidus." Nidus?
  14. As far as I can tell, the scoring is sort of like a GMAT, or similar test. It's very difficult to get a high level without getting the first 10 or so right.
  15. I've gotten up to 44 a few times, but I can't break through.
  16. Even when Baldelli is on the filed, he's not a guy that walks a lot, so no.
  17. I wouldn't view it as upgrading Tony Gwynn, I would view it more as replacing Jenkins It may just be semantics, but I see Gross as sliding into Jenkins' roster spot and Gwynn sliding into Gross' at the moment. If they do nothing else, Gwynn makes the team. If they get another guy and don't get rid of anyone else, Gwynn doesn't make the team. Jenkins was at no point not going to make the team, which is moreso the case for Gross coming into '08 than Gwynn. I agree that I would prefer Kearns and possibly Church, but I don't think it's going to be any easier acquiring Kearns, and Church isn't going to come for free either. I'm much more fine trading Gamel for Kearns (and maybe even Church). They are also both on the right side of 30. I don't love Kearns' contract, but at worst he's $2.5 mil less expensive than Winn and has a better OBP.
  18. Lofton would not cost the Brewers anywhere close to $16.5 million.
  19. If you say we should keep Gross and Mench on the bench, yes Winn makes the team better because he's replacing Gwynn. But is it really worth spending $16.5 million plus talent to upgrade Tony Gwynn Jr.'s roster spot? Getting a guy like Church or Kearns just makes so much more sense.
  20. Or, you keep Mench and Gross for $5 mil and save yourself $3 million on top of the $5 million and get virtually the same production. Not to mention what talent you'd have to give up to get Winn in the first place. The more I think about it, without some major salary relief from the Giants, this is a total non-starter.
  21. My initial thought was TGJ also, but I'd rather play him off the Giants to get something of value from the Padres. Even if you do trade TGJ for Randy Winn, you're still spending $16.5 mil on Randy Winn.
  22. But it's more common to look at the last 2-4 years, yes? What he's done the last 4 years matters much more to me than what he hit as a 24 year old in Tampa. He's hit RHP better recently, and again, there's no way I spend $16.5 mil hoping that trend evens itself back out. I don't know that I'd trade for him period, much less give up anything of value.
  23. 3 of the previous 4 years, he's had a much better OPS vs. RHP. 2007 was the first time since 2003 he had a better OPS vs. LHP. Earlier in his career, it was the opposite, but he seems to be trending towards being a better right-handed hitter. I wouldn't belabor the point if I didn't think the Brewers could really use another guy that could hit well from the left side of the plate pretty well, especially at $16.5 mil. Edit: I check facts good.
  24. The fact that LaPorta might be less than a year away does not entice me to believe that spending $16.5 mil on an aging Randy Winn, plus a starting pitcher and a prospect, is an acceptable intermediate.
  25. Winn's alright, but he's pretty expensive ($16.25 mil over the next 2 years), and will be 35 when his deal is up. He's usually better against lefties than righties, also. He carries a decent OBP, but a lot of that is batting average-driven. Without any salary relief back from the Giants, I wouldn't give up Parra or Gamel. I doubt they'd be willing to take Vargas off our hands, but he and a mid-level prospect would be about the most I'd give for an aging and overpriced Winn. In other words, a likely "pass" from me.
