  1. Balfour has a very live arm, with a decent fastball/slider combo. It seems to be all about control problems with him. Right now I think the Brewers will hold onto him, though that could change if they add an arm before August 1st. I don't see closer potential in the guy, but I do see a decent reliever.

  3. Costas is, IMO, one of the best play-by-play guys of his generation and has been woefully underused and under-appreciated in recent years. I've never really gotten the jerky know-it-all vibe from him that many others have, but hey, some people out there like Tim McCarver too.
  4. Kennard is just a guy, it looks like. Molina stinks at the plate, but you might have thought he could have gotten better value. And replacing him with Jeff Mathis? Ick.
  5. Cantu is only 25. If he has an option or two left, and I'd take him and send him to AAA. But I wouldn't pay much to get him.
  6. Brewer Kids 3 Wins Over Cub Kids Sadly, this doesn't help us in any respect.
  7. They are launching shirt.woot.com to go along with wine.woot.com. And yes, it is over.
  8. Hey guys, I am building a little home recording studio. I've already bought a Mac, so that decision is what it is, but does anyone here have any suggestions for an audio interface? I've had a number of people recommend a Presonus Firebox, but it doesn't have any ADAT outs, and it has few ports altogether. Is it worth spending $100-$200 more for something that has more MIDI ports and an ADAT? Basically, for those of you that record at home outside of a Tascam 424, do the amount of MIDI ports really matter in real world experience? I know you can daisy chain MIDI controllers to the end of the world, but I'm more about separation of each device. And do I need an ADAT? Any thoughts would be appreciated. FWIW, I will need at least two mic preamp ins, two MIDI ins, and I'm planning on using Logic as my sequencer.
  9. I missed the leopard-print mouse. I wouldda bought that. Darn!
  10. I think this thread has to be saved, at least for posterity sake. I mean, Brewerfan helped take a rumor all the way to ESPN! Yay! I mean, we didn't...
  11. It could still behoove the Brewers to low-ball the Marlins with an offer for Willis, use him as a relief pitcher for the rest of the year, and then (hopefully) bring him back rested next year. Will never happen, but just a thought. Heck, he'd be a good pinch hitter, too. The new Kieschnick!
  12. If talking with Terry Ryan about Luis Castillo would get Doug in the door for Matt Guerrier, I'd be all for it. I'd take both of them for a pretty decent package. Castillo would be a great fit for this team in the #2 spot in the batting order. However, I probably wouldn't take him alone because Ryan would want too much for him. The Twins have made no bones about needing another big bat or two in the lineup... how about Jenkins, Aquino, Escobar, and a A-level pitching prospect for Castillo and Guerrier? Or more simply, how about Jenkins for Castillo? I doubt Ryan would go for it, but maybe with a prospect thrown their way? Further Edit: The Twins may even value Joe Dillon a little bit. Nick Punto has been wretched this year at third for the Twins. The Brewers aren't going to trade them Braun, Counsell or Graffy, but they are in such a bit there a guy like Dillon could actually look appetizing to them.
  13. Grayson is pretty solid, from what I recall of him on TV here in the Twin Cities. Certainly better than what's her face.
  14. That AZL team is just a horror show. Wowsa. Usually something good comes out of that league, but the box score gets worse just about every day. The Brewers may need to reevaluate how they are using the league/how they are bringing players into initial competition. As Jim has mentioned a number of times, it's not just that the team sucks, because player development always comes before W/L records. However, it seems like this is just a pit for crappy players. Apparently other teams in the league can fill their rosters with players able to perform at the level the league is in, so why can't the Brewers? Is this just a result have no longer having a DSL/VSL team? Should the Brewers think about bringing that back?
  15. Had to get the lighted USB cable 4-pack for $5. I mean, it's lighted.
  16. This guy is too old to be Andy Partridge, right? David Nelson?
  17. I imagine Donovan Hand must compare somewhat to Mike McClendon... good GB/FB ratio, a college guy drafted in the mid-rounds from a smaller school. Good to see the results so far. And of course, very nice to see Chad Robinson out there.

  19. "There are freaking geeks out there who get ... off on this kind of stuff," Melvin said. Doesn't this pretty much confirm something is going to do down?
  20. At this point, wouldn't they just wait until after the game anyway?
  21. It's a little too early in the day, Barbs.
  22. Does anyone know, if Gwynn played for the Brewers today, and was traded after the game, if he somehow could make it to Florida for the Cincy game, could he play for them tonight? Can you play for two different teams on the same day?
  23. p092.ezboard.com/fbrewers...2289.topic Use that thread until anything is official. Thanks.
