  1. Anyone else not getting the Helena feed?
  2. Roque Mercedes is your Opening Day pitcher for the H-Crew. Yay!
  3. Oh golly, Ricky Helling. That was impressive. This better not be a tease!
  4. The minors only scored 1 run on Sunday... that has to be close to some sort of record for a June calendar day.
  5. Brevard closer Josh Alliston (one of my favorite guys in the organization) has been activated from the Manatees' DL. I couldn't find a corresponding transaction, though I can only hope it is a starting pitcher (Steve Hammond or Yo Gallardo?) to Huntsville. They need more than 4 decent starters, Nichols
  6. nice to see the injured trio of Parra, Jones, and Narron all throw well. Add Josh Alliston to that list, Doug. He must have been activated recently, as he was on the DL. That guy throws hard - if he can stay healthy for a few years, he has a good shot to be given a shot in a big league pen some day. And I hope Parra was pulled because of a pitch count - 4.2 innings is an odd amount of work
  7. I'm not happy about losing any game, but this one really irked me. We won the battle of the starting pitchers in a hotly contested game through the seventh. If I sound cliche, sorry, but good teams don't have their bullpen fall apart in the 8th in these types of games. Matt Wise has fallen apart, and he and the defense couldn't put away the 8-9-1 hitters in the lineup. They couldn't even allow them not to go ahead, or go ahead by more than one. I'm sorry, but if your starting pitcher leaves his heart and soul out on the field for your team to win, you do more than that to pick him up. Matt Wise sucked, and Capellan shouldn't be much less to blame. That's just not acceptable for a playoff-contending ball club. Even if they got into the playoffs, the Brewers would exit early if they can't get stuff like this together.
  8. ***** pathetic. ****** pathetic. What kind of language is allowed? The Brewerfan.net Fan Forums try to be a bit more civil than other venues. All of the main cuss-words are filtered out. If you see that a word you used is filtered out, please try to refrain from using that word again. Also, using creative spellings to avoid the cuss filter will result in warning, then dismissal. Bottom line, if you'd be uncomfortable talking to your neighbor's 10-year-old with the type of language you're going to use here, you should probably re-word your post.
  9. We need some popups now, Matty. C'mon.
  10. Even though it didn't work out well, it was the right move. Now, does our pen have two good innings in there somewhere?
  11. This is the right move. The bottom of the order is up, and Gross represents a much better chance at driving in an insurance run.
  12. Two runs would be even better. This would be a great time for a clutch hit, Damien. Edit: Or not.
  13. They should leave Davis in with the bottom of the order coming up. 104 pitches isn't a tremendous amount, and Inge/Bonderman will hopefully be a quick couple of outs.
  14. Please, please, please, please, please pinch hit for Moeller. Please? Edit: http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Edit 2: http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  15. Nice job by the Brewers' pen today. 1 run allowed over 5 innings in relief of Jackson. And like him or not, Brian Shouse has been very effective for the Brewers, especially over his last seven outings, all of which have been scoreless.
  16. They don't pinch-hit for Jackson, but they relieve him anyway. Nice. And why is Gonzalez' first name spelled "Geremi" now? Edit: And why do I get the feeling he'll be no better than Jackson?
  17. Put it on the board! The Indians must feel really bad now. They should be winning still by at least 2-3 runs.
  18. Zach Jack's first major league hit. Yay. If there's a hit allowed involved, he wants to be a part of it.
  19. Imagine how angry the Indians must be at themselves right now - 9 baserunners in 3 innings, and all they can get is 2 runs. It would be great to win this one just because we're usually on the other side of the fence and it seems like we usually lose these. If Jackson doesn't get it together soon (like in the next few innings), the Brewers may need to see Villanueva one more time in order to make a decision on which one to keep.
  20. Yiy. Zach Jack is getting peppered out there... 6 hits allowed in 2+ innings.
  21. Great to see Rogers turning it around. Hopefully, the Brewers will take it slow and keep him healthy. Exactly. Hopefully he keeps turning it around. If he keeps pitching this well, he may even find his innings limited towards the end of the year, as they should be. I have aboslutely nothing against Mark Rogers. He has a boatload of talent, as much as Neugie and Gold, and I type that while remembering those two (even especially Gold at points) as my favorite prospects of all time. I temper my enthusiasm after witnessing firsthand the downfall of many numerous Brewers top HS pitching prospects before him, including to this point the guy that followed him today, Mike Jones. Hey, Jones even pitched 100+ innings in AA before getting derailed. The road to the bigs just doesn't seem to be a quick or easy one for young Brewers pitchers. Call me jaded if you want, but I just like to lay off of the fanboy praise until he'll show me more than a modicum of good innings pitched with his newfound mechanics. Neugie and Gold also had reportedly refined their mechanics, and Jones had great mechanics coming out of high school. There's so much more than just being able to pitch well with a good motion. Young guys have to get through the injury nexus that Brett talked briefly about, and have to do it while learning how to pitch. It's a tough job to do. I wish Mark the best, and honest to God, I hope he's the savior of the rotation in a few years once we have to fill some holes there. I just won't put a crown on his head and lavish praise on him until I get something more than 20, 30, or even 50 good innings out of him, and probably more.
  22. Whiteside better either get rid of his Myspace page really quick or be subject to a load of ridicule.
  23. And lets be honest, if Rogers was doing this all season, some on this site would be talking about him coming up to replace Sheets by the all-star break. But he hasn't been. He's been doing it, oh, about 20 innings or so. That's the crux of the point. It's all well and good to get amped at 20 good innings of ball, but in the context of a season, it can be (and usually is) pretty meaningless. This last response is interesting - even after 3 great performances, many people, including those that know minors the best, are still focusing on the negatives with Rogers. Not speaking for anyone else, I'm focusing on the big picture, not 3 starts that almost no one will remember a year from now. Mark Rogers has pitched mediocrely (at least statistically) throughout his pro career. We all know he has all the physical tools to be a #1 guy. 20 innings does not negate about 160 previous innings of general suckiness. I don't know how to phrase it other than to say, great, he's had 20 good innings. Now let's see if he can keep it going or merely regress (or get injured) like the many before him have.
