Ok, this really doesn't have anything to do with the topic, but a couple of you were saying you never really had organized basketball until 4th-5th grade. I didn't until 4th grade, but I can across this video of a 5th grader. He us UNBELIEVABLE. If you are a basketball fan, I guarantee your jaw will drop when you watch it. This kid is unbelievable.

I went parasailing in Mexico, and I didn't think it was that great. It wasn't that I got sea sick, or was afraid of heights or anything like that... I just thought it was pretty uneventful and boring. But some people love it, so I guess whatever floats your boat.

Thinking about Kevin Brown always makes me laugh. I was pretty young at the time, but my parents took me to spring training. We pull up to the hotel, and it has a big banner saying "Home of the Milwaukee Brewers!" We just happened to be staying at the same hotel as the Brewers, and it just so happened we had a room next to Gary Sheffield and Kevin Brown. One night we were in bed when their room started blaring music. We called the front desk 3 times to get them to turn it down... but that didn't work. We just decided to put up with it. I was a big Sheffield fan at the time, and really wanted his autograph. I woke up early to catch him while he was leaving his room, but I missed him somehow. I wasn't heartbroken because I'd get him another day. Well... that day Sheffield was traded and we never saw him again!!

Duh... because the Bucks are still in season and will be in their stretch run for lottery position!!

I do remember that game. It was against the Giants a few years ago when Bonds was going for the HR record. I think that got the biggest applause of the night!!

Ok, maybe I'm missing something but how can someone spend $3,345 in phone bills and $24,300 in gas in one month? $24,300 in gas equates out to approximately 8,100 gallons. Even at only 10 miles to the gallon, that's 81,000 miles, divided by 2 for him and his wife, that's 40,500 miles traveled per month. How is that possible? I understand he probably has boats and other toys, but that's ridiculous!!

I know it's still early, but I was just curious as to who some of the better prospects in the Midwest League will be in 08?

I collect autographs, and to me it's just a remembrance of the past. When I was in middle school, my mom, my friend, and I took 2 football training camp trips around the country. (1 was 2,900 miles, the other was 3,200 miles) This was done at the time just for autographs... but now it's all about the memories. My mom, who likes sports but doesn't watch them religiously like I do, can sit down to watch a game, see a player on the field and be like "Didn't he used to play for the Carolina Panthers?" And then it's a time to reminisce. Also, when Donald Driver was a rookie, we went up to Green Bay for mini-camp and just happened to stay in the same hotel as the Packers rookies and new signings. My mom and I were down by the pool, she was in the hot tub and I was messing around with the video games, when 2 Packers came down. We had no idea who they were initially, but 1 plopped himself down in the hot tub with my mom and the other asked to play pool with me. My mom sat in the hot tub for almost an hour chatting away with Donald Driver, while I played pool with De'Mond Parker. So now every Sunday after Driver makes a catch, my dad and I hear "Did I ever tell you about the time Donnie and I sat in the hot tub? He told me he was going to make the team because he has great hands!" So, I'm sure an autograph of Peter Tom Willis or Travis Jervey or Franklin Stubbs doesn't mean anything to most people... but to me, it's all about the memories. But I agree... people that get the same item autographed over and over is ridiculous and are most likely the sellers. I'd never sell anything of mine. They'll just be things to look back on when I'm old and gray... remembering when I was young and stupid.

If I remember correctly, Blalock's injury wasn't really his shoulder, was it? I thought I remember hearing that he had a rib removed because it was pinching the nerve to his arm. I may be completely wrong, but that's stuck in my head for some reason. But if he did only have a rib removed, it's much less of an injury risk.

Man... The compensation system is horribly unfair if a player is signed by a team in the top 15 picks. If a team with a pick at the end of the first round signs a player, the players former team gets a pick between 16-30. If the team has a top 15 pick, it jumps to the second round, which in this case will be around pick 70. So the Brewers would drop more than 40 spots by having the Sox sign Linebrink. I agree that the first round pick should not be taken from a team in the top 15 because obviously that team needs it. But wouldn't it be more fair if the team that lost the player get a pick before the sandwich round and just take the other teams second round pick away? Maybe I'm understanding this wrong, but it just seems horribly wrong that a team drops at least 40 spots because their player signed with a top 15 team.

If Yi is going to play 3, who do you recommend to play the 4? You want Danny G playing the 4? Ruffin? Who cares what his weight is at this point? He is already the team's best shot blocker, so why put him on the perimeter? And how many teams have 2 players that actually get the ball in the post significantly? Face it, Yi and Villanueva will both play the 4, and both of them will have some problems on D. And you can always look at it from the other direction. If Yi is defending a big bruiser, the bruiser will have to try to defend him on the other end.

I just don't see them going with a starting rotation with 5 righties. I'd put my money on Capuano replacing Bush in that group... although I wouldn't mind seeing Parra there either.

Whooo Hooo!! I just got my tickets via FedEx. Now I just need to cross my fingers and hope I get to use them!!

According to MLB Gameday, Jenkins has seen 14 pitches in his 3 AB's. Of those 14 pitches, 1 has been in the strike zone... and even that 1 was borderline.

Shouse was up, so I'd imagine he's in for the 9th.

My Micah Owings story: When we were down in Arizona for spring training we ventured down to Tucson to catch a Brewers/D-Backs game. We got there early and were walking around the stadium and came upon a field where the D-Backs were taking batting practice. The group was a bunch of younger players, most of which my dad or I had never heard of. But one guy stood out, #44 Owings. He was absolutely killing the ball. He was hitting ball after ball out of the practice field. We then make our way into the stadium and look at the program and both of our jaws dropped when we saw he was a pitcher. We figured it had to be a mis-print, and asked a D-Back fan, and he assured us he was a pitcher.

During the first press conference yesterday, Despain said that they had searched that area before; but not with the 100 person crew and dogs. For them to search a 3 square mile area with a fine tooth comb, they'd almost have to be certain something of value is there. So some other piece of evidence or a tip must have come out for them to go back to that area and search more thoroughly.

I can also think of 2 instances off the top of my head within the span of a week in which Cordero directly caused us to lose.

He came in with the bases loaded with no outs and gave up 1 run!! What do you expect from the guy? And Morneau is a pretty good hitter. I'm sure that HR could have come off any pither in our pen. I'm not a Spurling fan, but he has been pretty effective. He is the first person to go, but his current ERA is under 3. I'm not sure how a pitcher who pitches as infrequently as Spurling and has an ERA under 3 is killing this team.

I heard of this a couple months ago. The part that I thought was funny was that he wants to make the 2 games at the neutral site be a "red carpet" event. He's just trying to get more exposure for his clients to put more money in his pockets. Personally, 7 games is plenty for me.

Yi has said he is going to play in the NBA this year, so the Bucks have all the bargaining power in the world. He is the Bucks property, and the NBA isn't like the NFL or MLB. Once you are drafted by a team, you are that teams property till they renounce your rights. So Yi will be playing for the Bucks next year unless they get an offer that knocks their socks off. It doesn't matter if he doesn't want to play here. He'll have to suck it up, or go back to China to play.
