  1. I don't know, but you can say that he has cost us 2 games of the 5 he has been a coach. I thought this when they announced him as the 3rd base coach, but why would they not hire someone that is more familiar with the team to coach 3rd? But it wouldn't have taken a brain surgeon to know that Fielder was not going to be able to score on that ball today.
  2. I agree that this is a HUGE game for the Brewers today, but don't believe it's a must win. Just looking at the remaining schedule and the starters coming up, the Reds have been pitching Volquez every 5th day so he now misses the Brewers series. We were supposed to get Harang, who has piched A LOT better of late, in game 1 and Volquez in game 2 of the Reds series. We now get Ramirez, Cueto, and Arroyo. I like our chances much better against those guys... but we still need to hit the ball. Come on Bush, let's finish the last road trip off strong!
  3. Does Anderson know what a delay steal is? Does he know what "delay" means? Every time Kendall steals he immediately says "Kendall with the delay steal." He did a delay steal once, and this is about the 5th time he's called a plain steal a delay steal. When the runner is like 1/2 way before the pitcher lets go of the ball, I don't see how a broadcaster can even think "delay steal."
  4. To me, that's the difference between the Cubs/Mets series and the Cubs/Brewers series. I just can't see any way the Cubs pitch Harden or Zambrano against us. They will want both of those guys rested before the playoffs. But I imagine they would both throw in the Mets series. An extra day rest for each of them would probably be beneficial. But I think it would be tough on Zambrano and/or Harden if they didn't pitch for 9 days before the playoffs. As it stands now, Harden is scheduled to pitch game 2 and Zambrano is scheduled to pitch game 3 of the Mets series. I wouldn't be surprised if they are bumped back to games 3 and 4, but they will still pitch against the Mets, and most likely not against the Brewers.
  5. I don't know if this is official, but Trenni reported earlier that Ned had told her that if a game needed to be postponed this weekend, it would be made up Monday night at 7:00pm local time.
  6. How can you answer these questions? Gamel has 2 ABs, Escobar has 2 ABs, Nelson has 4 ABs, and Gwynn's 4 ABs in September have no bearing on what I thought of him before. Saying that: 1. He should have a shot at the team. 2. In my opinion, no. 3. I think he looks like he's 12. 4. Almost everyone should get "a shot," but I definitely wouldn't rely on him next year. 5. I do like Stetter, and always have. He walks his fair share, but he seems to have the ability to get K's as well.
  7. Kyle Kendricks made it though 1.1 innings tonight and JA Happ replaced him. I thought I read Happ was supposed to start Thursday against us? Guess that means Adam Eaton is getting the start.
  8. This is not on the topic of this thread, but i got to thinking about this from a couple of the posts above. Does Melvin have any say in what goes on on the field? From everything I've heard, he lets Ned manage the games without interfering. Is this really the case? The reason I wonder this is Melvin has obviously made some mistakes. Signing Gagne appears to be a mistake. Maybe Suppan is a mistake. Maybe .... that's really not the point of what I'm trying to get across. But Melvin has also acquired Durham and more recently Lamb. Does Melvin have any impact on how those 2 are played? I got to thinking about this because it seems kinda silly to sign Lamb for September when he is just going to get pinch hit at bats that are few and far between. He's been with the team since the 5th or 6th, and Saturday Counsell started, Sunday Hall started, yesterday Counsell started, and today Hall starts... all against righties. Lamb has had a horrible season thus far, but has shown he can play in the last couple years. Does Melvin have the authority to say "Play Lamb vs righties."? I'm not saying that's what the Brewers should be doing, but does Doug have the authority to do that? And would it be in his character to do so?
  9. I think they put "Steve" instead of "Vince."
  10. This guy sat in front of me at a Brewers game either last year or 2 years ago. The guy next to me pointed him out, or I would have had no idea. I probably wouldn't have believed the guy next to me, but he was in the news at that time as well (maybe because of the movie Supersize Me, I'm not sure), but I had just read an article on him. He was a crazy, hippy looking dude, that's for sure.
  11. Anyone else think it may be a good time for the Brewers to head out on the road again? Last season they were horrible on the road, and dominant at home. Since the All-Star break this year, according to my count, the team is 18-6 on the road and 12-13 at home. You can't necessarily point at one thing and be certain that is the reason for this, but maybe the pressure of being at home is truly getting to the team. I guess I'm just grasping at straws, and hoping this is true, but it may have some merit. The Brewers scored 36 runs on their last road trip, 6 games. They have scored 20 so far in the 8 games at home since. I'm hoping for a quick turn around in Philly, and adding some distance with 12 to go!!
  12. The way it worked last year, and I'm assuming it will work like this this year is: 20 pack and full season ticket holders are given their exact seat location. 10 pack holders sign in on the 17th, and it is like you are buying online tickets to a game. They show you the best available seats for the game you choose in your seating location.
  13. Yeah, that's why I hate to make an impression on someone from seeing them for a couple minutes. He could have been having a bad day, or had his mind on something else important, or something to that affect. But he was sure rude to me. Yeah, Vida Blue was there again. I was surprised, I was about 10th in line, and when they opened the gate there were probably only 75 people there. Everyone was going for Jenkins, and that's the only player I needed. But if I had stuff for the other guys, I could have gone right down the line with no wait on all of them. When the opened the gates, everyone rushed around the concourse to the autograph tent. We were walking behind home plate, when Brad Woodall turns from a concession stand in his old Brewers jersey with hot dog in hand. I thought that was pretty funny.
  14. Anyone else go to the Fergie Jenkins signing at the Madison Mallards game today? I was FAR from impressed with Jenkins, and am very glad he wasn't a player that I really looked up to. He seemed like a complete jerk. He had 2 handlers on each side of him. You went through the line, and he made you hand your item to the first handler, who would then hand the item to Jenkins, who would then hand the item to the other handler, who handed it back to the person. I was towards the front of the line, and wasn't sure what was going on when I got there. He had a stack of 8x10's he was signing in blue marker, and I had a ball I wanted him to sign which I didn't want signed in blue marker. So I handed my ball to the handler, and asked if he could sign with the pen I had. He wasn't paying attention and reached for my pen, and put a huge ink mark across my ball. He said "Oops" before continuing to not pay attention. I was not happy about that. Then he handed it to Jenkins, who signed it and handed it to the other handler. I said "thanks a lot Mr. Jenkins" and he never acknowledged me or even looked at me. Jenkins may be the nicest person in the world, but I walked away thinking "What a jerk!"
  15. Didn't we just try that at the end of July? From July 21-July 30, Hall started 9 of 10 games. In that stretch, he went 7/35 (.200 avg), .255 obp, with 3 rbi and 11 K. If you take out the first game of that stretch, he went 4/30 with 10 K. I know that's an extremely small sample size, but it's on par (or below) what he's done the whole year.
  16. It's sad, because I REALLY hate Duke. Lodi seems to switch helmet logos every other year though. When I played (97-00), we started out with motion "LHS" logos. Then, my junior year they switched to a pretty cool "L" logo. Then a couple years ago, they had a L logo with a with a devil face carved out of the L. That one was my favorite. But the new one is just a rip off of Duke, as you said. But there's only so much you can do with the Blue Devil mascot.
  17. I'm a Lodi Blue Devil. Colors are blue and white. http://images.yuku.com/image/bmp/28625f59607d8fdb13c2d7c86e593602a7fbe7d.bmp Athletically we are known for wrestling, we seem to make it to team state every year. We also had a run of golf championships back in the mid-late 90's. Our only real famous alum is Tom Wopat, who played Luke Duke in the original "The Dukes of Hazzard" tv series. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/aa73582f909b76a7fb021546280f09f7be454ac.jpg
  18. In the JS Online blog, HERE, it says he's taking BP today for the first time and is probably eying a Sunday return... if all goes well.
  19. Is anyone going to the game this Saturday going to have an extra Window Cling they would be willing to part with? Message me if you'd wanna work out a deal!
  20. Ok, I feel stupid asking this... but have wondered for a long time. If it's appropriate, what does FTW mean?
  21. So does anyone know the breakdown of how many of each color there are?
  22. Wow, I was looking at Banks stats, his ERA particularly, over his last 10 appearances and his season ERA. I was thinking there had to be a misprint someplace because his last 10 appearances have not been very good and his season ERA says 3.77. But he started off the season giving up 1 earned run in 23 innings. Since, he's allowed 30 earned runs in 51 innings, for a 5.29 ERA. Let's rough this guy up!
  23. Yeah, it's not a regular top loader. It's bigger.
  24. I am looking to send a card in to BGS. Reading through the instructions to submit a card, they recommend you send the card in an "oversized (3.25'' X 5'') semi-rigid holder (such as a Card Saver I)." I have been looking around for one of these, and have only found 2 places that carry them. The problem is, I only need one and both places only sell them by the box. So does anyone by chance have an extra one I could buy off them? Thanks a ton!!
  25. Are you sure it's for the year? It says just for the month of September. You'd think if they canceled them for the rest of the year, they'd say that instead of just saying for September.
