  1. Burnes is just locked in. Nice to see his success continue at AA thus far.
  2. Why? MLB Pipeline has him ranked #34 - right about where we picked him. Is there some reason we would have to go over slot? He probably has the second highest signability issue besides Baz for the top 50 guys. His Texas commit is very, very strong. Its gonna take some coin to sign him. Aha. Gotcha. Thanks for the info.

  4. Jeter Downs just picked. That's a good baseball name.
  5. Anyone know if Carlson was a tough sign? Didn't know if his demands were too rich for middle/late round picks, but perhaps he's a target for one of the upcoming teams who have big dollar pools. Just curious if anyone has heard anything.
  6. Who did the Cardinals draft this year? Oh wait... never mind. They have Dexter Fowler at $16.5M a year for the next five years. Well, there's always the second round. Oh wait... never mind.
  7. I think we did okay. 8 of our 9 picks were within that the top 10 of the real draft. Not bad. Guys off a pick or two here and there. Gets dicier as you get down the list. Plus, we started two weeks ago. A lot happens in that time - and we can't change our picks based upon what has occurred. All in all, not a bad job - even if we didn't get any exact pick correct. I hope people had fun making the picks.
  8. Can't he just go back to college, have an elite season with no off-field issues all year, and count on top-10 money as a senior? (Easier said than done, but at least he can threaten that) I think he'd have to sit out a year to play D1 so basically NAIA like Erceg ended up.Difficult to raise your stock against that competition. Yep. And he just got picked by the Nationals. So he's in line for around $2.5M. He may have blown a million or two with his immaturity, but that's still a lot of dollars to pass up. Groome had the same option last year. Take $3.5M or wait until next year and hope you get the $5-6M you thought you were going to get.
  9. Question related to Hiura. He played for UC-Irvine - Big West Conference. How is the competition in that conference? I really don't know much about college baseball - so I was wondering if some of Hiura's stats are padded a bit by lesser competition. Just wondering if anyone knew.
  10. How many picks will the do tonight? Just first round? Competitive balance picks?
  11. Huira is an intersting guy. I'm good with it - especially if we can save some dollars. Bukauskas would have been interesting. He seems to be dropping.
  12. I'm guessing it was $6M or so. I bet that's what Lewis signs for. Maybe $6.5M. Really that low? I thought the slot for 1.1 was almost 8 million.I'm betting Minnesota low balled the offers on the first pick. Lewis took that offer - McKay didn't. It gives them an extra $1-1.5M later in the draft to play with. Just a guess on my part.
  13. AL team is good. He can DH and pitch. Assuming he's allowed to do that. Question: can you DH someone else in your lineup? Example, if McKay is the pitcher, could they DH a light hitting SS? I don't think so - but I thought someone might know.
  14. I'm guessing it was $6M or so. I bet that's what Lewis signs for. Maybe $6.5M.
  15. Hard not to root for him though. Terrific kid. Yep. I loved the smile on his face when he put on the jersey. Just looked thrilled/overwhelmed/happy.
  16. Hunter Greene goes #2. I hate to see him down the road facing Milwaukee.
  17. What will be interesting is the upper teams cutting deals and pushing down some of the more highly rated guys. It could push to us a better pick. Should be fun!
  18. You have to remember that Baltimore gave up on him, so it is more than 22 innings, when you consider their opinion. My post was regarding his splits. He's getting pounded by righties - and I was pointing out that those 22 innings of getting pounded by righties isn't necessarily how he has been in his career. As noted, I'm not defending his performance. Just noting that the crazy split numbers are not necessarily how he has always been.
  19. Mock Draft Results 1 - Tuesday, May 30 - Minnesota Twins - Kyle Wright, RHP, Vanderbilt 2 - Wednesday, May 31 - Cincinnati Reds - Brendan McKay, LHP/1B, Louisville 3 - Thursday, June 1 - San Diego Padres - Hunter Greene, RHP/SS, Notre Dame (Calif.) HS 4 - Friday, June 2 - Tampa Bay Rays - Royce Lewis - SS/OF, JSerra Catholic (Calif.) HS 5 - Monday, June 5 - Atlanta Braves - MacKenzie Gore, LHP, Whiteville (N.C.) HS 6 - Tuesday, June 6 - Oakland Athletics - Pavin Smith, 1B, Virginia 7 - Wednesday, June 7 - Arizona Diamondbacks - Adam Haseley, OF, Virginia 8 - Thursday, June 8 - Philadelphia Phillies - J.B. Bukauskas, RHP, North Carolina 9 - Friday, June 9 - Milwaukee Brewers - Jo Adell, OF, Ballard (Ky.) HS
  20. The Community Draft has spoken. With he 9th pick, Milwaukee takes prep OF Jo Adell, Ballard (Ky.) HS. Adell's selection is a result of a three way runoff. Here's the results: Adell - 10 Hall - 6 Peterson - 6 Thanks everyone for playing! I wasn't sure how many people would chime in with votes on such as short notice - but we got a lot of participation.
  21. This sums things up pretty good. Peralta has been immensely frustrating. I was really disappointed when he came into this season overweight. He knew his job was on the line, but he seems to not have had the commitment to his team and his career. He would not be the first. Wily's reliever experiment is at 10.2 IP. I don't know how long it will last. A change of scenery is probably the best thing for him. Maybe getting cut will make him realize he actually needs to commit to the game to be successful.
