  1. 3 of our 8 position players were hitting below .150 coming into today's game. Small sample size for two of the guys (Middlebrooks and Elmore), but no one should be shocked at their stats.
  2. Just have to open up the computer and see what it is. The power supply isn't connected to the computer system in any way that you can 'read' what it is or anything like that. Hopefully, it will be viewable. You'll see the '500W' or maybe the white sticker with the model and serial #. You can look it up from there online.
  3. Read in a couple of places that Gallo is more available than the Rangers have made everyone believe. Not sure what Stearns and company think of Gallo, but I wonder if teams (including the Rangers) are coming to believe that Gallo has too high of a bust potential due to his swing and miss issues. The Rangers recently promoted Delino DeShields and Hanser Alberto instead of Gallo after Choo and Fielder got put on the DL. I wonder if the club is afraid Gallo will come to the majors and produce like last year, which was 57k in 108 ABs. Gallo's a fascinating player, but you wonder if the Crew would want someone more 'safe.'
  4. I'm going to suggest going to Toms Hardware - http://www.tomshardware.com My son recently wanted to upgrade his graphics card, and he went there, posted all the info (processor, memory, OS, etc.), and he had a bunch of people reply within hours with suggestions. I went through the same thing when I had to get a new processor for my other computer - people were great and helpful. It saved me a lot of pain.
  5. I saw Montgomery's name and was like, "Is that the same guy from KC/Tampa system?" He was such as a disappointment - I was happy to see how well he has done. Good for him. It just shows you some guys need time to develop. Vogelbach needed to be in the AL so badly. I can't think of a player who profiles as a DH better than him.
  6. Cleveland really hasn't been the type of team to make a deal for a guy like Lucroy, but you have to wonder if they'll change course with how well they are doing this year, plus the injury to Gomes. It's just too perfect for Cleveland. Big need, cheap contract, lots of good prospects to trade from. And this would be for two playoff races - not just one. You get a minimum of a comp pick in the end. I do think that, in the end, Boston caves in an gives up something big for Lucroy. Dombrowski wasn't brought in to let another team steal the best player on the market. He wants to win, and he'll ultimately pay a big price. But if Cleveland is the team, I want Frazier.
  7. Yeah, I totally agree about Profar. I like the guy a ton, but he's only three years of control. This club needs to target guys with 5 and 6 years of control.
  8. Trying to predict a rebuild is tough because there are so many variables in a player's development. But I've said that 2016-17 will be tough years, but by 2018 will have an interesting team. Doesn't mean we'll be that good, but we'll be interesting. Could we win in 2018? Yes, but you just don't know for sure. Injuries and lack of player development can cause so many things to go awry. But then you find out if guys like Villar and Guerra are more than one-year wonders. Other guys emerge - think of Jake Lamb for the Dbacks. He's tweaked his swing and is now on pace for 30+ HR. We have to hope a couple of guys can step up like that in the next couple of years. Plus hope we don't have big regressions. Like I said, I think we'll have an interesting team in 2018. Hader, Arcia, Phillips, etc. all will likely be in the majors. We should get some decent prospects back for Luc and whomever else gets dealt this month (or after the season). The kids will have their growing pains, but hopefully we'll see something that resembles hope emerging toward the end of 2017 and go forward some good vibes.
  9. Minor League Ball gets to their Top 30 in their mid-season countdown. Arcia comes in at #13. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2016/7/18/12210910/top-30-midseason-mlb-prospects
  10. I heard Groome signing with Boston isn't a sure thing. He and his family are still upset that Boston picked him after they told them not to do so (because Groome had a $5M deal set up with Boston). Still, hard to pass on $4M or so (assuming Boston goes that high).
  11. One guy, Horn, was a lower end 1st round talent who had a pretty firm college commitment. We picked him late - like the 20th round or something. It's just one of those things teams do just in case the kid changes his mind for some crazy reason.
  12. As noted before, Groome has some character issues that really made him a risk for $5M. It's tough to pass up his kind of talent, but that's what many teams did.
  13. We have five bullpen guys that might be in play - Jeffress, Smith, Thornburg, Torres and Boyer. Some are more desirable that others, but a few could be dealt. That means areas like Schahill are okay to add at this point. If nothing happens in the trade market, he can easily be let go if we need the space.
  14. Braun is a guy who could potentially be an August trade. Teams might not have the room salary-wise right now, but perhaps by late August, when he's only owned $2.5-3.0M for the rest of the year, they might bite. Baggage, salary, injury issues aside, Braun is an exceptional bat. There won't be a lot of them available in July - and especially not in August.
  15. Rosenthal reports that 17 scouts were at the Rangers recent Class-A Rookie League game, and the Crew has been scouting the Rangers system. He lists 17-year-old outfielder Leody Taveras and 18-year-old shortstop Anderson Tejeda as prime talent that could interest Milwaukee. He also says the Crew would likely want someone like Gallo or Profor. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/texas-rangers-milwaukee-brewers-trade-deadline-ken-rosenthal-notebook-071116 Let the speculating begin...
  16. Boston has roughly $4.2M of their draft pool left to sign Groome. He reportedly wanted a minimum of $4M to sign, but even then, there was some reports saying he wanted 'Top 4' slot money - which could be $5M or more. It also could simply be Groome being upset about Boston picking him - he supposedly had a deal in place with another team picking lower in the 1st round (likely SD), and was set on going there. Perhaps that was a sweetheart deal - $5M or something like that - and he feels he can wait another year. I bet he signs - wringing every penny out of Boston that he can. $4M now or $5M next year (assuming nothing goes wrong, which is a lot to assume). I'm betting he takes the money now. Right after I posted this an article from Jon Heyman came out saying the Padres had an agreement with Groome to sign for $5M. http://www.todaysknuckleball.com/al/boston-red-sox/jason-groome-stare-offer-table/
  17. We must really want some trades or something to happen. I thought this would be one of those threads that would die in a page or two. We need cool stuff (trades and so forth) to start happening!

  19. Yes Plush is correct. With all the trade possibilities, we felt waiting until the deadline was the wise thing to do. If we did it now, for instance, a trade next week could screw up a bunch of votes. It just isn't worth it. So we'll wait until August 1. I'll make the voting phase pretty tight - a week or so - so we have a 'mid-season' poll completed as earlier as possible.
  20. Lucroy said he isn't involved in any contract negotiations with the Brewers, and reiterates that he wants to play for a contender. “I want to be competitive. I want to be on a team that is playing for a championship. If that’s the Brewers, great. If not, not. It’s a tough situation.” http://www.todaysknuckleball.com/nl/milwaukee-brewers/heyman-jonathan-lucroy-ready-contender-milwaukee-elsewhere/ The article notes that Brewer scouts have been watching Ranger games, which makes sense. Some of our pitchers are probably is of interest to them as well.
  21. That would be a pretty huge haul. A lot might be the organization's feeling about Ortiz. He's doing great, but there's some concern about his conditioning plus he's had some arm issues. Just want to make sure he's not a TJ surgery waiting to happen. Tavares would be a huge addition - only 17, but a ton of talent. The other guys I couldn't say much about - they seem to be productive this year, which is always good.
  22. Yeah, they would be pretty crazy to deal him now. I know he's slowed down, but he's still got a .282 BA and 11 HR in 1/2 season. That's pretty great for a talented player who turned 21 just three months ago. Plus, they'd just open up a hole in their lineup.
  23. Former Brewer utilityman, Wisconsin native (he went to college at UW-La Crosse) and long time minor leaguer Vinny Rottino is still kicking around baseball. Vinny is 36, and playing for the White Sox AAA affiliate in Charlotte. He is hitting .204 on 179 ABs. Rottino last played in the majors in 2012 - for Cleveland - and has produced a robust .165 BA in 110 ABs over his brief major league career. He has played parts of 12 minor league seasons, 5 major league seasons, as well as a year in both Korea and Japan. Rottino has carved a long career in baseball through his versatility - even this year, he's played LF, RF, 1B, 3B and catcher. With a poor season at the plate, Vinny's career on the field may be winding down, but he seems like the type of guy who will step right into coaching - anything to stay in the game.
  24. Probably bring back Knebel. He's been doing well since going down. Blazek just lost his control this year. Relievers are often very mercurial. It's why it's hard to often count on them to repeat their performance from year to year. That's what make the good ones - who do stay consistently good - so valuable.
  25. Hey, that's pretty much what I said - and I didn't read the article before I wrote my post. Still, it's not that hard to figure out. Things I've read other places seem to have gotten hold of the same narrative. I'm not really hyped about trading Nelson, but he would be a great fit in Boston (along with Lucroy). That might bring back a monster package, but it would really put a dent in our own rotation. Tough to do, but I guess it's something to consider.
