  1. With Rodgers onboard and the expected tagging of Adams, time for draft fun. Here's my rundown for our 1st rounder: 1) I do not expect the team to pick a QB or RB due to lack of need and the talent at position. 2) I don't think we will pick a TE as the talent isn't worth our 1st rounder. 3) I don't think the team picks a corner due to the investment in Stokes and Alexander - but if the value is there, sure. 4) There will be a group of players that most likely be unavailable by the time we pick. These are the guys who never - or almost never - fall to the Packers in current mock drafts. Here's that list: - Evan Neal, OT - Aidan Hutchinson, Edge - Kayvon Thibodeaux, Edge - Derek Stingley Jr., CB - Ikem Ekwonu, OT - Kyle Hamilton, S - Ahmad Gardner, CB - Jordan Davis, DL 5) This leaves us with a swath of players who might be available when we pick. No doubt other players will rise, and some of these guys fall. I've included guys who have appeared on multiple mock drafts. I think I got the main ones, but there may be others. No matter, here's a starting list. WR - Garrett Wilson, Ohio St. - Jameson Williams, Alabama - Drake London, USC - Chris Olave, Ohio St. - Treylon Burks, Arkansas - Jahan Dotson, Penn St. OL - Trevor Penning, OT, N. Iowa - Bernhard Raimann, OT, Central Michigan - Charles Cross, OT, Miss St. - Zion Johnson, OG, Boston College - Tyler Linderbaum, C, Iowa - Kenyon Green, OG, Texas A&M EDGE/DL - George Karlaftis, Edge, Purdue - Devonte Wyatt, DL, Georgia - Travon Walker, DL, Georgia - Jermaine Johnson, Edge, Florida St. - David Ojabo, Edge, Michigan - Boye Mafe, edge, Minnesota - Travis Jones, DT, Connecticut LB - Devin Lloyd, Utah - Nakobe Dean, Georgia DBs - Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington - Daxton Hill, S, Michigan - Andrew Booth Jr., CB - Kaiir Elam, CB, Florida
  2. What if the Packers trade love and pick a QB in the 1st round. That would just be awesome...
  3. Roughly. The Packers trade would have been slightly richer I have to imagine - 2 consecutive MVP's and all and the recency bias of Brady's stellar play...and Russ hasn't been his best Russ consistently in over 1.5 seasons. I'm guessing you're right - but even if it had been the same thing - it's still a haul.
  4. Nice, Wilson out of the NFC. Seattle might be scary in a few years - but for now, that removes one more potential contender in our conference.
  5. My guess is a 2nd round pick.
  6. I've heard that Love's trade value isn't high. He has some great tools - but he didn't particularly impress when given the chance. That said - QBs are a premium. It just takes one team to think he's the answer. If we can't get something pretty good for him, I would just hold on to Love. Another year. Another chance to impress.
  7. Cool. Rodgers is back. They are gonna kick a lot of money stuff down the road - and the crash of the team could be pretty epic at that time. But I'm not complaining at all. We have a great QB who is at the top of his game. No distractions. Time to do the following: 1) Tag Adams and then get him a new deal. 2) Resign Campbell. 3) Restructure/extend deals on various players, including Alexander, Cobb, Turner, Z. Smith, P. Smith and probably a few other guys I'm not remembers right now. 4) Cut guys that aren't in the plan. That could include guys mentioned in #3. Lowry and Crosby are two others that might not be brought back. 5) Would love to have R. Douglas back - but with Alexander and Stokes, he might want to go elsewhere. Plus money won't be easy to come by. 6) Look at market for MVS and Lazard - see about returning. Not critical - but nice to have the veteran depth. 7) See if Love has much value. Consider trading if so. It's okay to keep him, but if he has trade value - might be the best move. 8) Have a great draft. So important for the future. Draft is deep in WR, DL, OL. We could land No matter what you think of Rodgers or the deal, he's our guy for at least another 2-3 years. We've hitched ourselves to this wagon - lets run with it. Let's start talking draft!
  8. At this point, I'm just ready for a decision. Trade or re-sign. tired of the drama... Exactly. Just make a decision. Just speculating - but perhaps rumors of Rodgers getting back with Shailene Woodley are complicating the decision. But whatever. Just poop or get off the pot.
  9. As a note, the Packers don't have to get under the salary cap until March 16 at 4pm EST. So if Rodgers says he's coming back, we'll have a week to redo his deal - and make other moves - to get under the cap. Even with tagging Adams it can be done. Cut Z. Smith, Crosby, Cobb, few others. New deals for P. Smith, Alexander, and a few others. Won't be easy, but it can be done. Ideally you can get a new Adams contract done as well to lessen that pain for 2022.
  10. Rodgers is reportedly going to make a decision by Tuesday. if so, we can get the drama over and just get on with the offseason. So many teams are just waiting on the guy. https://www.9news.com/article/sports/nfl/denver-broncos/mike-klis/aaron-rodgers-wait-broncos/73-1157978a-affa-4879-8a23-411ff4a567b2
  11. I read one guy (I think with The Athletic) saying they expected Chenel to blow away some people with his strength. Most mocks have him going in the 3rd-4th round. But someone might fall in love with the guy. He's a beast. Chenal weighed in at 250 pounds - which is lighter than with Wisconsin (he was around 260-265). Scouts seem to think the lighter weight will do him better in the pros to improve his speed and movement. As you said, he did well. One take: Leo Chenal, Wisconsin: At 6-2 and 250 pounds, Chenal running 4.53 was awesome. He looks thick on film and not necessarily that fast. But that number will stick to his draft profile. He's a thumping downhill type who we now know has some speed in his arsenal. Those jumps were tremendous too, and frankly, a bit shocking. Good for him. He had the highest vertical jump of the main LBs in attendance. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2022-nfl-scouting-combine-montana-states-troy-andersen-wisconsins-leo-chenal-shine-in-linebacker-workouts/
  12. This is exactly how I feel. I just want the decision to be done so we can move on in whatever direction.
  13. That seems to be the case this year. I don't know that the QB class is good enough for Houston to take one 3rd overall, but it might make a lot of sense for Houston to move up from #37 to #28 and leapfrog DET (who has #32 and #34) to get one. Same with Washington at #42, they may want to leapfrog DET and HOU. A trade that might make a lot of sense is for GB and HOU to swap picks #28 and #37, with GB and HOU swapping 3rd round picks (#92 and #68) and HOU adding one or two of their 6th round picks. If GB can move up to #68, perhaps one of those top 60 guys will still be there or GB can give up a day 3 pick to move up into the top 60 giving GB three of those 15-60 picks. A trade with WAS might be GB's #28 and #171 for WAS #42 and #73. That being said, those teams may want to leapfrog TB at #27 too because they will be looking for a QB. But if TB grabs one, that may increase the demand to get whoever is left at #28. QBs are weird this year. Most rankings put the top ones no higher than #20 or so on draft boards. And that's being generous. However, QBs tend to rise up in drafts (though not always). It only takes one team to fall in love with a guy. The Packers should want the QBs to do well at the combine and in workouts. Drive them into the first round - push down players we can use.
  14. Most mocks have the Packers going after WR or Edge/DL guys. Part of this is need. Part of this is that there's a lot of depth in those positions. Also, there's a solid Top 5 tier of WRs - Garrett Wilson, Treylon Burks, Drake London, Jameson Williams and Chris Olave. But another guy showing up at the end of the 1st round (and in some mocks for the Packers) is WR Jahan Dotson from Penn State.
  15. Thanks.
  16. Note: I updated the subject line to give readers a better understanding of the thread.
  17. In addition to QB and TE, the other position that might not get picked in the first round is running back. The Athletic recently released their Top 100 prospects. Top QB was #31 (although there were four quarterbacks between 31-41 - so borderline first rounders each). Top RB was at #41. Top TE was at #60. A note - this was their rankings - not a mock draft. So nothing on need of the team anything like that.
  18. The interesting thing is that of those five WRs - they end up all over the place on Mock Drafts. In at least one mock, each guy falls to the Packers (of course, in several mocks all the WRs are gone). Looking at scouting reports of the WRs, we would do well to get any of them. One interesting thing to watch for the quarterbacks. Some mocks have several in the first round - some have none. The more QBs that rise up, the more chance we get a better player (unless we want a QB - which would cause a lot of heads to explode if we picked one in the 1st round). Still lots of time for things to shake out. Going to be fun.
  19. Any thoughts on the top WRs? Any favorites? I'm interested in opinions of players who could potentially fall to us (or we could trade up for). I've listed the five WRs that show up as first rounders in mock drafts (there are more than these five - just these guys are pretty much in all the mocks). The interesting thing is that they are all over the map. With this many WRs available, it's possible one (or more) could fall to us. Any thoughts on these guys? Preferences? Who to avoid? Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas Drake London, WR, USC Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State I feel we really need an infusion of talent at WR spot - even if we bring back Adams and Rodgers. It doesn't have to be in the first round - but if the value is there, I'd be happy to see them make the leap.
  20. As people pointed out, Howard had his team pressing and trapping despite the game being far out of reach. If his guys had just hung back - then the Badgers don't call time out. Instead, they only had 4 seconds to get the ball over half court. The TO gives them 10 seconds. If Michigan wants to play press and trap, I'm gonna give my guys the best chance possible to execute. That means a time out. To then go and say 'We'll remember this crap' is crap. Gard could have backed off - knowing Howard was looking for a confrontation - but I don't blame him for standing up for himself and his team. Just a stupid move by Howard. Just stupid. To try and defend his actions as being 'offended' by a time out was lame.
  21. WR, TE, DL, OL - lots of options. Obviously, we have to see what happens with Rodgers. After that, there will be other chips - Adams, Campbell, Douglas, Tonyan, MVS, Lazard. But it all starts with Rodgers.
  22. NFL Draft is a little over two months away, so I thought we should start a thread for it. The Packers pick 28th in the 1st round. The team does not have a 6th round pick this year, but they have an extra 7th (from Chicago), and are projected to receive comp 4th and 7th rounders.
  23. Here's how I think the offseason will play out: It'll happen in one of two ways: 1) Packers tell Rodgers we love you. Hugs and kisses. Let's do a new contract. How many years do you envision playing? 2-3? Okay, we'll clear cap space for that time period. This includes restructuring deals or getting rid of some guys (Za'Darius Smith, Billy, Turner, Randall Cobb, Preston Smith, Mason Crosby, Deal Lowry, Mercedes Lewis are some of the guys who could be let go or restructured). Baktiari, Clark, Aaron Jones and a few others could be restructured and/or money could be pushed further down the road. The Packers then resign Adams so he's onboard with Rodgers. Maybe a few other of our FAs - such as Lazard and MVS. They won't have a ton of money (I'm guessing) for free agency, but enough to plug a few holes. Plus they draft a need - such as WR - in the first round. Team looks at trading Love. If they can get something good for him - send him off. If not, so be it. He's the back up. The big thing is the team will throw caution to the wind and build for the next 2-3 years - whatever Rodgers commits to. After that - it's rebuild time. B) Rodgers says he wants to move on. Say thanks - arrange for a haul of draft picks. At least two firsts and two seconds. Then trade Adams as well - a team like Oakland might bite. He could get us a 1st rounder. Bring in another QB to compete with Love - such Marcus Mariota or Mitch Trubisky. Both I think are interesting players who could do well in LaFluer's system. Clear a bunch of veterans (Crosby, Smith, Cobb, etc.). Draft a bunch of young players and see how things go in 2022. Know there will be growing pains - but the rebuild could be very short if we draft well.
  24. While only the Bucks know the true story, it's said they are confident Lopez will be back yet this season. Also, the Bucks will be a prime team for any players who are bought out. So I'm not sure how much they will go in on a trade. No point in bringing in a player (at a cost) for someone who is available for free. I guess there's certainty in a trade. You just don't know who will be bought out. I'm wondering if Goran Dragić will get bought out. He might be a nice option. Assuming he would want to come here.
  25. It was a good draft. You get a couple quality starters as rookies you're doing pretty well (especially for picking that late). Good for the Packers. Stokes looks really solid. And Myers was good when healthy - although Myers over Creed Humphrey was a bit of a surprise at the time. Humphrey was great as a rookie. Let's hope Myers can stay healthy this year. I thought Rodgers would find some sort of niche as a rookie - but he just never found his footing. Let's hope things click this year. Finding mid and late round gems is just icing on the cake.
