  1. Further evidence that Cleveland still doesn't know what it's going to do is the following treat from Jeff Goodman of ESPN from earlier this morning, "Cleveland Cavs extremely active in the trade market in the past 24 hours for the No. 1 overall pick. Still torn on Wiggins/Parker."
  2. Right now if I had to make a guess, I think Parker goes no. 1 and then the Bucks take Wiggins, though it sure seems like Hammond really likes Exum. Saw a rumor by Chad Ford that Cleveland was seeing what they could get if they offered teams Orlando's 4th and 12th picks. I still don't think Cleveland knows yet what they are going to do.
  3. I agree. At this point I would rather the Bucks just keep the second pick and choose between Parker and Wiggins. With the Embiid injury, they are the two top players in this draft which is why there seems to be so much interest in teams trading up to get one of the top two picks. Would be great if the Bucks can find a way to get another lottery pick as well. Have seen rumors that the Lakers and Kings may be interested in trading their picks, but with all the rumors floating around who knows what is true and what isn't. Would guess that the Bucks could probably get a first round pick later in the draft if they really wanted to. I seem to remember last year that a few teams towards the end of the first round trading their 1st round pick for second round picks, but it was a weak draft.
  4. I would be happy with either Parker or Wiggins. Too many red flags with Embiid, first he hurts his back and now he had a foot injury. I would put Exum a notch below as he hasn't played against top competition and seems to be more of a combo guard at the moment. Plus, have seen some mixed reports from scouts, but have never really seen him play, so for all I know he could end up being the best player in the draft.
  5. Looks like the best we could get for him was $1. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/263516631.html
  6. It appears in Keith Law's final mock draft he has the Brewers selecting Kodi Medeiros. However, I don't have a ESPN Insider subscription so not sure what makes him think that is who the Brewers will take, but this is what he said in a chat session, "You have the Brewers selecting Kodi Medeiros in your latest mock, but he is only #50 in your Top 100. Is this a huge reach on their part? Klaw (1:13 PM) IMO, yes. I think there's a high chance he's a reliever" I like the idea of the Brewers taking a power bat in the first round like a Kyle Schwarber or possible Jacob Gatewood, then taking a pitcher with a later pick since there seems to be more pitching then hitting depth.
  7. A couple more updates. JIM BOWDEN ‏@JimBowdenESPNxm Garza deal with Brewers is expected to be completed in next 48 hours as first reported by @Ken_Rosenthal Adam McCalvy ‏@AdamMcCalvy Ryan Braun, who shares an agent with Garza, hints, "Maybe a big announcement today. Maybe." #Brewers Also just heard an interview with Mark A. and all he said was there was nothing new to report and that the Brewers are a process organization they are working through the process. So, whatever the reason for the delay, seems like Garza is still set to sign with Milwaukee.
  8. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 11m Garza, #Brewers still appear on track to complete deal. Continue to work on language in contract. Not clear if related to physical. That's the first update given by Rosenthal that I am aware of in a few days.
  9. Latest information from Haudricourt and Doug Melvin, "There's nothing to report," said Melvin. "I can't really comment on it. We're just waiting." The big question is: Waiting on what? There have been no revelations from either side since reports surfaced Thursday saying the Brewers had a four-year, $52 million deal in place with Garza, pending a physical. Garza took that physical and there has been no indication that a medical red flag went up, making the delay even more puzzling. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/241980611.html Let the speculation continue.
  10. Yes, I have watched it and like it as well. My fiancee is British and lives in the Uk, so over the past few years I have really started to watch a number of UK shows. I actually saw the first episode of Ripper Street while I was visiting her in the UK over the Christmas holiday period. Just as I'm sure ReverendBrewmeister could as well, there are a number of UK shows I could mention. However, as far as Ripper Street goes, for those who like the show, the good news is that there is going to be a second season of 8 episodes that is scheduled to be shown in early 2014.
  11. And he's pitched well against the Brewers, just like Suppan always did.
  12. Here is the package it appears Texas was offering, The other finalist was Texas, which would not part with shortstop Jurickson Profar or third baseman Mike Olt. The Rangers offered infielder Leurys Garcia, left-hander Chad Bell and right-hander Justin Grimm. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/164095836.html#!page=1&pageSize=10&sort=newestfirst
  13. Haudricourt was sent a tweet about the Andrus-Greinke rumor, his response Tom‏@Haudricourt @BrianLogan12 Cute story but here's truth about player contracts: Every team has copies of contracts of every player. No need to request.
  14. Have to think that the Braves would be the most likely trade partner at the moment. However, I also saw that Danny Knobler is reporting that the Red Sox had a scout at the game watching Grienke pitch. "Plenty of teams have shown interest in Greinke, with the Rangers, Angels and Braves considered to be at the front of the pack, but with the White Sox and others also considered to be possibilities. Most of those teams had a scout in attendance Tuesday, and other teams (notably the Red Sox) were represented, as well. The Red Sox's presence was interesting, given that Allard Baird was the scout in attendance. Baird and Greinke have a strong relationship, going back to their time together with the Royals." As poorly as the Red Sox have played this year they are actually only 4 games behind in the wild card race. Any possible additional teams expressing an interest in Grienke can only help.
  15. For what it's worth, Tom Haudricourt twitted the following a few minutes ago, "I've had no indication that Ryan Braun verdict will be today." Maybe someone at the MLB Network has an inside source at MLB telling them to go to Maryvale. I think if MLB was officially telling reporters to come to Maraville, the Brewer reporters would have been told and multiple sources would be reporting it. Same if it was someone from Braun's camp.
  16. Adam McCalvy is reporting that the Brewers have signed Aoki to a 2 year deal. "The Brewers have signed Japanese outfielder Norichika Aoki to a two-year contract with a club option for 2014. More details to come at Brewers.com" http://brewersbeat.mlblog...s-an-option/ Edit: Haudricourt is adding that it's a 2 year deal, plus a club option.
  17. Latest from Rosenthal on Krod, "Source: K-Rod may accept arbitration from #[/s]Brewers. Not definite. But closer merry-go-round could leave some without chairs. #[/s]MLB" That could mess up any plans the Brewers may have in trying to sign Ramirez or limit their other options. Hopefully Krod doesn't accept arbitration.
  18. Wouldn't surprise me if the Brewers resigned Betancourt. Don't think he's their first option, just depends on what the free agent shortstops are asking and if they end up either signing or trading for a first baseman or even possible a third basemen with McGehee being moved to first. If I had to guess on who will end up playing short for the Brewers next year, right now would be Furcal first, then Barmes, then Yuni, Reyes and finally Rollins, which of course means it will be Rollins. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Will say Rollins seems like the kind of player Melvin likes. Someone who can hit some home runs, steal a few bases and wouldn't mind that Rollins has a low OBP. And I haven't notice a lot of rumors about teams talking to or interested in Rollins. Of course, could end up being someone no one is talking about. Melvin did say he doesn't like to tip his hand and yet there are all these reports on agents he is talking to and about.
  19. I would like to know if Melvin wanted him or just had to take him as well, maybe a bit of both. Anyway, more on how bad Betancourt is from one of the latest Haudricourt's blogs: "One slightly disturbing part of the column is how Olney points out that some baseball people were surprised that the Brewers took shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt back in the deal rather than going out and finding another shortstop option. Probably because Betancourt fit into their budget (the Brewers will pay him $3 million this year) and Melvin expects to have Craig Counsell return to back him up..." http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/112183699.html
  20. Look like it's going to be Jeffress, per Haudricourt via Twitter: "Jeffress still could be the PTBNL in Greinke trade. Royals are reviewing his record of drug suspensions before signing off on him." http://twitter.com/Haudri...status/16549552135872512
  21. Hate to give up Cain as I think he it going to be a top of the order, gold glove centerfielder for years to come. Would be great if we didn't have to give up Jeffress, who are the Brewers top prospects currently not on the 40 man roster that might end up being traded? As a Brewer fan, hard not to be excited about getting Greinke. You never know about injuries and such, but the Brewers have gone from a middle of the pack team in the NL to one of the early season favorites with the pickup of Greinke and Marcum. However, we should have gotten another player for having to take on Betancourt. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif At least I hope it was a case of the Royals making it a part of the deal and not Melvin asking for him. If the Brewers are going to have a shortstop that can't hit, would rather just have one that can at least play defense. Found this blog article on Betancourt's defense. http://royalsblog.kansascity.com/?q=node/627 Actually hoping, though I know it will not be the case, that Betancourt is not a part of the deal, but I guess that was another price to pay to get Greinke.
  22. Per Ken Rosenthal on his twitter page, "Sources: #Brewers have had preliminary talks with Marcum about contract extension."
  23. According to Mark Bowman the mlb.com reporter for the Braves, "The Braves and Brewers have continued to attempt to find the matching pieces to swap a young pitcher for an outfielder. But late Wednesday morning, they both seemed reluctant to move the piece the other club was seeking. There's no doubt that the Braves have interest in Lorenzo Cain, a 24-year-old center fielder from Valdosta, Ga. But they weren't willing to acquire at the expense of losing Mike Minor, the 2009 first-round selection that the Brewers requested in exchange." Goes on to add, "The Brewers seem more willing to move Carlos Gomez, a 25-year outfielder who previously played for the Mets and Twins. Likewise, the Braves seem much more interested in moving any of their young pitching prospects not named Minor, Teheran, Delgado and Vizcaino." http://markbowman.mlblogs.com/archives/2010/12/braves_and_brewers_still_attem.html I would take about any decent pitching prospect for Gomez, though the Braves don't seem that interested in Gomez at the moment.
  24. Latest from Adam McCalvy, "Brewers had a productive meeting with Rickie Weeks' agent. Will meet again, Gord Ash said. More coming on Brewers.com" http://brewersbeat.mlblogs.com/archives/2010/12/brewers_begin_talks_on_weeks_e.html Good sign that things went well and they plan on meeting again.
  25. It appears as though the Nationals are offering Cliff Lee a 7 year contract, according to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News. If that is indeed the case the Nationals may be the favorites to sign him as they may be the only team willing to offer him 7 years. If the Nationals sign Lee, then it probably increases the chances of the Brewers signing Pavano. Melvin also didn't deny that the Brewers were interested in signing Pavano when asked about it. Edit: Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post, citing sources from the Nationals saying there is zero chance the Nationals will offer Lee a 7 year deal, so the Nationals are still in the hunt for Pavano. Wonder if Pavano will wait till Lee signs before signing with a team.
