  1. Weird... in 2014, I remember that many here wanted simply to get in. The playoffs meant "if you're in, anything can happen!" Now it seems, with DS, many do not want us striving for that Wild Card this year because there is no way we can compete with Dodgers, Nats, Cubs, etc. Better to trade NO prospects for any type of rental, no matter how cheap we could get him for. Better to just play the young guys and lead Villar off, no matter how close to first or the wild card we are because we'll probably just lose anyway. Have we gone mad? Let's just say we would have picked up JD Martinez and Ian Kinsler, along with Jeffress and Swarzek. Domingo is in center with Broxton as late inning replacement. Does anyone think these acquisitions would have been anywhere near expensive? We would have parted with like 2 more kinda quality guys, maybe 2 in the top 30, but not in the top 10. Count me as someone who thinks we pissed our chances away at the All Star break by waaaaaay over valuing lower ranked prospects for legit talent to fill major gaps at 2B and CF. That being said, DS can redeem himself in early August by still making waiver moves that help us now that don't put the rebuild in any sort of jeopardy.
  2. This again? So, in your opinion, you can't possibly be a true Brewer fan if you sell your tickets on the open market and a Cub fan happens to buy them? I'm so tired of these judgments. You must be filthy rich (or completely financially irresponsible - as long as we are throwing around judgement of people) if you would be willing to forfeit $100 plus per ticket just so that there is no chance a Cub fan will get your seats. Also, MLB teams do not care at all if you sell your tickets on the secondary market. All MLB season tickets holders are given a direct link within their season ticket holder account to sell tickets directly on Stub Hub. The fan purchasing the tickets can print them off directly from Stub Hub. Judgements? I don't like that word. It's my opinion on a topic. But I'll go with you here, you have traditionally left very insightful posts... it's not morally wrong, not a sin...but it's not being a great fan, is it? If every Brewers fan sold their Game 7 World Series ticket to the opposing team's fans, we would not be known as having great fans. Selling out to the enemy would be the dialogue. Also, I am not the greatest fan or will be claiming that either. I go to about 10 games a year and simply do not go to the large majority of Cubs games. For $100, A Cubs fan will be getting that ticket. You know that, right? They sold out spring training games whose tickets cost more than some of our regular games. Would you sell the same ticket for $500 to a Cubs fan for a playoff game?
  3. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this and if I had season tickets I would probably do the same thing. To me, there is something wrong to the core with this.... $ before Brewers loyalty. Even more, you are "helping" the enemy while profiting from it, and in essence hurting the atmosphere for other Brewers fans (and players) around you who choose to go. You guys know that we were playing them for first place this past weekend, right? Moreover, I don't care if you sell tickets to really any other non Cubs game ( maybe Cards).or playoff game. I like having a home field advantage. So, let's say the Brewers would play the Cubs in a one game playoff at Miller Park... still ok to sell your ticket to Cubs fans? Ok to put it on open market? Or as long as everybody else is doing it, I might as well cash in too? I have been to two Cubs games (out of the twenty or so games)over the last two years. I bought them on Stubhub... paid more than I did to any other game. I do not compare to season ticket holders, some who wonderfully go to nearly every game. So, I know that I too should make it a priority to get to more games against the rival team. I could get to more. Concluding, I'm glad to take the verbal jabs on this topic, ok to stand alone too. You really think the Brewers, our beloved team, wants 80% of the Field and Loge Infield covered with Cubs fans?
  4. Can't believe the team cannot do something to considerably help situation...
  5. Any way to not allow them on stubhub/online secondary market to inconvenience scalpers?
  6. Brewers need starting pitching..... Gray would be an answer. Now, that probably isn't enough for playoffs, but next year would look a lot better. Also, this rebuild has to include some key trades every year to retool and upgrade talent. This could be one.
  7. Age old question.....How do we fill Miller Park with more Brewers fans? We know Brewers fans are pretty good, loyal, etc. It's tough to see that this weekend when 75% of the fans are Cubs fans. Yet, we all know that if no Cubs fans showed up this weekend, there still would have been 30,000 Brewers fans plus at the game (partly because of lower prices since no idiot Cubs fans). Just general thoughts.... 1. Season ticket holders should to do a better job getting tickets to Brewers fans, or the Brewers have to make it a priority to get best seats to Brewers fans somehow. Some teams monitor accounts to see if tix are sold on secondary market and strip seats from season ticket holders. I would welcome that.... just don't see why our top seats need to fall into enemy hands. I mean, front row seats? Behind the dugout? Can't keep fans away, but best seats should be with our fans. Isn't there a system where season ticket holders share with other ticket holders ala Green Bay Packers? 2. Brewers could offer season ticket holders, group ticket leaders, and community groups Cubs seats as incentives to get more Brewers fans in the stadium. 3. I knew the Saturday game was sold out already in early March, reported as such. As soon as online sales started, eager Cub fans picked them up quickly while rebuilding Brewers fans didn't. When Brewers played well for the first few months, good seats couldn't' be purchased thru box office. 4. I would have liked to see Cubs seats being sold at a reduced cost just at the stadium box office for a few days when individual seats begin selling. Not a solution, but it'd help. 4. I've been to some Brewers/Cubs games over the years.... need to get to more to support the team. Overall, this was a huge Cubs gathering- weekend games in July, after a WS championship- perfect storm. Just want to see more Brewers supporters there...
  8. Kinsler and Granderson could really, really make our lineup look good.... and it wouldn't cost much in prospects you'd have to believe.... Santana Kinsler Braun Shaw Aguilar/Thames Granderson Pina Arcia
  9. Bullpen threw 7 innings of scoreless ball tonight, and gave up a bomb on a good pitch. Bullpen for the season is a different discussion but I have no idea why anyone is complaining about the pen tonight. Scoring late is even more of a concern than the bullpen..... that's saying a lot.
  10. Biggie.... Win tomorrow and Attanasio/Selig set up tents in Stearns office til the deadline! Hey, this is fun.... this is more like it. I am sitting, yet sweating.
  11. Short answer .. no. Tigers have few assets that could bring back prospect packages of good value. Think back to last summer, if someone offered few (& unranked) low A guys for Garza and Lucroy, would that have been enough?? If you suggest Zimmerman and KINSLER, I think there might be a better chance... If Garza had 3 plus years of a 20 million plus/year contract, then it would be more similar. The prospect package would be lower than Brinson/Hader, but how about Phillips/Ortiz/Gatewood/Villar?
  12. This has to be the steal trade of the deadline... Neshek is tough, perhaps the best arm to be had, and all that was needed was a #17 type prospect and throw ins? Equivalently, that would be like a Gatewood or Nottingham in return, plus a couple of fringe A ballers. I would do that in a heartbeat. Would this make us division champs? Maybe not, but our playoff odds would increase for not much of a cost.

  14. If we take on most of Jordan Zimmerman's salary, could we get Fulmer for a low prospect price? Zimmerman might be a good bounce back candidate, as well, coming back to his motherland state and the N.L. Detroit wants to trim that payroll. Mark A. Chomping at the bit to take it on...
  15. Wouldn't that be fun?
  16. I know it looks bleak and feels bleak.. Fact is, we win tomorrow, we'll feel a whole lot better about THIS season going forward.
  17. He should be starting. We need starters and he is a starter. We are trying to win and make the playoffs. Our better pitchers ( minus Knebel) should pitch more innings... we can't fill the gap with our bullpen as is.
  18. I heard the Saturday game was a sellout after a couple of days that seats were on sale. Also, fringe front runner Cubs fans from work are paying $43 for bad upper deck seats on Friday. Not going to be a Brewers crowd, sad to say.
  19. A terrible road trip..... 2-8 Swept by Pirates, had the lead in every cotton pickin game Worse- losing a 3 game series at Phily, the worst team in baseball Even Worse- losing 2 of 3 to Nats, losing the Wed. game hurt a lot; then the blowout Now.... I'd like to say we head home to comfy Miller Park, but that IS NOT going to be anywhere close to a home crowd. Not much is more demoralizing than having the Cubs fans in droves at your own park..... need to win soon
  20. Beltre was in the tv camera view of the pitcher/catcher/batter while on deck. When have you ever seen that before? He was basically asking to be kicked out. Yet, the ump could have just motioned with his hand to move the on deck circle back. Then again, the grace was telling him to move back to the batter's circle. Doesn't happen often but I've seen the on deck batter on TV before. And Beltre wasn't even that far, like 10 feet from the circle. In a 10 run game the ump was clearly looking for someone to toss. My guess is that he was looking and hoping for no issues, no close calls, no idiot stunts for the rest of the game .

  22. Gomez #21, whoops.
  23. None of the Rockies players are in their top 30 (MLB pipeline), correct?
