  1. The Rockies and Diamondbacks have fairly difficult schedules coming up.
  2. Something Brewers don't do..... Walk with two out and no one on Steal on the first pitch Score on a base hit.
  3. Villar and Garza...... the rope could not be longer. Garza.... if he throws up two more bad starts, he has to be gone. Or.... you could send this team player to the pen. That should work, no problems. Villar has a bad avg, bad contact, bad baserunning instincts, and even worse that that as a right handed hitter. To play him sparingly is one thing. To lead him off is indefensible. And no, the horse isn't dead yet. He's still leading off.
  4. On August 31, 1982, Don Sutton was traded to the Brewers. He arguably was the difference in getting the Brewers to the playoffs and World Series. I see Verlander in that light if we are still close on Aug. 31. If the price and prospect cost is right, it still is possible.
  5. Whatever.... for a series, sure. Ya never know. It's baseball. However, when you are playing very good teams for two, three weeks with many on the road? No. It matters big time. Nuh uh... So you obviously believe it matters, but to what extent?
  6. Garza needs to go.

  8. The leash cannot be longer. Others struggle and get demoted......quite a few actually this year. Villar plays regularly, leads off, fills in at center, and is treated like he is his 2016 version. Fact is, if he had an option, he isn't here. That is what I cannot get passed. You honestly want him gone, DFA'd? You want to see him a year for now being a productive player for one of the other MLB teams while we get absolutely nothing for him? Still can trade him.... run him thru the waiver wire and get something for him if he has all this potential talent. He's "Wang"ing (2014) up our bench now. Like I said earlier in a different thread, I didn't like Villar's game last year with Molitor like stats. Too many K's, eh defense, and beyond poor baserunning clouded my view of him last year.

  10. Include the two series after the road trip, as well (Cards, Nats). If we are anywhere within 3 games of division or wild card, I'd be thrilled. Just blind hope to want a winning road trip, but that is what we'll need to stay in the race. Also, we have to split at least with Cards/Nats. Go .500 in next couple of weeks and we stay as a possible, though not probable, playoff team.
  11. Also, technically, you could have slow pitch type softball pitches drop on the plate and be called a legit strike since the ball went through the 3D zone. Nit picky, I know, but I imagine big breaking balls nipping the strike zone low or high would be the pitch of choice for many, since batters would be thinking it would be an obvious ball by today's umps.
  12. True, but are we ready for robot strike calls on big breaking balls that look rather low (or high)?
  13. How about very limited replay until Labor Day? After, include even more replay with balls/strikes, with no reviews after a call isn't overturned Also, get rid of Foxtrax after each pitch
  14. Didn't realize that Cutch had an option...
  15. Maybe a Aug.31 type deal..... if we are in 1st or very clear we to Wild Card.
  16. I liked it better when Fox Trax was used sparingly on the telecast. Now, it's about every pitch. Also, I'm not convinced it is very accurate with offspeed pitches.
  17. Would probably have to add a prospect or two, now that I think again.... Or is Cutch an institution that would cost a lot more? Yet, the longer August goes, the cheaper he becomes, right?
  18. This would give Pitt a CF for 2018 plus and a little salary relief. This would give us an upgrade for 7 plus weeks. We have Brinson and Phillips for 2018.
  19. .187 BA leading off inning... .254 OBP leading off inning... Leadoff CF? Can't afford to get the guy out of the lineup? Is CC just playing with DS? Could there be a major disagreement here with this player?
  20. Nutso.... Bad leadoff hitter Inexperienced OF.... really CC? Really? Traded for a 2B because of hole there, but Villar still plays. If Villar has an option left, he's no doubt in CS playing infield. He doesn't so he's batting leadoff in CF for a contender? And AAA Dejesus is raking?
  21. Although he is hitting .000 as a pinch hitter. That makes him a worse pinch hitter than Villar, who is pinch hitting at .167 (not .333).
  22. Braun is a much worse pinch hitter than Villar, by that logic. Statistics say Braun is hitting .000 this season. Uh, it's not logic. It's math. It's factual that Villar has been quality as a sub this season. Not sure what you're debating. Villar is hitting .167 as a pinch hitter this season..... and yeah, it is logic that you are using. If you say Villar is better or as good as Sogard based on avg in limited pinch hit ABs, then Braun is waaaay worse than either. His avg is .000
  23. not a chance. suter, having already burned his 2017 option, could have been optioned to make room on the 25-man. the optional assignment would've required a minimum of 10 days, as does the disabled list. suter will be earning major league service time and the major league portion of his pay while on the disabled list. Good points... thanks.
  24. Any chance Suter is not even hurt.... just needed a guy to send down. Picked out the worst pitcher lately... A couple off days this week. A "strain" is like the perfect bogus injury...
