  1. Bringing this thread back up again because CC still batting Adames high in order like he is our best hitter…. .208 avg., .676 OPS. And just overall a terrible approach, swinging from his heals and it is no surprise he was the one hit in the head by a foul ball. Also, I can’t resist. Hiura has the best numbers by far in the entire system. I know he is hurt and all, but I am going to start banging this drum again…. Well tapping it quietly. Get him back up here when available so that he can hit better than most while striking out half the time. The Brewers offense is in need of a underachiever like Hiura. Anyone hear when he is expected back? It was supposed to be late June a few weeks ago.
  2. Should be in the Off Topic Forum….
  3. Teheran keeps pitching until he pitches a couple bad ones in a row. Six man rotation, sure, or let Lauer/Houser pitch in higher leverage late inning spots.
  4. Top 10 Combined Payroll- $2,392,000,000 (almost 3 times the payroll of bottom 10) Bottom 10 Combined Payroll- $877,000,000
  5. For the first time than I can remember… maybe the last 25 years at least, I see the biggest payrolls in baseball (top third)doing worse (4 teams in playoffs) than the smallest third (5 teams). And it is June 8! This is simply amazing to me. Let’s take a look. The top payrolls: Mets, Yankees, Padres, Phillies…. Out of this group, only one (Yankees) makes the playoffs on June 8. Together their record is one above .500. Each could still be in the playoffs yet with strong finishes but no first place teams here. If you take the top 10 payrolls….. Mets, Yankees, Padres, Phillies, Dodgers, Angels, Blue Jays, Braves, Rangers, Red Sox (51 games over .500 combined on June 8), only count ‘em 4 teams would be in the playoffs at year’s end (Yankees, Dodgers, Braves, Rangers). The bottom payrolls: Oakland, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay…. Out of this group, three (Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Tampa) make the playoffs on June 8! Wow! Looking at bottom 10 payrolls….. Oakland, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, Cincy, KC, Cleveland, Miami, Washington, Arizona- a combined 47 games below .500- 5 teams make the playoffs (Balt, Pitts, TB, Miami, Arizona). Overall, I find this fascinating. That small markets can compete and thrive in a no salary cap, crazy FA contract world says something about the system. Also to note, all of those top ten payroll teams COULD STILL play themselves into the playoffs. The Red Sox are .500 and only 5 games back of the AL WC#3. Every other top ten payroll team is WITHIN 5 games of the playoffs or in the playoffs on June 8. This cannot be said for the bottom 10 payrolls as some are out of contention already (Oakland, KC, Washington).
  6. We get another year of Turang with the move too. His defense alone brings him up later this fall, but with all the injuries I expect him back in a few days.
  7. And then there is the money and how much was offered.
  8. Urias and Hiura, two others that provided depth, also out. Crazy that we are in first, especially if you simply look at all the unknown names across our roster, bullpen especially. And Owen Miller is our bright spot!
  9. I do not take Pittsburgh seriously and will hope they beat Cubs/Cards well into September.
  10. Sveum, I think this is very perceptive and so under radar. Our defense is essentially keeping us in 1st place. It also should be incredibly encouraging that we can be even better with IL guys coming back, defense being more consistent than pitching/hitting, and doing this with our best starting pitchers (Burnes/Peralta) struggling.
  11. Still lots of negativity with the Brewers… Unthinkably, DS basically says no mas to 2023 and seemingly sits in a back room of AmFam. CC does not seemingly want to sign an extension. Attanasio not wanting to pony up $ to get offense the last July or this offseason. The whole ballpark fiasco and who splits the bill with owner being silent. No extension talks for any of the stars. Meh attendance. Now the trade articles with team in first. It’s a much different feel in Milwaukee than especially 2007/2008; or even 2011, 2018, or 2021. Burnes being unhappy with his millions this year and then pitching like Soup in a half dozen games fits the theme. Getting dealt while team is in first would, as well.
  12. Endless injuries. Are we winning the most guys on injury list this year? Anywhere t look for this?
  13. If we are talking 20 years, sure, all the above and more need to be upgraded or replaced. No shocker. Putting 20 million into the ballpark upgrades per year for 20 years seem much more right than 400 million seemingly more up front in the next 7. Maybe I am misreading this, but when the urgent matter is doubling the size of the video board, I can’t believe the roof and infrastructure are in dire need of major work.
  14. Brewers—— “You are looking hurt, bud.” Voit—— “Feel fine, actually.” Brewers—- “Must be feeling pretty stiff, though.” Voit—— “Nope.” Brewers—— “Well, then we need to let you, a healthy hole in the lineup, go.” Voit——- “ Now that you mention it, my shirt neck has been especially tight lately…neck stiffness, yes.”
  15. Gotta give Cutch those ABs against RHP last year….must have been what those seasoned MLB execs were saying to CC. His RHP ABs alone redistributed get us in the playoffs.
  16. Using WAR, sure, he looks bad. Yet his OPS was better than Adames, our maybe best hitter in 2022? Let’s not drag his name through the mud when that is true. Sign me up for Hiura in the 8th spot striking out 50% of the time if he can hit 30 HRs and be even a .750 OPS guy. Let’s just look at the bat and commit to him lower in the order. Our weakness at the MLB level is scoring runs. How about if we acknowledge that the NL has a DH and we actually consider Hiura for that position, especially if our current DH options are playing themselves out of playing time, and we really do not have other great options.
  17. In the lineup, in the field, on the road between AAA and Milwaukee, at end of games…. Jerked around. Yet, he hit .866 OPS against righties with an inconsistent 157 plate appearances
