  1. Against righties he has mashed, I’ll gladly take the Ks if he can get on base over 40% of the time with OPS over 1. And he was hitting well when they dropped him down to AAA. Since when has baseball been so down on the high K rate and high OPS? Isn’t this present day baseball? Is that what CC said to him when he left the team, “Man, that OPS needs to be a bit higher if you are going to K so much.” ?
  2. And against righties, he’s hitting .303, OBP .418, and OPS 1.070 in 76 PA. Awful, just awful, against lefties, though….161/.277/.491
  3. Started this one knowing another Hiura thread is out there, but tying this with Adames… First off, I was fairly surprised, not shocked, that Hiura was sent down several days ago. I figured he had some good games at the end of June and especially in July. In fact even now, his OPS is way higher than anyone’s in July (1.194) and .OBP too (.480) in limited appearances (24 PA). End of June wasn’t bad either. For a broader look, his yearly OBP (.354) and OPS (..805) should be considered extra good for him sure, but really almost anyone! How he was sent down had to be because of his almost 47% K rate. His pinch hitting status was awful because of it (4 AB, 4 Ks) too against high heat late relievers. Yet, I fail to understand how Hiura, with his limited defense, was sent to the minors while Adames hits in the #2 spot in the order about daily! Adames’ numbers are positive with spin when looking at HRs (20) and RBIs (54). His awful numbers overall are more concerning. His AVG. (215), and OBP (.289) are awful. Think about that. Is this #2 hitter stats? He needs to play, I know, as our SS. I am thankful that we have him. But does this scream #2 hitter? Put him at #7 or 8. Concluding, I feel Hiura could easily be on this team as a DH right now and part time 1B/2B. His overall numbers have actually been better than Adames, especially when talking about having a top of the order bat. Late June and July even help his case. If strikeouts and contact are your hang up, pinch hit him late innings with Brosseau. If his defense gets you down, play him DH or sub for him late. In a complex move, I’d like to see Hiura up for Caratini since Severino has no options remaining. However, I’d like Caratini back up in September as the backup when rosters expand to 28 players. Also, Severino cannot be on the postseason squad by rule of his suspension, yet he could be valuable to the team come 2023 with Narvaez likely gone via FA. Overall, I’m just not understanding the roster and lineup shuffle now. Adames needs to move way down in the order, and Hiura, after showing some signs of life (and while in Nashville), needs to be back up. His .OBP and power are being wasted so Adames can set the table (.289 OBP) for the heart of the order. And if Hiura isn’t your cup of tea, still get Adames out of there and move a hot bat (like Urias—- .July 286 AVG, .373 OBP, and .873 OPS ) up.
  4. Besides his throw to get Reggie at third in ALCS Game 5, I remember him for tearing up when his name was announced as he walked across Miller Park’s infield during the 25th anniversary celebration of the 82 team. Crazy what you remember… Who knew… 4th in team history for seasons played with ball club.
  5. I expect a real or convenient injury to Cain soon.

  7. He caught that ball.
  8. September weather
  9. She was great in one or a couple episodes of Cheers too.
  10. He deepens the pen, yes., and the option players can come back this season or next to help out. We agree. And yet you are totally overlooking his stats against lefties the last two seasons! That is the real story…. Whip under 1, ERA around 2. Stats against righties are down right awful if you take out his work against lefties. Loogy. How is a .677 OPS against him “down right awful”? Those were his numbers from last year against righties. You are right with the 20 innings against RHP in 2020. Yeah, that’s pretty good.

  12. This has to be clearly a lefty vs. lefty move and for those occasions when a couple of lefties are due up in the 6th/7th. By adding Norris a pretty good pitcher, maybe even better than Norris overall, has to go down. I would think Norris has very little rope to do poorly with others waiting in the wings.
  13. Guy most likely to be….. livin in a van down by the river. https://www.themanual.com/culture/daniel-norris-mlb-feature/
  14. Still think putting Yelich back to RF would be a reasonable thing since he was so good at the plate both years in RF for the Brewers. If he struggles in April, I would be quick to move him back.
  15. This is troublesome to me.... also overlooked. Having two RP without options (next year) in the back of the pen? What is wrong with this picture?
  16. I will tell you what a needle mover is...To me it's a player or players that you acquire, that almost EVERYONE in baseball or associated with baseball in anyway can clearly see by acquiring that player you made your team better for a pennant race, or into the postseason. They are a proven commodity, very consistent in what they do and will make an impact down the stretch...some examples of this...when the Brewers acquired CC Sabathia=HUGE needle mover...do they make the playoffs without him?? Absolutely NOT. When they acquired Zach Greinke=HUGE needle mover. When those two took the mound every night, you felt like you had a legitimate chance to win every night they pitched. You knew they were VERY unlikely to get shelled(it happens to everyone). Examples this year...Greinke to the Stros...that pretty much locks them in as the clear American league favorites to at least get to the World Series, and now with that rotation can go head to head with the Dodgers, easily. Shane Greene to the Braves...model of consistency, night in night out when he closes. he comes in, almost always he will finish it out...=Needle movers. What the Brewers did today are NOT needle moving moves...they can be I guess, but..you hope/wish/cross your fingers that it can. Not enough of an impact for it to be a CLEAR upgrade for anything. especially the rotation. so REALISTICALLY, what did you want the Brewers to do today? We all were expecting one decent starting pitcher, right? That didn't happen.
  17. I find it extremely odd that Dubon did not get a shot earlier in the year to start at SS. We had an opportunity for him, but Saladino got the call. It was deserved too, but Saladino is more seen as a utility fill in, not our next SS. I have to assume that Dubon was atrade chip all along, not someone thought highly of at all. I am fine with this trade, although on paper it looks like we lost it. I mean, our prettynear top prospect for a FA to be lefty and a big arm lottery ticket? We'll see. Pitch wins games and we need pitching, though. This helps our pitching depth.
  18. She liked milk with Pepsi, if I recall correctly. I remember Happy Days having a pregame reunion on field In Like 2007 or so.... Potsie sang the National anthem..... not sure if she attended or not. It was when Fonzi's statue was put up downtown.
  19. Harrison is Marlins' #1 prospect, according to Pipeline..... 163 Ks in 386 AB... WOW! Hitting 236
  20. Yamamoto doing well..... promoted to AA a little while back.
  21. Reactions... This is a let's win now move! We are looking to get better in the future and this year is part of that! Our deep system could not be protected in the near future, and this is a part of the need to trade players to clear near future 40 man spots. Would we rather have Yelich or Contreras (last year)? With Contreras last season, we probably make the playoffs. Yelich is top of the order bat we desperately need! Our system is still ripe with prospects.
  22. Trapped in Paradise... Nicolas Cage, Dana Carvey, Jon Lovitz. One of my favorite Christmas comedies. They rob a bank and get trapped by a snowstorm in the same town.
