  1. Fangraphs 61% Make Playoffs 50% Win Division
  2. Oh, but his defense! That is why they signed him...
  3. He would laugh and still want to leave.... a tool.
  4. Not retiring could be viewed, in itself, “the slightest interest” he has in coming back. Also, not playing in the Olympics is another reason why he could be coming back to MLB (and maybe the Brewers) in July/August. Furthermore, this guy loves the limelight and is kind of full of himself, right? How could he pass up coming back to the Brewers for a triumphant return and play in a pennant race in front of big crowds again? And, on top of this, he can play a part time position in an area of need. I lean to about 75% that he comes back to Brewers.
  5. Would it be wise to start Love Week 1? Why even put Love in this pressure cooker situation? If he plays poorly, like really poorly, how soon do you pull the plug and go with Bortles? How bad would the Packers look? It might be safer (maybe not better, I understand) to start Bortles. If things go fairly well with the team winning, Love could continue to develop like Rodgers did behind the scenes. And if Bortles flops, Love could play the role of savior and really have a month or two more time to learn the offense before game action. Moreover, Bortles might possibly be better or more polished than Love right now anyways. He would also be reunited with his former coach in Hackett. Fortunately, the running game is a strength and could be the focus. Like all, we are hoping to have a content Rodgers back, but I am not hopeful. The previously mentioned might serve the team better short term and long term.
  6. Baseball is almost unwatchable if it means 25 Ks, 10 BBs, about no SBs, and a few hits per game. That is what April and May were like in 2021, and it would keep more people away from the stadiums and TVs. Getting these foreign substances under control looks to be important.
  7. Let him rot for a year. Play Bortles. See what happens next year. He’s a whiny baby with no clue what to do.... temper tantrum.
  8. Technically true and wins are wins, we're counting wins against bad teams for the Brewers after all, but 7 of the Reds' last 8 wins have come against the Cardinals, who have lost something like 11 of their last 13 games and the Rockies, who are about as bad as the Pirates. They did win one game against the Brewers in the middle of that. That stretch of wins essentially got them to .500. Beating the Cardinals routinely for a stretch is a feather in their cap and enough to show they are respectable, IMO.
  9. Fangraphs 71% to make playoffs 58.6% to win division

  11. Both of the 7th inning games were of a double header, which means he closed the game, like it was the “9th”. I mean, come on dude. This isn’t hard information to look up. Fair enough. It was looked up... just didn’t remember the 7th inning double header was there last year too. Do you think he will pitch more than one inning this season?
  12. Read an article on Coach K vs Coach Wooden..... https://www.yahoo.com/news/commentary-mike-krzyzewski-greatest-only-165148357.html I have to put Coach K above Coach Wooden.... mainly because of the Olympic medals offsetting the championship deficit (5-10). Also, winning today in a 64 plus team tournament format with so many better teams and ruthless competition.... and the great equalizer three point line..... I have to give a slight edge to Coach K.
  13. 2020 8/14 Pitched 1 and 1/3 in 8th and 9th 9/14 Pitched 7th inning 9/25 Pitched 7th inning
  14. With Hader just pitching one inning, that is a major change this year. It is a relevant discussion on a fan site, right? If Hader is dictating to CC that he is only pitching one inning and one inning at most each appearance, that is also something. If so, is CC handcuffing himself by agreeing to this change? We still don’t know how strict CC is going to be or possibly needs to be with this, do we? Will this continue all season? Playoffs? All the preseason articles or links shown that talk about the usage change with Hader are interesting and topical (and thanks for those) but not really relevant to what is being brought up here. Yeah, we the fans are being told that he is being used differently this year. Sure. Seems to be working well, to boot. Great! I’m wondering about the why and how this all went down and it’s potential ramifications. Mutually agreed upon or dictated to? Part of contract negotiations? Strictly one inning? We don’t know, which makes each Hader outing extra interesting for me. It just seems something totally anti-CC to define these bullpen roles! He is the guy that coined the phrase “out getters” instead of starters/relievers. He has four starting outfielders. He changes lineups daily. He’s the guy that would pitch Hader to the middle of the lineup in the 8th to have someone else pitch the 9th. He thought outside of the box and didn’t care a whole lot about upsetting a guy’s feelings, if he’s in line for a win (or loss), a shutout, pulling him whenever. Versatility to the max. Yep, there are some ramblings and repetitive things have been written. My apologies. However, I do feel there is maybe something here. A strict no pitching Hader more than one inning mandate made by player/agent would be a story. It would limit what CC could or arguably should do in a game with the most versatile, dominant weapon in major league bullpens. Because of the non CC like changes made to the bullpen as a whole this season, because of Hader’s contract simply being renewed a couple of seasons back with player complaint, because of not pitching Hader even a third of an inning more in obvious, other year, Hader times, I wonder things...... things that haven’t yet been asked or probably will never be asked by the media.
  15. Very well said... Just so CC has this versatility at any time to put a Hader in in the 8th, and not handcuffed because of some mutual understanding between agent/player that he is strictly a one inning pitcher. That’s the heart of my point.
  16. Here is the second post in the thread: Here's a story with quotes: https://www.mlb.com/news/josh-hader-eager-for-more-appearances Here is a quote: Here is another story from Spring Training: https://mlb.nbcsports.com/2021/03/23/milwaukee-brewers-josh-hader-happy-with-more-defined-ninth-inning-role/ Sounds like Hader definitely wants it this way.....
  17. Giving this information away publicly would give a tactical advantage to the Brewers opponents. You don't want anyone to know exactly how and when Josh will be used. It already is public information. All you need to do is type Josh Hader into google, hit stats, and see 24 appearances and zero are multi innings. Pretty obvious how he is being used and will be used in the future. Nobody thinks we’re going to need him in the 8th with two outs and Williams struggling at 35+ pitches? I’d like to see us get to him occasionally in this situation against a big division foe, late season, or playoffs.
  18. Totally enjoying the ride... not complaining about Hader at all... just questioning his strict usage after years of versatility.
  19. None of this is a secret. Have you googled "Hader closer 9th inning"? Hader has straight out said he prefers this role and thinks it's helpful for him to know what to expect when it comes to how he's going to be used. Obviously the team agrees. I can't understand how anyone thinks this is some grand conspiracy. Hader prefers it that way and the team agrees. Glad we got to the bottom of that.
  20. Hoby Milner...... Hoby Milner was warming up hot on Thursday. He was seemingly coming in with bases loaded, two out, up two, to face a lefty. Hader was on two days rest. I’ll give it a rest now, but yeah...
  21. Wow has that narrative been falsely overblown. Check a bio! Was Fielder too short to play first, because he’s shorter than Hiura. Keston is 6’ tall. For all of his shortcomings this season, actually being short isn’t one of them.... My error and my apologies... might have been thinking Wong (who is 5’7”)
  22. What is “over the line” when it comes to discussing the game with referees? The refs have all the power and could have just as easily ignored Coach K’s whines.
