  1. Bingo. Remember the greatness of last years deadline? Pulled a last minute stunner. It really helped the team too! 🙄
  2. Maybe until it gets to October and they are getting boat raced by the Dodgers again. not even close to my 1st trade deadline either.
  3. He'll just say things like "we had several lines in the water but weren't able to get anything across the finish line". Yes, and why weren't you? Because you trembled in fear over having to give up what other teams were asking for. It's funny because no one else seems to have issues giving up prospects, but Arnold acts like they are his kids
  4. Arnold really isn't going to do anything, is he?? When he does, why in god's name does it always take him so long? Other teams get deals done sooner
  5. It's not the Cubs I'm concerned about, right now it's the Braves who are only 2.5 GB of the Brewers.
  6. I'm very serious. You don't think the guys are frustrated as hell after years of this nonsense? Remember how trading Hader tanked them that year? This can have the same affect, if not more so, you hear all the chatter about taking "big swings", and then he not only whiffs, but lets the team they are trying to beat for a WS appearance get him. I'd be LIVID if I were them. If you're going to talk the talk, then walk the walk.
  7. For anyone scoring at home, with the Yankees trade, that means the following current playoff teams have made trades(to upgrade their current rosters): Dodgers, Yankees, D Rays, Twins, White Sox, Braves, Red Sox(even though Mead got hurt). That leaves : Astros, Phillies, DBacks, Brewers, Cubs, Guardians that haven't. Only two of those teams Astros, and brewers lead their divisions, the rest are all wild cards. Yes, the deadline isn't until 5PM tomm, but Matt A must be so proud.
  8. A part of me(albeit a small part), hopes this team goes in the tank the rest of the year, to show their not happy about their GM's failure to get the "big swing" he was supposedly taking. He took a big swing...a huge swing and a miss.
  9. How do we know what the long term looks like? You don't, we don't and I don't. Right? Who has more impact for THIS year? Skubal or Henderson? I can't predict the future, for all we know none of the Brewers prospects will amount to much, then what? Then they wasted a golden opportunity to "go for it", even if it didn't work.
  10. Yeah but is that drastically different from last year when he hit 29 HR's? I can't imagine it's that different
  11. So many good options? I'd say so many mediocre options. Don't see a single major needle mover left out there. Unless they can pull someone unexpected.
  12. Okay maybe, MAYBE you'll get impact, But if/when the time comes, Contreras will likely be gone, Turang will be gone, and do we know for certain Miz will be healthy? No offense to you, but way too many people like to try to predict the future. I don't live in that world because literally anything can happen. I live in the here and now, and right now, Miz is healthy, you still have Contreras, you still have Turang, Bauers is having a career year, I mean if not now, then when? When can we be assured the time will ever be more right then now to literally "go for it"?
  13. D Rays give up their #15(Aidan Smith OF A+), #26(Gary Gill Hill RHP AA) and #27(Emilien Pitre 2B AA) prospects
  14. He'd have to waive his no trade clause. Brewers are on his no trade list
  15. I ask this respectfully...How many of those "prospects" do you think will truly ever be major contributors? Who gives you more impact, this year Tarik Skubal or one of those "prospects"?
  16. This development has been so bizarre to me...I mean he hit 29 HR's and knocked in over 100 last year. To watch him this year is just shocking. Like how does a guy drop that fast that quickly after having a season like he did last year? What the hell changed that quickly over the offseason that he's just a shell of what he was even a year ago. It's truly bizarre.
  17. I think it's more likely given how Arnold operates that he didn't even make an offer. Because if he was serious about "swinging" big, he'd have found a way to get this done and taken their chances. The Packers gave up two first round picks to acquire Micah, I was overjoyed that they finally had the balls to give up first round picks. They may never win a SB with him, but at least they put their nuts on the table and went for it. You can never be faulted for that.
  18. That the two time executive of the year wasn't willing to top this crap deal, just shows that he has ZERO stones. Heck it even sounded like the owner(his boss) gave him the greenlight to do anything he wanted, and he still wussed out. It may not have guaranteed a WS(nothing does) but it would have increased their odds and put them in a better position to do so. Instead now we get to puff our chests out about having the best minor league system in baseball still. That's certainly contributing to helping them win a world series this year.
  19. Holy crap, if the names in this article are even remotely close to who they are pursuing, then they really are/were swinging big!🙄My god, not a single needle mover in that group. In fact, not even close to anything helpful other than some Innings eaters. Big whoop. Arnolds killing it at the deadline once again!
  20. It's fun winning division titles and then crapping the bed in the playoffs? That's fun to you? You play to win the game(that means a WS), do you truly believe the Brewers are positioned to do that right now at this moment? Do you believe they are truly positioned in the best way they can possibly be(at this moment) to increase their chances of even making the WS?
  21. Do they hang a banner for that? If not, maybe they should since he's leading them to "greatness". Idk, Greatness to me is winning a WS, but I guess many are happy just making the playoffs and "seeing what happens". The old hope being used as a strategy. How many of these prospects will actually ever one day be major contributors to the Brewers? Because if anyone thinks even half of them will be, I have some swamp land to sell them. What good does having the best farm in baseball do you if, when the stakes are highest, you are too afraid to part with any of them? Who cares about Luis Pena or Josh Adamczewski or Braylon Payne? Does anyone realistically think all 3 of them will be major Brewer contributors at some point? Good luck, the odds don't favor it. As Theo Epstein said with the Cubs "if not now, then when"? You have the best young pitcher in baseball you don't think pairing him with the reigning two time Cy young award winner wouldn't send a message to the rest of the league and most importantly to the rest of the team? Who would want to deal with those two in the playoffs. Instead the Brewers will likely have to face him. I can't wait to see the two time executive of the years next move after this Holy crap, just wait baseball..because the Brewers were going for "big swings" and wait until you see what Arnold has up his sleeve now.. I'm telling you the Dodgers and the rest of the National league will be quaking in their boots when the Brewers are lining up Miz and Micahel Wacha 1-2 in the playoff rotation and then bring Anthony Sanzetela out of the BP later in the game in a high leverage spot. Talk about taking a big swing...that will set baseball ablaze at how huge of a swing that is. I feel bad for the current players who have a front office that apparently talk a good game, but then don't back it up when it matters most. Great message that sends, you value your future more than the present.
  22. Some fans here might be okay with Skubal going to LA, but I assure you, the people who matter most, the current players are NOT ok with it. People like to talk about how the Hader trade crashed the clubhouse, and it did. But what people don't get is so do NOT doing deals like this. Every single player on this team heard and saw the rumors that the Brewers were in on him and McCalvy's reporting that this year was different and they were going big game hunting. Hell some of the players even commented on it(leading up to the deadline) and Murph commented on it just last night after the trade was made. Do you think the current players and Murph, really give a rats ass about having to trade some prospects to give this team a better chance to win a WS? They don't and they shouldn't. They care about the here and now, and they should. No one knows what's going to happen in the future, and in a couple years Turang and Contreras and several others on this current roster will be gone and they will have never been. I shouldn't be surprised I guess that Arnold wussed out, and wasn't willing to do whatever it took to A. Give up what was needed(within reason of course), and B. to not allow the dodgers to get him. The thing is, he will NEVER have to answer for it. That's the worst thing about it. I would love to hear an explanation as to why he didn't get this done. I'm sure it would be some lame answer about "we didn't think it was in the best interest of the Brewers, blah blah blah." or " We did everything we could(obviously you didn't) and just couldn't get it over the finish line".Tell us why you think that. Tell us EXACTLY why, tell us why you weren't willing to give up more to get the deal done. But of course, he won't. Tell us what the breaking point was who they asked for that you wouldn't part with, or maybe...you never even made an offer, that's a likely possibility too. It's just gross. If not now, then when?
  23. A couple of texts from rival evaluators on what it took the Dodgers to get Tarik Skubal: 💬 "That's all?" 💬 "I'm shocked." EXACTLY how I feel. Brewers could have easily beaten that, but obviously wussed out, so they let him go to the Dodgers, the team they are hoping(but unlikely will) beat in the playoffs. Mark A must be so proud, he got to have another "summer of fun" for the fans. Matt Arnold doesn't have anywhere near the kuhunas Doug Melvin did. Can't wait to see all the Brewers great "prospects" in the bigs in the next few years after Turang and Contreras are gone. Melvin would have NEVER not gotten that deal done. Maybe it wouldn't have worked, but at least they would have tried and gone for it
  24. SMH...The brewers were once again all talk. There are no guarantees even with Skubal, but dammit, at some point you have to "go for it". If not now, when? Everyone here loves their prospects so much, and that's ridiculous. Can anyone of you tell me which of those prospects will ever be better than Tarik Skubal will be? I'm all ears if you can. So what you have him for 2 months, but you'd be putting yourself in position to finally get back to a world series. If it doesn't work, then it doesn't, at least you'd have been serious about giving it a shot. How do any of us know if miz will be healthy next year or in future years, or be as dominant as he has been this year. Turang and Contreras will be gone soon, and then what? Again, if not now, when? The equivalent prospects from the brewers system would have been Adamczewski, Braylon Payne and Blake Burke. Big freaking deal. This tells me the Brewers were NEVER truly serious about going after him, especially if it came down to whether or not they would give up Pena. Just unbelievable. Well actually sadly I guess it's not, this is the Brewers afterall.
