Anybody else have the sinking feeling that the Brewers may never win again?

For whatever it is worth, JJ leads the NL in fielding percentage at SS for those who've started 25 or more games - and that includes now-injured golden-boy Tulo. It just seems to me that batting 8th, JJ has been seeing very few fastballs. I remember reading somewhere that his homerun spurt came off a lot of fastballs (pitchers challenging him) before the league learned he was a decent fastball hitter. Since the steady supply of fastballs has been cut off, JJ Hardy doesn't seem to hit as much.

It should also be pointed out they can fire Weeks, Braun, Hall, Hardy, Bush, Parra, Hart, Gagne and Fielder. They could be DFA'ed, benched, in some cases sent outright to the minors. Agreed, but if they DFA, bench, or outright those guys, then I'll eat my polyester Brewers hat.

NASCAR Ned keeps saying the Brewers aren't firing on all cylinders. Well, that's for sure. But looking at the stats some others have posted lately means the Brewers aren't really firing on any cylinders. If you had an expensive sports car, which had its own mechanic, and every day you took the car out for a drive, and every day it breaks down, and every day, the mechanic just says "it's not firing on all cylinders," wouldn't you eventually just fire the mechanic?

Yost is about the 10th biggest problem right now. Yeah. But this can't be good for Yost. The Brewers won't just fire Weeks, Braun, Hall, Hardy, Bush, Parra, Suppan, Hart, Gagne and Fielder.

Wow. I must have been drinking a lot of KoolAid over the years. I expected this team would be pretty good. Why do I bother? Perhaps I should be watching the Diamondbacks.

Great discussion going on here. I hear you, but it is not in their best interests. The Oscars are and always have been a marketing tool. The Academy has no interest in promoting independent, "artsy," or foreign movies over well-crafted industry product.* Do you know how many people vote for the Oscars? The Academy? About 3000 people - the vast majority of whom are Hollywood film people. That's it. That's about as narrow a demographic as you get. If the billion people who watch the Oscars knew the rules... And the only thing I really disagree with is all the talk about Tootsie. Yes, it has sagged somewhat over time, but then so has every other movie Sidney Pollack made - something about his choices of music, wardrobe, etc. Out of Africa is much worse, over time than Tootsie. The thing about Tootsie that makes it good is the script. In it's day, it was a perfect Hollywood script that took a few more risks than its spiritual predecessor, Some Like it Hot. Tootsie's script threw every possible complication at this guy in drag: sexual harassment in the workplace, marriage proposals, stalkers, children, him coming face to face with his own professional and masculine failings, the object of his affection thinking he was a lesbian, and the prospect of being forced to carry out the charade indefinitely, and all with perfect structural logic, and all for the sake of Acting with a capital A. Any self-loving actor (like Dustin Hoffman) would love to play this guy. I'd bet that if the script for Tootsie was new today, it would get made again, and with only a few re-writes! I'm not going that far yet. I watched him go down hard in Los Angeles - to the point they were paying him several hundred thousand dollars per pitch. Bad stuff. But a good win today.
