  1. Come on Joey. That was as routine as could be.
  2. Coach owes him a beer for that K for sure
  3. So Lara had to start with an 0-1 count because of our 1st base coach? Did I hear that correctly?
  4. With a .487 OPS against lefties this year he should count himself lucky just to draw a start against one, regardless of what he did last night,
  5. Crap that’s right. Never mind. In all seriousness, while I do think MLF is not a leader and should be replaced, I’ll stop short of saying he can never win the Super Bowl. If they just happened to get hot and healthy at the right time and could overcome whatever buffoonery he’s up to in the playoffs, it’s not impossible. I don’t think many of us would accuse Mike McCarthy of being the football genius who orchestrated the run of 2010-11. Also we didn’t do anything at RB and the more that comes out, we should probably cut Josh Jacobs. Better hope Lloyd is legit and stays healthy.
  6. Not sure how much fire there is to the Josh Sweat smoke, but if they land him, my prognosis of the 2026 Packers is far improved from what I see at the moment. It’s hard to imagine a better rotation of pass rushers in the NFL down the stretch this year than a healthy Micah again, Sweat, an improved LVN, and Sorrell.
  7. Gasser really saved the day yesterday. Wonder if he’ll be sent down for his trouble. Either that or May going on IL has to happen.
  8. People are gonna scoreboard watch the Cubs whether they think they’re still in it or not. It matters regardless for the purposes of your magic number, popping champagne, it matters when you clinch for rest purposes, etc. just the way it is.
  9. We were rolling and decided to just start helping them. Why?
  10. Wait til you get BruisedCrew to weigh in on what is a safe lead.
  11. Surely he didn’t just decide to do that on his own.
  12. I really don’t get trying to steal a run that way in a game that you’re hitting left and right. Especially with 0 outs.
  13. The Mets can’t get any outs so I guess we feel we must do it for them.
  14. They are getting some amazing starting pitching since the deadline. But their bullpen has been balls and their offense can be hit or miss.
  15. Having a dedicated DH on the roster is great if it’s Yordan Alvarez because it’s worth it. Having a dedicated DH that is no better or worse of a hitter than your fielding position players is really kind of a detriment to everyone over the course of a long full season because you’re missing 162 opportunities to get other guys partial rest days who really need it.
  16. It’s about the only way for us to keep elite and even great players beyond their 6 years initial control, and who knows, that control may be less than 6 years after the new CBA. Even on a player like Brice Turang, the ship has sailed. We will not be paying him once he reaches free agency.
  17. Well, nowhere to go but up from his last start.
  18. And this is probably my biggest criticism of MLF. He isn’t a rally the troops, leader of men type guy. He’s an X’s and O’s football guy who is able to look the part when things are going right. When things start to go wrong, whether it be losing 5 straight games down the stretch last year or blowing a 21-3 lead in Chicago, he doesn’t seem to ever be able to figure out how to keep things from completely spiraling out of control.
  19. Yeah. Lara and Mitchell were the big ABs in the 9th that killed us. I get a kick out of people saying that Yan just made a great pitch to Mitchell, well ok, but you still need to swing the mother freaking bat in that situation
  20. I love Chourio but that AB in the 10th was gross,
  21. Not really fair, he delivered in the 8th inning in the last game against the Braves but no one followed him with anything so it doesn’t get remembered, and he was responsible for half of our RBIs tonight. But yes that was not a good AB in the 9th.
  22. If the Cubs win tonight the lead will be down to 4.5 from the recent 7 with 7 to play against them. If that is upsetting be upset at their play that allowed it to happen.
  23. If you get the out there you have about a 70 percent chance of making it to the 11th.
