    It’s tough to sweep, even for the Dodgers.

    Will always be the case though. They’re the Dodgers. Well run plus money. Sucks. Plenty of teams out there with money that don’t know how to run an organization, but the Dodgers are not among them.

    I would actually feel much better about facing Boyd again than Civale+Soroka.

    I actually didn’t see his double. That’s too bad if he’s that limited. You’re playing with fire with him even in the corners, then.

    I can’t really buy that Chourio can’t play CF. I know it’s a different animal than LF, but you still have to run. He had to run on his 8th inning double. If they had no other options, he could not play CF in a playoff game? I just can’t believe that.

    If it weren’t for the Brewer factor, I would still be feeling pretty decent. I didn’t get this jaded overnight. It took years of scars.

    Phillies look like they might take one today. You could argue there’s a pretty good amount of pressure on the Dodgers for Game 4 if they don’t win tonight, knowing they have to go back to Philly for Game 5 if they lose tomorrow.

    Bauers turned out to be the right lever to pull, but yeah, other than that, it was more of a lineup you expected on a random Sunday in July than a chance to win the NLDS game.

    Just want to add, perspective is a crazy thing. If Miz had blown Game 2… if Chourio’s fly ball to CF comes up just short and we lost Game 2, but tonight we got the huge hit in the 8th and won 5-4… We’d be feeling great right now. With the same series lead.

    I want to jump out to a 3-4 run lead tomorrow. Get them tight, get them to press , to chase. They’re still the only ones playing an elimination game tomorrow, so the pressure is still on. The Blue Jays jumped out to a dominant 2-0 start against the Jays, opened things up for the Yankees by blowing Game 3 and are cruising tonight. Hopefully we will follow a similar blueprint.

    Speculation is Boyd starting Game 4. Not sure if that will be the case but you definitely wouldn’t want Bauers starting.

    I'm at peace if we lose the NLCS to the Dodgers, although I’m sure I will be massively disappointed and bemoaning the inequalities of MLB’s structure. Just at least end the Cubs’ season, win a playoff series. That would be progress.

    Lockridge wasn’t the singular reason. I just want to see Murphy go with his best damn lineup tomorrow and if we lose with that and Peralta, so be it, but at least it was our best damn shot.

    I’m not quite there yet, but I’ll be there if we don’t win tomorrow. I’ve been kicked in the nuts by the Brewers and Packers too many times in the postseason to be oozing with confidence.

    I feel like it was pretty self-explanatory.

    Definitely nervous for the what-ifs about tomorrow .. because if you don’t win, there’s no staff anchor to turn to for game 5. You’re just trying to win a bullpen game any way you can.

    This is still just pure speculation. Lots of players have kids during the season and lots of players go through slumps.

    Yeah, I don’t really understand that with Chourio, though. It’s not like he’s a platoon bat who really struggles versus righties.

    I have kids. I love my kids, they are everything to me. I remember when they were infants and at no point, particularly months down the road, did I ever think of having babies at home as a “this is so distracting that I can’t possibly focus on my work” situation. As long as they are home with a capable mother, I don’t know why it would I be. Maybe he’s just slumping like many players do and this is just a made up explanation that we came up with that doesn’t have anything to do with it.

    Could be. I’m not saying we’re toast. But every bit of adversity is always going to feel like “here we go again” until we prove that it doesn’t need to feel like that anymore.

    He’s been fine. Chourio has been more than fine. Contreras has been fine. Turang and Frelick are the dudes who need to step it up.

    This kind of reminds me of 2019 when the Bucks were rolling in the ECF, up 2-0. The Raptors took everything they could to barely win Game 3 in overtime. The prevailing thought was “it’s fine. They don’t have enough left. It took everything just to get one win.” Only that’s not how sports work, and we didn’t win another game. Momentum is a real thing. Boyd could easily shut us down tomorrow, Peralta could have command problems and we could lose 8-1. It’s baseball. Or, we could get that big hit tomorrow and finish this. I really don’t know. But the Cubs aren’t finished just because they had to scratch and claw for one tonight. We will have to earn win #3 all the way.

    Yeah, I hate to feel this way… but it’s hard not to feel like “see it to believe it” at this point. There was no reason in Game 3 against the Mets last year entering the 9th inning to think that Bob Uecker’s last memory of the team would be a catastrophic blown save by one of the best closers in baseball… yet, I can’t say it was utterly surprising.
