  1. Another less than impressive outing from Jordan. To be fair, his numbers look completely different if Watson catches the easiest touchdown he’ll ever have.
  2. Great play McKinney. Needed that.
  3. Meant to say dog crap coverage at the end of that post- don’t know why it won’t let me edit.
  4. This is a bad defense when they aren’t forcing turnovers.
  5. Not even close. How do we play this stupid?
  6. LOL, I’m sitting there watching Van Ness for like 10 seconds just lining up a good foot offside. Nice work, Luke.
  7. Can McManus not kick it out of the endzone? Because if these are designed short kicks, it’s a dog crap strategy because we have dog crap strategy.
  8. I’m not saying they’ll get back into this, but 7-17 with momentum is a lot different than just a 17-7 game.
  9. The clock management sucked, per usual with MLF. There was no reason not to call timeout after the 1st and goal run by the 49ers, they unnecessarily burned 40 seconds there, then they got to midfield and played hero ball. They need to reevaluate their 2 minute offense. It sucks.
  10. Can never just put a team away. Always doing something to avoid doing that.
  11. Or just let a shorthanded team somehow hang around, like we always do.
  12. Quay Walker… lost in coverage. What else is new?
  13. Me too, and that’s kind of the problem.
  14. YOU know the count and you’re the one that jumps. Come on.
  15. Great start. That said, classic Quay Walker dropping the INT.
  16. Remember when we hired Fickell and the whole culture of Badger football was going to change, the recruits were going to flock to UW and we were going to start be a playoff caliber team in a couple seasons? That was a pretty fun couple months of thinking all that.
  17. I admittedly haven’t followed NBA Cup play whatsoever since it started to know if it’s anything that anybody really cares about or what kind of prestige is at stake other than a little extra cash for the players. But it’s nice to see the Bucks playing better lately. Giannis is still Giannis but bench options like Trent especially are probably better than we give them credit for and better than we’ve had in the past.
  18. Maybe this is a hot take, maybe not, but Quay is a bust. It’s actually kind of shocking that they continue to trot him out there week after week. He’s one of the worst defensive regulars in the NFL and at the center of nearly every defensive miscue.
  19. Aubrey just casually drilling a 64 yard FG in the 3rd quarter and having it pulled off the board because Houston committed a personal foul so now they can go for a TD.
  20. In the moment I thought they should kick for sure. Upon reflection today I can see either side. Part of the missing “context” for me is that the Bears have a really tough red zone defense. Unfortunately we just don’t seem to have great red zone weapons to give us a solid chance of converting those one shot plays.
  21. I will contradict my previous post a bit for a minute by agreeing with this and noting that this is something that is often overlooked by the “take the points” crowd. The risk/reward is not as simple there as a guaranteed 3 points versus a possible 6-8 points. If you forego the 3 guaranteed points and go for the 6-8 and fail, you still get a “consolation prize”, for lack of a better term, of 25 yards of field position versus position on the field if you take the 3 points. Getting nerdy and analytical here for a moment, a drive starting from your own 5 yard line has an expected value of -1.3 points, versus +0.2 starting from your own 30. These are obviously just general estimates with no game context, but they give us some rudimentary idea of the value of field position. So by taking the 3 points and losing the field position, you’re really only gaining +1.5 points in expected value. Now obviously, there’s plenty of times and situations where that guaranteed 3 points is really needed, so situations can vary, but they give us more insight into what coaches are thinking about going for it down there.
  22. Was MLFs decision to go for it on 4th and goal from the 6 early in the 4th quarter rather than kick the FG to make it 19-17 supported by analytics? It seemed like a lot more of an emotional decision than a rational one.
  23. MLF for some bizarre reason called his 3rd timeout after the completion to KA with 35 seconds left. Chicago had the timeout in their pocket and a 1st and 10 at the 30. They had the whole field to use, could run or pass the ball, and another 10 or 15 yards basically ices it.
