  1. The opposing starter in Wisconsin's game was Sean Nolin, whom the Brewers drafted but did not sign in the 50th round in 2008. As you can see, he's done pretty well with the Toronto as their 6th-rounder last year.
  2. Final: Nashville 4, @Iowa 3 Nashville box scoreMichael Fiers struggled a lot more with walks than we're used to but in the end turned in good results despite all the baserunners: 7 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 BB, 2 HBP, 4 K, 1 HR, 9/4 GO/AO, 96 pitches, 57 strikes. Mike McClendon picked up the save with a perfect 9th featuring two punch-outs. Taylor Green, natch, paced the offense with two hits and a walk and drove in three runs. Eric Farris singled and walked twice, Mat Gamel had a hit and a walk, and Caleb Gindl contributed a double. Farris stole two bases, giving him 13 now, but was also picked off. Nashville play-by-playFiers sprinkled a walk into seemingly most every inning, but he really battled his control here: Iowa Bottom of the 4thDJ LeMahieu hit by pitch.Bryan LaHair pops out to third baseman Mat Gamel in foul territory.Welington Castillo hit by pitch. 3. Final: Brevard County 6, @Palm Beach 3 Brevard County box scoreVery nice start by Nick Bucci: 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 HBP, 5 K, 8/4 GO/FO. As Toby pointed out, that's the third consecutive seven-inning start for the Baby-Faced Assassin, and fourth out of five. Jon Pokorny came on nominally in relief in the 8th and promptly allowed three runs without getting an out; fortunately BC had enough in their pocket to survive, having just plated runs four and five in the top half of the inning. Scooter Gennett paced the offense with three hits and a walk, and D'Vontrey Richardson was almost as good, tallying a double, single, walk, and stolen base (he's almost at 50% now). Kentrail Davis, Hunter Morris, and Scott Krieger joined D'Vo with two knocks. 4. The second DSL game was suspended two batters into the bottom of the 1st inning, but the Marineritos have already struck for three runs in the top half. Bastards.
  5. Final (game one): DSL Mariners 11, @DSL Brewers 7 (7 innings) DSL Brewers box score The 'Ritos just can't beat those damn Marineros. The D-Crew is 4-9 against them now, which accounts for the entirety of the D-M's division lead; the Cerveceritos are 23-7 against the rest of the league. Adding insult to injury, they lead 6-0 today after two innings only to blow it in spectacular fashion. In a good news/bad news situation, the good news is that young righty Milton Gomez made his first appearance in almost a month; the bad news is that he gave up four runs in two innings. Similar performances were turned in by Juan Francisco and Orlando Torrez; Torrez had only allowed two runs in seven games this year but allowed three in 1.2 innings today, albeit all unearned. Happily, Orlando Arcia continues to stroke it, tallying two more hits today, including a double. Esthervin Matos likewise keeps impressing, on base three of four times today with a single, walk, and HBP (and no errors today!). Elvis Rubio's slow climb back to respectability marches on with a single and yet another HBP--stay healthy, my friend. 18-year-old middle infielder Francisco Castillo racked up three hits, and elder statesmen Dionis Hinojosa and Deivi Mejia continue to produce with the lumber. There will be (was) a second game, but the box score has yet to be filled. 7. Final: @DSL Cardinals 8, DSL Brewers 4 DSL Brewers box scoreJoel Dicent and Angel Ventura fared poorly, but Osmel Perez pitched for the first time since 6/29 and did so very well, allowing just a hit in two scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Great to see the Wizard of Os back on the mound. Orlando Arcia continued his resurgence, 2-5 with a double and his fourth homer. Esthervin Matos singled and walked, and Elvis Rubio was on three times, once with a single and twice the hard way; he's been plunked six times in 72 PAs, and this is his second two-HBP game. Matos committed yet another error. DSL Brewers play-by-playThe DSL provides too much stimulus for my addled brain to process near midnight, but be my guest.
  8. Final: Huntsville 8, @Montgomery 2 Huntsville box scoreCody Scarpetta was pretty good, if a bit wild: 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 5 K, 4/4 GO/AO. Despite the walks, he still only threw 90 pitches in his six frames (53 strikes). Zelous Wheeler and Matt Cline each homered as part of two-hit games, and Logan Schafer joined them with a triple and a single. Rob Wooten finished the game with a perfect 9th. Erik Komatsu singled, walked, and stole his 13th base; Lee Haydel also walked and bagged his 11th bag. 9. Final: Brevard County 8, @Palm Beach 7 Brevard County box scoreThe Sea Cows won, no thanks to Austin Ross: 2.1 IP, 5 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 5 BB, 0 K, 1 HR. Yeesh. Thankfully, Efrain Nieves, Roque Mercedes, and Bradley Blanks shut the Cardinals down the rest of the way and allowed the 'Tees to come back--which they did behind a torrent of hits. D'Vontrey Richardson led the way with three hits, including two doubles; you know it was a good day for D'Vo because he wasn't caught stealing and didn't commit an error. Scooter Gennett, Kentrail Davis, Hunter Morris, and Shawn Zarraga all had two hits each; Kentrail also picked up his 26th steal (though he was also caught once) and an outfield assist. Khris Davis had a fine day with a hit and a walk, but for once he let his teammates do the heavy lifting.Brevard County play-by-play A four-run 7th put BC over the top: Brevard County Top of the 7thKentrail Davis singles on a line drive to center fielder Adam Melker. With Hunter Morris batting, Kentrail Davis steals (26) 2nd base.Hunter Morris triples (5) on a line drive to center fielder Adam Melker. 13. Final: Albuquerque 9, @Nashville 5 Sounds Drop Homestand Finale To Isotopes, 9-5Nashville Sounds NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds closed out their homestand with a 9-5 loss to the Albuquerque Isotopes on Sunday evening at Greer Stadium. With the victory, Albuquerque took three of five in the series against the Sounds (43-52) and won the season series between the clubs by a 10-6 margin. Five of Nashville's eight hits on the night went for extra bases, including a pair of doubles off the bat of Erick Almonte. The Sounds jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair of first-inning runs against Albuquerque starter John Ely. Shortstop Eric Farris led off the Sounds' first with his fifth home run of the year, a solo shot down the left field line. Nashville doubled its advantage later in the frame when Almonte doubled and scored on a Taylor Green single. Nashville upped its lead to 3-0 in the second when Jordan Brown opened the frame by bouncing a double over the right field wall and later raced home on a Farris sacrifice fly. The two-bagger extended Brown's hitting streak to six games, the longest active on the club. Albuquerque evened the score at 3-3 in the top of the fourth against Sounds starter Amaury Rivas. With runners on first and second, Jamie Hoffmann hit a grounder to short and Farris misfired into right field on the force attempt, allowing ex-Sound Jay Gibbons (3-for-4) to score the visitors' first run of the night. A.J. Ellis followed with a game-tying, two-run double to left. Trayvon Robinson put the visitors in front, 7-3, in the fifth when he slugged a grand slam off Rivas, his team-leading 23rd roundtripper of the year and the PCL-leading sixth bases-loaded blast served up by Sounds pitching this season. To fill the bags for Robinson, Ivan De Jesus Jr. singled and Gibbons and Russ Mitchell drew back-to-back walks. Nashville got a run back in the bottom of the fifth in unearned fashion against Ely. Farris led off and reached on a fielding error by shortstop Dee Gordon and later scored on a Mat Gamel groundout to make it a 7-4 contest. The Sounds reduced the deficit to 7-5 in the eighth when Brown slapped a two-out RBI single to right to plate Green, who led off with a double against Isotopes reliever Travis Schlichting. Albuquerque tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the top of the ninth against Donovan Hand to stretch its advantage to 9-5. Ellis and Joe Becker did the damage with back-to-back two-out RBI singles. Ely (6-4) picked up the win after allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits over five innings of work. Rivas (6-9) suffered his team-leading ninth loss of the year for the Sounds after giving up seven runs (six earned) on four hits while walking five batters and striking out one in his five frames of action. The right-hander went 0-4 in four starts against Albuquerque this season. The Sounds travel to Des Moines, Iowa tomorrow to begin a stretch of eight straight games against the division-rival Iowa Cubs. The teams will play a four-game series at Principal Park before continuing to Greer Stadium on Friday to play four more. Right-hander Frankie De La Cruz (3-6, 4.51) will make the start for Nashville in Monday's 7:05 p.m. series opener. Iowa will counter with right-hander Alberto Cabrera (1-2, 7.00). Nashville box scoreRivas certainly has no pitched well this year. Dan Meadows contributed a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. Farris was at shortstop and Green at second base again; Farris committed a throwing error, his sixth in 20 games there. Nashville play-by-play
  14. Final (game one): @Montgomery 4, Huntsville 3 (7 innings) Huntsville box scoreMichael Bowman continues to get hammered, allowing four runs on ten hits in five innings. Santo Manzanillo worked a scoreless frame but didn't strike anyone out. The Stars actually fared pretty well against Rays megaprospect Matt Moore, scoring three runs off him in 5.2 innings while tallying six hits and two walks. Erik Komatsu had two hits, one of them a double, and Hainley Statia and Matt Cline also had two knocks. Lee Haydel did not play for the second straight day. Huntsville play-by-playSingle runs in the 5th and 6th narrowed the gap to one, but the Stars left a runner on second in both innings, plus the 7th: Huntsville Top of the 5thHainley Statia singles on a line drive to center fielder Isaias Velasquez.Matt Cline pops out to first baseman Henry Wrigley in foul territory.Logan Schafer singles on a line drive to left fielder Stephen Vogt. 16. Final: Brevard County 7, @Palm Beach 0 Cardinals Manage Just Three Hits in 7-0 LossTyler Krochmal/Palm Beach Cardinals JUPITER, Fla. - The Palm Beach Cardinals (13-11, 42-51) were out-hit 11-3 and managed just five baserunners all night in a 7-0 shutout loss to the Brevard County Manatees (9-12, 36-55) Sunday evening in game one of a four-game series at Roger Dean Stadium. Blaine Boyer (0-1, 9.53 ERA) suffered the loss in his second appearance of the season with Palm Beach, allowing three earned runs off two hits and a walk. Boyer, a right-hander who was signed by the Cardinals as a Minor League free agent July 7, has spent parts of seven seasons in the Major Leagues with four different teams (including St. Louis) but had never made a start until last week. The 30-year-old veteran cruised through the first three innings without allowing a hit until Scooter Gennett led off the fourth with a single. Hunter Morris drew a one-out walk to put two on for Khris Davis, who hit a towering three-run homer, his 15th of the year, to left that would ultimately stand up as the game-winner. Arquimedes Nieto replaced Boyer to begin the fifth inning and set the 'Tees down in order before running into trouble in the sixth, beginning with a one-out single from Davis. Morris followed with a single to center and Kentrail Davis knocked home one with a dribbler back to the mound. D'Vontrey Richardson followed with another run-scoring hit and Shea Vucinich capped the scoring with a deep sacrifice fly to left, leaving the score at 6-0 after six. The Manatees strung together three hits again to begin the seventh inning to add on another insurance run and end the night for Nieto, who ended up allowing seven hits and four earned runs in 3.0 innings. Right-hander Chris Corrigan finished out the game for Palm Beach with two scoreless innings. Ted Obregon recorded two of the Cardinals' three hits on the night, with Adam Melker contributing a sixth-inning single as well. Brevard County starter R.J. Seidel (3-3, 3.31 ERA) allowed just one hit and struck out five through 5.2 innings and Evan Anundsen picked up his first save with 3.1 scoreless innings of relief. Palm Beach will look to bounce back from the tough loss tomorrow night as right-hander Richard Castillo (0-2, 7.94 ERA) takes the hill against righty Austin Ross (0-1, 5.06 ERA) for the Manatees. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Roger Dean Stadium. Brevard County box scoreVery nice work between the two 'Tees hurlers. Khris Davis had three hits, which is very ordinary. The other Chris, Dennis, had two hits, which is pretty out of the ordinary considering his performance at BC so far this year--he had only three entering the day, in 44 PAs. D'Vo continues to stuff the stat sheet in creative ways, getting caught stealing for the ninth time and picking up another outfield assist. Brevard County play-by-play
  17. Final: South Bend 7, @Wisconsin 6 (14 innings) Hawks 14th inning homer beats RattlersChris Mehring/Wisconsin Timber Rattlers GRAND CHUTE, WI – Matt Helm hit a two-out solo home run in the top of the fourteenth inning to provide the winning margin for the South Bend Silver Hawks over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Sunday afternoon at Time Warner Cable Field. South Bend topped the Rattlers 7-6. Wisconsin (47-46 overall, 9-14 second half) got off to a start that was as hot as the weather. The Rattlers scored three times in the bottom of the first inning. Mike Walker and Jason Rogers collected back-to-back RBI doubles for a 2-0 lead. Later in the inning, Cody Hawn scored on an error. But, South Bend (42-50, 8-15) rallied to take the lead. They scored twice in the top of the second inning on an RBI triple by Gerson Montilla and an RBI grounder by Roberto Ortiz. The Hawks added three runs in the top of the fourth inning. Roberto Rodriguez tripled in a run and would score on a single by Montilla. Later in the fourth, Niko Gallefo drove in Montilla for a 5-3 lead. Wisconsin rallied back to tie the game with single runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Chad Stang tripled with one out in the sixth and scored on a ground out by Joey Paciorek. Rogers delivered an RBI double with two outs in the seventh to even the score 5-5. The score stayed that way until the eleventh. Greg Holle, who had pitched three scoreless innings, gave up a leadoff double in the top of the eleventh. Adrian Rosario relieved Holle and retired Ender Inciarte on a sacrifice bunt that moved the go ahead run to third. Then, Rosario threw a wild pitch that let in the go ahead run. But, the Rattlers responded in the bottom of the inning. Reggie Keen singled to start the Wisconsin half of the eleventh inning. One out later, Walker singled to send Keen to third. Rogers followed with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at six. Rosario retired the first two Silver Hawks in the top of the fourteenth. But, Helm would drive the first pitch he saw in the fourteenth over the wall in left for his fourth home run of the season. Hawn would single to start the bottom of the fourteenth to extend his hitting streak to 17 games. But, Hawn was left stranded at second base when the game ended. The Rattlers and Silver Hawks wrap their series on Monday afternoon at Time Warner Cable Field. Game time is 12:05pm. Wisconsin has Brooks Hall (4-2, 4.14) as their scheduled starting pitcher. South Bend has Tyler Green (3-4, 4.91) heading to the mound. Monday is a bonus Baker Tilly Business Person's Special on Monday with a box seat ticket, a beverage, and a brat or hot dog for $11.50 and a business card. Senior citizens may take advantage of this deal, too. Plus, it is a Qdoba Q*Monday. Fans receive a free ticket to any Monday home game when they purchase a lunch entrée at the Qdoba by the Fox River Mall. Also, the first 1,000 fans will receive a poster of Brooks Hall, which is poster #8 in a series of 10 that are being given away during the 2011 season. Wisconsin box scoreWell, the in the Holle profile today the Rattlers said they wanted to stretch him out--what better chance than a 14-inning game? Tough duty for Rosario too, though at least he's been a starter for most of the year. Stosh Wawrzasek turned in a nice outing, 2.2 scoreless innings with a 2/0 K/BB. Keen had a great day, on five times in seven trips with three singles and two walks; remarkably, he didn't steal a base in all those opportunities, though he was caught once. Walker was nearly as good, on four times, including three hits. TJ Mittelstaedt did not play. Wisconsin play-by-playChance to win in the 13th: Wisconsin Bottom of the 13thFranklin Romero pops out to second baseman Niko Gallego.Reggie Keen pops out to second baseman Niko Gallego.Nick Shaw singles on a ground ball to left fielder Roberto Rodriguez.Michael Walker singles on a fly ball to center fielder Ender Inciarte. 18. Final: Albuquerque 3, @Nashville 2 Sounds Drop Pitching Duel To Albuquerque, 3-2Nashville Sounds NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds lost a 3-2 pitching duel to the Albuquerque Isotopes, as two Pacific Coast League All-Star starting pitchers tossed fine pitching performances in front of more than 8,000 fans at Greer Stadium on Saturday night. Albuquerque All-Star and former Sound Dana Eveland (9-5) picked up a victory after surrendering just one run on three hits in seven innings of work. Nashville All-Star Sam Narron (4-4) matched with a quality start of his own but came away with a tough loss. The left-hander gave up two runs on seven hits in six innings of work, tossing a season-high 119 pitches. Nashville (43-50) has played in a PCL-high 42 one-run games this season, going 18-24 in those contests. The Sounds' 24 one-run losses are most in the PCL and account for nearly half of the club's total defeats. The Isotopes jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Ivan De Jesus Jr. led off the contest with a double off the right field wall and later scored as third baseman Russell Mitchell singled to left. The Sounds lineup was hitless through the first three innings before outfielder Caleb Gindl looped a single between the second baseman and right fielder. First baseman Erick Almonte followed by lining a base hit to center field. Albuquerque left fielder Trayvon Robinson untied the game in the top of the sixth inning with his 22nd home run of the season, a solo shot off the guitar-shaped scoreboard. The home run moved Robinson into a tie for third place in the PCL. The Isotopes tacked on their final run in the next inning for a 3-1 advantage. Reliever Donovan Hand came into the contest and gave up a solo homer on the first pitch to Corey Smith off the out-of-town scoreboard in left field. The home run was Smith's seventh of the season. The Sounds rallied in the bottom of the ninth to come within one run at 3-2, but failed to come away with a victory. Catcher Mike Rivera and outfielder Brandon Boggs each worked a two-out walks off Albuquerque reliever Merkin Valdez, followed by an RBI single by Jordan Brown that chased the reliever from the game. Closer Justin Miller then came into the contest and struck out pinch-hitter Taylor Green looking on a back door slider to end the contest and pick up his third save of the season. Hand fanned three while giving up the one home run in two innings. Daniel Herrera finished the game for Nashville with a scoreless ninth inning. In his first game at third base for the Sounds, Mat Gamel went 0-for-2 to snap his season-best 11-game hitting streak, the longest active streak on the club. The Sounds and Isotopes wrap up their season series at 6:35 pm CT on Sunday evening at Greer Stadium. Right-hander Amaury Rivas (6-8, 4.41) takes the mound for Nashville against right-hander John Ely (5-4, 5.18). Nashville box scoreDana Eveland will turn 28 in a few months; I can't decide whether that's surprisingly old or surprisingly young. Gamel did draw a walk and was also hit by a pitch; he also committed a throwing error, surely inspiring confidence in his ability to man the hot corner for the big club. The summary has Gindl with a single, but the box score shows his only hit as a double. 20. Final: South Bend 5, @Wisconsin 4 South Bend edges Rattlers, 5-4Chris Mehring/Wisconsin Timber Rattlers GRAND CHUTE, WI – The South Bend Silver Hawks built a 5-1 lead and held off a late rally by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Saturday night at Time Warner Cable Field. The Rattlers scored twice in the eighth and once in the ninth, but fell short 5-4 to their Eastern Division rivals. The Silver Hawks grabbed the early lead with back-to-back, two-out home runs in the top of the first inning. Earlier in the inning, Ender Inciarte tried to score from second on a single to left by Zach Walters. But, Chad Stang threw out Inciarte at the plate for the second out. However, Yazy Arbelo, the Midwest League leader in home runs, was up next. He lifted an 0-2 pitch from Rattlers starting pitcher Del Howell over the wall in left for his 23rd home run of the season and a 2-0 Silver Hawks lead. Raywilly Gomez was next and he drove a home run off the scoreboard in left-center. That put South Bend up 3-0. In the top of the second inning, Roberto Rodriguez tripled to start the frame. One batter later, Roberto Ortiz sent a weak grounder up the first base line. Ortiz was retired, but Rodriguez scored to put the Silver Hawks up 4-0. The Rattlers (47-45, 9-13) came back in the bottom of the second. Mike Walker and Stang singled one out apart to put runners on the corners. An RBI grounder by Tony Pechek sent Walker home with Wisconsin’s first run. The score remained 4-1 until the top of the sixth inning. Matt Helm cracked a home run to left to lead off the inning and the Silver Hawks picked up a big insurance run. Bradin Hagens was the starting pitcher for South Bend and he worked seven innings. Hagens struck out seven and allowed one run. The Rattlers started their comeback attempt against reliever Blake Cooper. Franklin Romero, Jr. started the bottom of the eighth with a single. An error on a Reggie Keen grounder to third sent Romero around to third base. A wild pitch by Cooper allowed Romero to score. Later in the eighth, Keen scored on an infield grounder by Greg Hopkins and the Rattlers were within 5-3. South Bend went to Eury De La Rosa in the bottom of the ninth, but Cody Hawn started the inning with a double. Hawn, who had also singled in the seventh inning to push his hitting streak to 16 games, was replaced by pinch-runner Mike Brownstein. Pecheck’s infield single with one out put runners at the corners and brought the winning run to the plate. Romero’s sacrifice fly to center got Brownstein home to make the score 5-4. But, the Rattlers would get no closer. The series continues on Sunday afternoon at Time Warner Cable Field. Charly Bashara (3-3, 4.30) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. South Bend has J.R. Bradley (3-12, 5.10) as their scheduled starter. Game time is 1:05pm. Sunday is Strike Out Cancer Day at the ballpark. One dollar for every ticket sold on Sunday will be donated to four area cancer charities. Wisconsin box scoreHowell gave up three homers, and he wasn't even the only pitcher in the system to do that today, as you'll see when the sordid tale of Eric Arnett is told in the Helena recap. He allowed two runs in the 7th, but it was a two-out, two-run homer off Robert Hinton in the 8th that baked the Biscuits. Anderson de la Rosa poked a two-run homer, Brock Kjeldgaard had two hits, and Logan Schafer walked twice. Lee Haydel and Martin Maldonado did not play. 23. Final: @Jupiter 9, Brevard County 5 Brevard County box scoreNobody pitched well, so let's dispense with discussion of that, except to note that Rolando Pascual's ERA is now over 11 and richly deserved; whatever the Brewers were hoping for with his surprising promotion to BC, it ain't working. Scooter Gennett rapped three hits, including a double, to lead the offense. Shawn Zarraga singled and walked, and D'Vontrey Richardson bagged a triple and an outfield assist. Chris Dennis drew a walk as a pinch hitter, the first time he's reached base since being re-promoted. I marveled at the pickoffs in the DSL game, so it's only fair to note that Hiram Burgos had two himself--and he's right-handed. 24. Final (suspended game): Albuquerque 8, @Nashville 4 (13 innings) Sounds Fall To Isotopes In Completion Of Suspended GameNashville Sounds NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Albuquerque Isotopes belted a pair of homers and plated five runs in the top of the thirteenth inning to post an 8-4 victory over the Nashville Sounds on Saturday evening at Greer Stadium in the completion of Friday night's game that was suspended early Saturday morning. All five runs came against Sounds right-hander Frankie De La Cruz (3-6), who took the loss for Nashville (43-50). First baseman Russell Mitchell led off the Albuquerque thirteenth with a solo blast to left-center, his eighth longball of the year. Later in the frame, a pair of walks came back to haunt De La Cruz as Ivan De Jesus, Jr. lined a run-scoring single to left before ex-Sound Jay Gibbons mashed a three-run homer to right to extend the visitors' lead to 8-3. It was the slugger's fourth tater of the year. Nashville plated the game's final run in the bottom of the thirteenth when pinch-hitter Mike Rivera led off with a single and later scored on a Jordan Brown sacrifice fly. Reliever David Pfeiffer (1-1) earned his first win of the year for the Isotopes after allowing one run on two hits in two innings. In the contest, the Sounds held a 3-1 lead in the ninth inning before Albuquerque scored a pair of late runs against Sean Green to force extra frames. The game was suspended at 12:59 a.m. early Saturday morning at the conclusion of the eleventh inning with the score tied at 3-3 due to the enforcement of the PCL's curfew rule. Right-hander Josh Butler continued his recent dominance on the hill as he dominated the Isotopes for the second straight start, hurling 5 2/3 innings of scoreless, one-hit ball. He walked one batter and struck out five during his 76-pitch outing, but was left with a no-decision for his efforts following a late blown save by the Nashville bullpen. In his last four starts, Butler has recorded a 1.85 ERA (5er/24.1ip) while striking out 25 batters. Nashville jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning against Isotopes starter Randy Keisler. After Caleb Gindl (single) and Brett Carroll (walk) reached with one out, both players scored on Taylor Green's RBI single to right combined with a throwing error by Gibbons. Green came plateward with the frame's third run when Mat Gamel followed with an RBI tapper back to the mound. The Sounds missed a chance to add to their advantage in the sixth. After Nashville loaded the bases with no outs against Albuquerque reliever Ramon Troncoso, the right-hander escaped the jam unscathed as Gindl grounded into a forceout at the plate then Erick Almonte was gunned down at the plate by left fielder Jerry Sands following a Brown flyout. Albuquerque broke up the Sounds' shutout bid in the top of the eighth. After loading the bags with no outs against Daniel Meadows, the left-hander retired De Jesus Jr. on a flyout before Gibbons delivered an RBI single to right to bring home Damaso Espino with the Isotopes' first run. Brandon Boggs came up firing and threw out Jamie Hoffmann at the plate as he attempted to score a second run on the play. It marked the 15th runner that Nashville outfielders have gunned down at the plate this season. The Isotopes rallied to tie the game with a pair of ninth-inning runs Green, who suffered his second blown save in eight tries for Nashville. Trayvon Robinson led off with a single off the right field wall and moved to second when Russ Mitchell walked. After Justin Sellers advanced both runners a base with a sacrifice bunt, Espino (3-for-4) lined a game-tying, two-run single up the middle to make it a 3-3 contest. Sounds shortstop Edwin Maysonet snuffed out the visitors' attempt to take a lead in the top of the twelfth inning when, with runners on the corners, he threw out Dee Gordon at the plate as he attempt to score on a Gibbons grounder. Gamel singled in the fifth inning for Nashville to extend his longest hitting streak of the season to 11 games. Nashville box scoreSo, about FDLC being a reliever... Anyway, MH wrote up the first 11 innings yesterday. Caleb Gindl reached three times in seven PAs on two singles and a walk. Nashville play-by-play
