  1. Well if anything positive can come out of the Cards winning the World Series, this is definitely one of them. I'm assuming Duncan will be leaving too since they have worked together since the 80's. He was definitely an intelligent manager but undoubtedly benefited greatly by having many of his superstar players taking steroids. Also, Ozzie Smith is probably doing cartwheels and backflips in his house since he despised La Russa.
  2. Wow what Cruz doing out there?
  3. Not very classy back to back HR's by Beltre and Cruz.
  4. Well Pujols is 31 so I'm not sure how he removed himself from the Pujols discussion by that statement.
  5. You are right, however I believe the Cubs will get Pujols and not Fielder for those exact reasons. Pujols is the better option and Epstein knows he cannot hide Prince's bad D at DH like he could with Ortiz. My money is on Prince going to either Seattle, Anaheim, or Baltimore.
  6. I really want JHJ to be back next year to take over Counsell's roll, however, I just get this feeling that some team will offer him a chance to play everyday due to his success when finally taking over for McGehee. Guess time will tell but that is my fear.
  7. That is not what he is saying, he making an observation that the Brewers looked deflated when there was still alot of time left in the game and appeared to have given up. I can't exactly blame them considering their pitching couldn't get anyone out and they were constantly playing from behind the entire series. I have no clue how you can come to such a conclusion based on what he wrote considering how condescending your reply was.
  8. Watching that replay made me mad all over again. Why on earth was he going to second on that play? It seemed like Yuni was jogging the whole time and didn't even try to make a play on the ball.
  9. Their hitting is a huge reason they have advanced to the playoffs, but not the only reason. Look at the Card's infield, Molina and Pujols are Gold Glovers, Furcal is a vacuum at short, Freese played really well, I don't know that much about Punto but he definitely was not a liability out there. Look at the Carpenter game where Kotsay had no business being in CF which allowed them to score the only runs of the game and the Greinke game where he was pitching well but 4 errors cost us how many runs. Yes the pitching fell apart at times (Marcum) but how much was exasperated by the staff constantly having to get 4 outs per inning. You act like offensive power is the only way to win but look at last year's Giants, they were far from an offensive powerhouse but still were able to win out. I am not saying that ONLY defense wins championships, but when you have two teams who match up well against each other pitching and hitting like the Cardinals and Brewers did, our defense finally reared its ugly head and became the difference maker.
  10. Well looking at this series, the Carpenter game and the second Greinke game were winnable games that we let slip away due to poor defense. I know errors don't tell the whole story but how many errors did St. Louis have? In the regular season if your offense is that good you can hit your way past bad D. In the playoffs, you are facing the pitchers like Kennedy, Carpenter, Garcia, and deep bullpens like St. Louis has. Our D is a huge reason of not the reason we are not playing anymore.
  11. The Brewers also need to start acquiring average to above average fielding, which Fielder is not. Elite hitting gets you to the playoffs, but defense wins championships. And for those people who mentioned that Hart and Weeks were exposed in the playoffs, what about Fielder. In 14 post season games he is hitting .192.
  12. You are right. This pitching performance is indescribable today.
  13. They can set up the double play all they want, it won't matter unless the pitching stops putting the ball up in the zone.
  14. Our pitchers have been leaving pitches up to Pujols all series, and the results have been clear. Its amazing that this is still happening in game 6.
  15. Come on Narveson, shut them down and give the big boys another crack at Jackson.
  16. Well hopefully Yuni got his infield pop up out of his system today.
  17. Not ever batter, but about 7 more times would be appreciated!
  18. I wish these HR's were coming with men on base but I'll take any runs right now.
  19. Seriously, why are posters calling out other posters for their optimism on a certain, pitcher, game, hitter, etc. This happened the last game and is happening again. Do you feel better for calling someone out for being wrong about their prediction of a Brewer doing well? I just don't get it.
  20. Hopefully the batters won't press because they are down and take some pitches. Jackson is far from unbeatable.
  21. Well Marcum I'm glad you are feeling great because you are pitching like absolute garbage.
