  1. I'm randomly looking up Moises Alou's stolen base numbers from the past few years.
  2. Just looking forward to seeing the Brewers back in action tomorrow.
  3. "Better watch what you say, us fascists have very thin skins." Right. We can't talk about tonight's game on the In Game Thread board, why would we be able to vent in the Vent Thread? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  4. Board management is now forbidding us from having an In Game Thread tonight? Just because the Crew has struggled recently doesn't mean that the mods have to become fascists. Totally ridiculous.
  5. "I just think it's silly to not have an IGT. If you don't want to read it, don't." Bingo. Loath as I am to start it myself (I'm too technologically ignorant to produce any graphics, and too lazy to post stats for both teams), I'll do it if nobody else will. Those of you who need a night off, take one. The rest of us will soldier on.
  6. "Hopefully they'll come back pissed off and never look back." Amen. Let's see them show some stones tonight and gut one out.
  7. I'm gonna have to invent some new swear words to sum up how I feel about Cordero right now. Inexcusable. Inexcusable.
  8. Let's go ahead and send Cordero ahead to Milwaukee after this one's over. Yuck.
  9. I don't know what percentage of double headers result in splits, but it seems like about 2 out of 3. I'd be fine with a split today. No offense to Parra, but Capuano could sure use a win, and he deserves one the way he has pitched in his last few outings. Of course, no reason to set my sights low - so here's to winning a pair today and kicking sand in the Cubbies' faces!
  10. I agree with the general sentiment that Brewer fans are wound tighter than usual, because they haven't been part of a pennant race in what seems like forever. And I think Yost has done a nice job of keeping the team loose. My only problem with quotes like the one from Ned above is that there's some unnecessary condescension in it. No need to say, "There's a whole lot that fans don't understand about this game." That's really irrelevant. My dad has been a diehard baseball fan his entire life, and he can think along with the game as well as anyone I know - yet he's a nervous wreck when the Brewers come on. It's a combination of several things: his passionate love of the Brewers, his lifelong loathing of the Cubs, and the fact that he generally tends to place too much importance on the success or failure of his favorite teams in sports. I think Ned needs a P.R. lesson from Brian the Automator! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  11. "Seems like the Cubs never blow a game and the Brewers blow them all the time." Seems like a stretch to say the Cubs blew one last night. Although if failing to rally and win after being down three runs in the 8th is considering "blowing it", then yeah, the Brewers DO blow games all the time. Bless Ryan Freel, and his game-saving throw to the plate. Here's to hoping that Harang can be as filthy today as he was against the Brewers this week. If the Crew can split a doubleheader and extend their lead on the Cubs, that'd be fine by me.
  12. "He's a typical, "what have you done for me lately" fan. Brewerfan.net has gotten a lot of that this year." Funny that this appears right below posts from the mods discouring people from sniping at each other. Let's not have a double standard, please.
  13. Shocking to think that people would be venting in the IGT after a gut-wrenching loss. Just shocking. C'est la vie. At this point, I'd almost rather (temporarily) cede first place to the Cubs. Playing with a target on their back seems to be wearing the young Brewers down (or at least their fans). Playing the Hunter instead of the Hunted might make for a nice change of pace. Which is my long-winded way of saying, I'm not going to agonize over this. Lots of season left, and it will be very interesting to see how this team finishes out, whatever happens.
  14. I feel a big hit from Mench here. Come on gut, don't let me down.
  15. Perfect. Get Linebrink up in the pen! I mean, Turnbow.
  16. "You would have to think we have the advantage here comparing bullpens on the season but somehow I don't feel good about it. " The Reds have three more at bats and the Brewers have two. I wouldn't think we have the advantage.
  17. "no bunt...why was counsell used then?" Co-sign. Scratching my head here.
  18. or whatever. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. Put a couple of guys on here, and we can hit Fielder for Shouse.
  20. Last night's lineup made me want to kick dirt in Ned's general direction. Today looks much better, even without Prince. Assuming the game is competitive, I'd be surprised if we didn't see him come off the bench in the late innings to hit anyway. What are the Reds going to do, bring in Stanton? Muah ha ha ha!!
  21. "He leads the team in innings pitched" He also leads the league in hits and runs allowed. People who keep insisting that he's doing exactly what should be expected of him have need a serious reality check. I'm not saying he's not going to pitch better - primarily because it would be tough for a guy with a decent career track record to pitch worse. But has he disappointed thus far? Unquestionably.
  22. Lohse has been pretty good at home this year. Of course, all good things must come to an end. Ergo, let's pile on the runs and let Soup pitch with a lead tonight. Welcome back Billy Hall, btw.
  23. "If Derrick has one bad outing a month, I'll take that every year for the rest of his career." We all would, in a heartbeat. Of course, he stunk on Friday night in limited duty as well, so that's not where the bar is set these days. Here's to hoping for a string of good outings from DT over the next few weeks.
  24. "This is really the only pitching matchup that has me thinking we are doomed from the start." Baseball being baseball, it's probably the only game the Crew will win in this series. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
