  1. Super excited. Going to the game tonight. Will be my third time seeing the Cavs with LeBron. The first time he'll actually play (I think). Hopefully Kidd finds a way to play Middleton less than 40 minutes tonight.
  2. That'd be a killer jersey to have. Well played, sir. This was prior to his... ummm... legal problems. Do you actually have one? Frequent the RF Bleachers?
  3. If you didn't see it, Edwards facemask literally hit the other guys helmet. His facemask. Not any other part of his helmet. Sorry for the ESPN link, seems to be the only spot with the video. http://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=21023389
  4. Yep. Clearly what he should do is just shut up and beat women. Then he'd have a spot in the league already.
  5. I read your post. It simply isn't true. If kids had the opportunity to play for a decent price, they would. Period. For example, in Milwaukee, there are ~50 fields available for use just through Milwaukee County Parks. You bring up AAU, those kids travel just as much as any club soccer player, the difference being, if you're poor and good, you get sponsored in AAU. In soccer, you get turned away. Soccer has been the second most played sport in the US for 30 years, right alongside baseball, both of which trail basketball by a huge margin. Kids are playing, they are playing all over. The problem is, in order to get better, to reach that next level, you need to play more, have good coaches, have a good club. 95% of it is cost, and a lack of opportunity as a result.
  6. It's all about money. Money is the driver for everything. Suburban sports in this country are a for-profit industry, not a for-talent industry. We can start here: https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2016/jun/01/us-soccer-diversity-problem-world-football http://www.npr.org/2017/05/26/530162575/immigrant-families-find-soccer-shockingly-expensive-to-play-in-the-u-s
  7. Smoltz talking about productive outs talk annoys the utter crap out of me. The reason Houston is a threat to win it all isn't because they don't strike out very much, it's because their entire freaking lineup is good hitters. The team has a 127 OPS+. THE TEAM.
  8. Comparing the Brewers to the Packers is silly. The Packers have 14 World Championships and a 100 year old stadium. Other ultra successful teams hang banners for division titles. Or even dumber things: http://cache.boston.com/bonzai-fba/Globe_Photo/2008/09/07/17__1220806884_4422.jpg
  9. I mean, you may like Johnsonville, but saying Usingers and Klements are the same thing is like saying Red Dog and a really good craft beer are the same thing. Usingers has much higher quality ingredients and simply makes a much better sausage than Klements.
  10. Self documenting code. Problem is, there's so much code out there that was written before intellisense, before you had that ability, and no one ever told people what "Good code" actually was.
  11. They also blew the call on the passed ball, where Weiters got hit in the mask on the follow through. That is supposed to be a dead ball.
  12. He was hurt. Bad hamstring.
  13. Do they actually sell Usingers at Miller Park? As far as I know, all of their sausages are Klements. They put them right into the hot dog water after each race.
  14. It cannot be the correct call. He pulled the ball back. It's no different than if a guy gave up yardage trying to avoid a tackle by running backwards. He was either down before he stretched or he pulled it back and didn't get the first down. There's absolutely no way that he was whistled down at the exact moment that the ball was fully extended. about 9min mark. He's being tackled stretching out with ball is Forward progress, pulling the ball back doesn't change that. How many times have receivers been in the grasp of a tackle, stretched the ball out and were given that as forward progress? It happens every game. I do know there's that video out of the line marker being moved, but if I recall generally on measurements, the chain link that is on the like the 5yard or even yard interval before the first down marker is held when running to measure, and the extension to ball would be accurate. The refs aren't eyeballing across the field, it's where the chain ends during that measurement. Just uninformed fans. Yes, pulling the ball back does change that, the same way that running backwards changes forward progress. Receivers may stretch the ball out, but overwhelmingly they are already down or being tackled when they are doing so, OR they are doing it to cross the goal line (the play is over the instant the ball crosses the plane) http://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/2017-nfl-rulebook/ He was not being pushed or carried backward by an opponent. Also, I won't even get into the issues of using an overhead camera with a questionable angle to determine if he crossed the line to go. Parallax was definitely in play there.

  16. US has once again come out completely flat against an inferior opponent. Refusing to use ball control at all, and playing their idiotic, "Kick it far and hope" offense.
  17. "As the saying goes, it's like he had a frog with a tennis racket in there." Just heard from the color guy in NYY vs Cleveland after a passed ball. What?!?
  18. There's no sound worse in the world than Cubs fans cheering.
  19. That a baby Houston. Now, lets go Washington!
  20. This is super cool. Thanks for sharing! Agree completely, this is awesome! More kid's need homework assignments like that.
  21. Yes. I agree here. Move Brinson for prospects or possibly a pitcher and let Phillips be the main guy out in CF. Broxton can cover us as a 4th OF too. He's good enough to fill in for stretches if someone does get hurt. I doubt Perez is going anywhere so he is your defacto 4th/5th outfielder so to me, that covers us. Yep. Hernan Perez started 34 in LF and 17 in RF this season, he of the .704 OPS and .289 OBP. If Counsell had one flaw this season, it was his love of Perez over better options.
  22. Thankfully, never have to see this again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LG1WwcRlE0Q
  23. A lot of people thought he broke his foot 3 days ago. I'd imagine the bruise is pretty significant. Slamming into it over and over again the last 2 games probably hasn't helped.
  24. He plays in the exact same spot no matter the situation. Have you not seen his spot in LF at Miller Park?
