  1. Since the Astros decided to put up a fight, we should probably get Kotsay and Counsell out of the game now.
  2. I think I am actually cheering for Cincinnati to beat the Giants now. We are only 3 1/2 behind and if we pass them, we could get home field advantage in the NLDS against the Braves.
  3. Spring Training game, remember? We need to practice that play in case we need it against a real MLB team.
  4. Well that was a nice way to ruin a promising inning.
  5. 5 in a row, just like that. Thanks to the Cubs and Astros for making all of our problems go away, at least for the time being.
  6. Fukudome with a sac fly in the bottom ninth to tie the Royals. Edit: Laporta wins it with a bomb.
  7. Jimenez to the Indians? Wow. Who would have thought that the Indians would have gone from crowds of 8,500 listless fans in April to purchasing Fukudome and Jimenez at the deadline?
  8. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/db415f1d8468433964577cb2c5f207c4ac31f0a.jpeghttp://images.yuku.com/image/png/db415f1d8468433964577cb2c5f207c4ac31f0a_t.jpg Nice hit last inning by Mr. Unknown. (Not sure if the image is going to show up)
  9. Russell the Muscle keeps the record for now--unless Hit Tracker decides it is a different distance.
  10. I'm interested to find out the distance on that one. At least 470 feet I would guess.
  11. They probably think the same thing about us. They also have a pennant in the outfield showing that it can be done with 83 wins.
  12. Maybe we can look for a Kevin Mench-like entry?
  13. Although indications are that the Astros will be in the AL West by that point. So it might not matter.
  14. The +4 run differential also gets the Brewers back to even for the year.
  15. This team had some disastrous road trips, but if they keep dominating at home they are going to cruise into the playoffs. The pitching has really been excellent lately.
  16. El Caballo is a natural first baseman. They should have moved him a long time ago.
  17. It's always nice to have a $170 million payroll and a great farm system. Why waste the time/effort bringing the prospects to the majors when you can have such a large selection of available players to choose from? Who even cares if the Phillies overpaid a bit? As long as they aren't picking up Soriano-like contracts or trading away the next Ryan Braun, they are fine. I like having a few down teams willing to trade this year. In some recent years there have been too many teams in competition, with nothing good available at the deadline. Better to let the good teams pick up pieces and make a run at it, while the bad teams give themselves some hope for rebuilding.
  18. Even old Felipe is way faster than Betancourt. He might not be Beltran or Hunter Pence, but I guess he will do.
  19. Nice job Hart, now we have some breathing room for a change.
  20. Lopez fifth? Someone forgot to tell Roenicke that his .300 average was in AAA.
  21. The Astros are 1-9 in Lyles' starts this year, but he has taken a number of tough losses including three 5-4 decisions, two of which were quality starts. The most painful was Lyles' most recent loss in which he pitched 8 1/3 innings and fell apart in the top of the 9th. I guess that is what happens when you play for a team like the Astros. I can remember being at a similar game where Jamey Wright suffered that fate back in '01 or '02. Wright had at least 10 strikeouts and was up by 1 going for the complete game in the 9th.
  22. The Brewers did not play especially well this series, but the Cubs are just awful. Nice to see our starters pick up 3 wins. Keep the easy part of the schedule coming!
  23. I'm fine with acquiring players like Lopez for insurance. Sometimes bringing a guy into a new clubhouse with a pennant race going on will wake him up. There's no guarantee that Furcal is going to be able to hit either, his 2011 numbers are horrible as well.
  24. The Cubs announcers really have nothing nice to say about Milwaukee at all.
