  1. You forgot about his Cubs debut? It was the beginning of the end for Gagne.
  2. Fixed. Thanks. Yunisell would make a good SS. Let Yuni bat and Counsell play defense.
  3. McGehee has a .908 OPS in the last 7 days. Very encouraging. Really pulling for Counsell to break his long drought today. Perhaps he should try bunting?
  4. LINK Apparently it is not a done deal yet, but should be finished later today.
  5. We can step back from the ledge, this is good news. But I still find it highly unlikely that he will be back in 3 weeks, and there is certainly still a risk of surgery if it does not heal properly.
  6. Thanks for the clarification. Perhaps Green is on the PBTNL list then and Melvin does not consider him a "top" prospect.
  7. Alternate theory: Maybe they are trying to avoid starting the MLB service time clock on Green? If he is only going to be up in the majors for 2-3 days before a trade is made, why not get an extra year of arby by waiting to call him up in 2012.
  8. So Rickie is headed to the DL for sure. I am still optimistic that he can get back by September if it does not require surgery. Sadly, this is similar to the 2008 Gallardo injury. The season isn't over, especially since McGehee and Betancourt have looked better of late. But the Cardinals are now the favorites in the division if Rickie misses the rest of the year. The bottom line is: 1) Green needs to get a shot right away and we all need to hope that he comes up hot before the pitchers figure him out 1) Melvin needs to get infield help, preferably at 2B now 3) We're going to have to deal with McGehee and Betancourt starting the majority of the time
  9. Obviously a bittersweet win tonight. Hopefully there will be good news tomorrow.
  10. While I admit that the odds are less than I thought, the Braves could still pass the Phillies and win the NL East, which would also send the Brewers to Atlanta. With the Giants acquiring Beltran today, that reduces the odds of the Brewers making up the 5 games needed to catch SF. But it doesn't matter anyway since a pitching duel against the Phillies will likely come down to 1-2 big hits, which could easily be provided by Braun and Prince, regardless of who is hitting 6-8.
  11. I still can't get over the fact that we actually are cheering for the Pirates to lose and not for them to steal a few wins against an actual contender.
  12. Greinke is painting the corners and throwing "chase" pitches as opposed to previous starts.
  13. Last I checked, the Phillies were in the NL East. There's no guarantee that the Brewers see the Phillies in the playoffs, if that's what you are referring to. Not to mention that there are 4 days left to make a move.
  14. I would be shocked if there is no damage based on that last angle. But now is not the time to give up on the season. I still like the Brewers over the Cardinals/Pirates, even without Weeks.
  15. Nice win! Can we please win something other than nail biting, one-run games at home?
  16. I think it goes both ways--you could certainly argue that online posters are too hard on McGehee and go out of their way to point out every little thing he does wrong. The spotlight is on him, that's for sure.
  17. Interesting play, McGehee should have stepped on the bag but it was close.
  18. This is a good Loe situation with righties coming up hopefully he can get a ground ball.
  19. I do not like Dempster but I did not want to see Braun bust up his face. That was dangerously close to a nasty incident.
  20. The only question remaining is whether he can send the Mariners to their 17th straight loss.
