I like the idea of the Brewers having a sponsorship agreement with a major company. But I do not want to see motorcycles displayed the way they are shown in that drawing. I think it ruins the ambience of a baseball field. How about expanding the sponsorship with Miller-Coors and bringing back the beer mug.
They should also send in the audio from the Brewers and Pirates radio and television broadcasters. Every broadcaster made it sound like the play was an error.
From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette . . . LaRoche, who saw a replay, said, "I'm sure they'll change it to an error. I mean, I obviously didn't hit it very hard, so it really doesn't deserve a hit."
It always seems like whenever there is a beanball war or some kind of stupid controversy, it always involves a team managed by Tony LaRussa. It's no wonder the guy is hated so much around the league. Other managers around the league don't seem to have issues the way LaRussa and his players do. It's getting old.
Just want to congratulate the fans of Wisconsin for supporting the Brewers in record numbers, especially for a market of our size. I am proud of our franchise and our fan base. Hopefully things will only get bigger.
I can't tell you how pleased I am by what I saw tonight. I really wanted to win the first game just to set the tone and dent the Cardinals hopes. This was just outstanding. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b273/AJAY_02/BrewersFlag3.gif
I was at the game, and I was more angry about the pitch count than I was excited about the victory. I am extremely concerned about Ned Yost's abuse of Sabathia. I know some people think that it doesn't matter because Sabathia will be gone as a free agent anyway. I personally would hate to see him become ineffective later this season because of overwork in meaningless innings in blowout wins. I also don't want the Brewers organization getting a bad reputation for abusing starters. No free agent would want to come here if Ned had the reputation of being someone like Dusty Baker. What happened tonight was disturbing and appalling. Completely unacceptable.
Ned makes me sick. I was at the game and I was begging for Sabathia to come out after the 7th inning. I was appalled that he not only pitched the 8th inning but also then came out for the 9th. Most of the fans around me were concerned too. I was upset last week when Sabathia pitched the 8th inning in San Diego. You hate to see Ned abuse Sabathia's arm with absolutely no regard for the longer picture.
Rosenthal is correct. We are beating up on weak competition and our winning streak had nothing to do with the fight. He was not taking a jab or being insulting towards the Brewers. It's no different than when the Cubs got off to a hot start because they beat up on Pittsburgh, San Diego, etc. early in the season. Now it's our turn.
Sabathia seems to be laboring tonight. I think it would be a good night to pull him early and let the bullpen take over. Sabathia could definintely use some rest. Let him go five or six innings at the most.
