  1. You know, if the manager and the trainer visit the mound and the guy has blood on his pants and is bleeding from a finger on his pitching hand, why in the world do you keep him in for another hitter? Good point. Bloody pitching hands are usually a good time to find a new pitcher.
  2. Since that was my 666th post, I'm not feeling lucky....and I wrote that post w/o reading the previous 2 that referenced the Grand Salami. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  3. Now if Winklesas gives up a HR are we going to slam him even though the 3 guys on base have nothing to do with him. I think it's looking bad for this inning and predict a fire Winky thread in a matter of minutes.
  4. The only way the Twins ought to even be able to start discussing the acquisition of Bill Hall is to begin with an offer of Santana and Joe Mauer in exchange. I would trade about half our team for those 2 guys.
  5. Thanks ...just wondering. No he's not on my fantasy team.
  6. Why was Johan Santana taken out after 5 good innings? Hurt? I can't find anything, but I'm guessing he had something bad happen. With a 7-1 lead, there's no way he should be out of there. Is there?
  7. With all the guys we've trotted out of the pen I'd get a kick out of having Jeffress pitch an inning of flamethrowing. Just for a day or two between when they give up on the next guy and the time it takes to find a replacement. Maybe between the time when Jackson gets his last start and whoever comes off the DL to take his spot 5 days later. Then send him down to Arizona/Helena. I know. Not gonna happen, but it would be fun to see the guy throw a single inning in mop up work or something.
  8. That guy came to town this season and just got crushed. He better not go anywhere with elevation or dry climate or he'll continue to be Papelbon's brother and nothing else.
  9. With 50 new picks I'm guessing a handful will be signed immediately. Will there likely be a bunch of guys already in the system that will be released? Or is there a Rookie league that starts after the draft?
  10. D - I would have a similar report (only much much worse) on some of the NMSU players that were drafted. The one guy isn't even good enough to start on his college team and makes the worst decisions an outfielder can make. Did I mention he's not a very good hitter either? I wonder what some of these clubs are seeing? Must have seen one of his good games; there were only a couple. After round 20 do they just look for athletes and hope they can turn them into players?
  11. The 3 Hendrickson starts went from pretty decent to absolutely terrible. I might even be able to give up 6 runs in 0 IP. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Considering the guy gets people out in AAA....You have to at least consider that he was thinking too much on the mound. Start thinking too much and nothing good happens IMO. Off the top of your head....I don't expect anyone to go check, how many of those games did Miller catch?
  12. Where did it say the 18th rounder won't sign and the other wants DFE?
  13. C'mon Greg, don't let a guy who thinks our GM is Bob Melvin get under your skin. Next he is going to start insulting the decisions made by Edd Yost, the Manager Thank God. I kept thinking, did Doug hire his brother Bob to do something for the Brewers? Quick question on last year's 10th rounder Lennerton the 1B from Canada & El Paso Comm. College. Did we decide we didn't want him of was he just not interested in begin a Brewer? Any info on that guy?
  14. For Statistical Purposes.....6/6/06 No Variance. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  15. 666- there's no need to go to the islands. you can buy a M.D. online for $500 and a quick "test" w/o much waiting.
  16. D'Amico is the only high school pitcher ever drafted by the Brewers in the first round to make it to the Majors I think gregmag has good reason for his questioning of the HS Pitchers we draft, unless D'Amico is the only other one drafted.
  17. I don't read all the posts in here....but if it hasn't been mentioned - XM Radio just announced they will have the draft on IIRC XM Channel 189 on June 6th.
  18. How does Ricky react when he makes errors? I only have the radio. Does he look pissed, laugh it off, or other? Please tell me....it happens so often that I could use a little better visualization of how the E-4 looks after the fact. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  19. Pirates have the WORLD"S WORST announcers for their radio broadcast. They need to be checked for a pulse.
  20. Found this and thought it might make for an interesting addition to this thread. It's from Hard Ball Times LINK . I only put a little chunk of the article in here that has the similar chart. There's much more at the link. However, we need to look deeper. If Felix is throwing his fastball on 3-0 counts, and his breaking stuff on 0-2 counts, it?s only natural that hitters will be teeing off on the fastball. So let?s take a look at the data by ball/strike count: Pitches FB CB CH FB% CB% CH% Opp. OPS 0-0 60 24 17 59.41% 23.76% 16.83% 1.063 0-1 21 21 6 43.75% 43.75% 12.50% 0.889 0-2 17 13 3 51.52% 39.39% 9.09% 0.200 1-0 28 6 9 65.12% 13.95% 20.93% 0.880 1-1 10 9 6 40.00% 36.00% 24.00% 1.080 1-2 29 16 3 60.42% 33.33% 6.25% 0.353 2-0 13 0 3 81.25% 0.00% 18.75% 1.222 2-1 11 0 3 78.57% 0.00% 21.43% 1.000 2-2 10 17 3 33.33% 56.67% 10.00% 0.645 3-0 3 0 0 100.00% 0.00% 0.00% 2.000 3-1 7 0 0 100.00% 0.00% 0.00% 1.758 3-2 9 2 2 69.23% 15.38% 15.38% 1.155 Lots of information there?and yes, small sample size caveats heavily apply?but it all has the same general theme. On counts where you?d expect a hitter to be sitting fastball (1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 3-0, 3-1), Felix is complying, throwing significantly more fastballs when behind in the count than when he is ahead in the count. When he gets two strikes, you see an awful lot of curveballs as he goes for the punchout. However, if the hitter is able to work it into a fastball count, they almost always get one, and they?ve been punishing him for it. (cleaned it up a little -TC)
  21. Astros and Pirates back in extra innings. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Go anohter 18 boys
  22. Well... there are 8 teams so far today whose starting pitcher has given up more than 4 runs in the first 5 innings: Ryu for the Cubs gave up 6 in 1.1 innings. Smoltz gave up 4 in 5. Nolasco for the Marlins gave up 5 in 4 innings. Seo for the Dodgers gave up 6 in 2.2 innings. Rodgers for Detroit gave up 5 in 4.1 innings. Hernandez for KC gave up 5 in .2 innings. Taubenheim for Toronto gave up 4 in 2.1 innings. Do you think any of those 8 teams are happy? Just b/c things happen on other teams doesn't mean we should be happy. Eveland loaded the bases w/o a single hit one inning. That is enough to make it disappointing.
  23. Will Winklesas get another shot after the infield has done their best to again take this guy out of baseball for another 5 years with a single inning of work.
