  1. I'd like to leave Rickie and his glove on the bench for this game.
  2. We need to stitch a stop sign into his batting glove.
  3. I was listening to Candiotti during the D-Backs game tonight and the game was close, man on first, 3-0 3-1 count.... He was describing the situations as a spot where you might want to send the runner try and get into scoring position, however you have to count on the batter to protect the runner if the pitch is a strike (easier to throw out the runner stealing)...the batter wasn't the best contact hitter so he was guessing they wouldn't do it.....turned out he was right. But it does bring a little thought to the 3-0 count and why the average is so low...the AB ending on a 3-0 is probably not an aggressive swing, it's to protect the runner from getting thrown out and probably a lot of the time the batter is out if the ball lands in play.....resulting in the extra-low BA from that count. I don't know, just a thought .... maybe part of the answer. EDIT: this happened in the last couple innings when they were just trying to get a run any way possible.
  4. game strategy forum would be nice....or just let me know where the game strategy type questions/posts belong. I don't want to post them in the stats forum b/c not everything in strategy is about calculators and more interesting/fun discussion could be sparked if it was a even (or even lesser) mix of stats. For instance, the The Importance of Getting Ahead In The Count thread is kind of a strategy/management type that many anti-stats people won't read.
  5. If you want to start a thread, I suggest you just talk about a situation and leave the words "today's game" out of it. If you want to talk about the decision making/ defense/pitching, talk about what you want to talk about.....and finish it with a "for instance in today's game Ned let the pitch count go to 145 before pulling Davis"....instead of starting the thread like that. Make it applicable to more than 1 single game and I doubt you get shutdown. I read this forum before I started posting and that's how it works. Maybe frustrating at times, but this is the BEST fan site I've found for any team of any sport. That's what I've learned....but you've probably been here longer than me.
  6. Regarding Kolb going FA: If he wants to leave again, let him. Working with Maddox seems to help him a lot and we've seen what he did when he left and had a high pressure position. I think he settles in and gets comfortable in Milwaukee for a reasonable contract or leaves and flounders again. If we get extra picks for him leaving, gobble up'dem extra picks. Having Kolb and Wise before Turnbow on top of our 5 starters and the other pen guys is the best situation I can remember us being for pitching in my days as a brewer fan. Ohka: I think he's solid, but replacable and possibly tradable if we have a replacement that we have a lot of confidence in. Though if we're smoking hot going into the deadline, I don't want to trade him....unless of course Roger Clemens is coming to town (or according to ESPNews, Johan Santana http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ) Lee: I'll trust whatever Melvin does. Too early to say with such a great player. It's a bad thing to get to attached to wanting a player...he has a high value, but Melvin won't give more than he's worth. IN DOUG WE TRUST
  7. I was just reading that thread last night and thought about posting a response. Wish I had, could've made ESPNnews. Dang it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  8. good stuff...........hope you're getting some advertising dollars Brian. this place is definitely seen by many people.
  9. I don't have cable so it would be great if someone could get it on the net. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. I looked for the answer and I can't find it. How about a different question?
  11. JDLR - kept us in it when the game was still wide open.
  12. I have to get on here at least every 3 minutes starting today
  13. Cards are sucking. 4-0 Cubs
  14. Turnbow is just trying to keep that high LOB% http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. I account for probably half of those views on days when my writing is not coming along. I bought the ez supporter so you can expect at least 6,000 less views per day starting now. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif BTW.....the benefits of being an ez supporter are incredible. You can come onto bf.net w/o your name being on the "online" list so your boss/wife, doesn't know what you're doing. Plus you have the benefit of using many usernames and collecting all of your messages in 1 box. I don't know what the point of that is, but I'm going to make at least 10 new usernames and collect all 5 of my yearly messages in 1 inbox. Life just got easier. How many views do you need to make for the ez supporter to be worth it? Would I have been better off sending $12 to one of the mods to pay for page views? Too late this year, but good info for next year.
  16. In game threads are in game threads......how deep of a conversation could you expect during the game other than internet cheering and a little bit of discussion on decision making. I would hate to have to sift through the IGT for Prince's hole-in-the-bat discussion. Also, I like reading the tidbits.....i.e. a post that says only "98mph" because I don't have the video and haven't been smart enough to find that info on the internet yet. If you want to discuss something you saw at the game, just word it a little more "grand scheme of things" and start a thread. Woooooooooooooohooooooooooooooo YES! Gabe Gross is my hero. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. I will promise right now that Prince hits aa grand slam next inning.
  18. Brady thrown out.....where have I heard that?
  19. Be great if they gave him a nice welcome back by showing some video of long balls he served up. :P
  20. 1 AB and I'm already happy with that new contract. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. Turnbow time......let's see if he picks up where he left off..... everyone say a little prayer.
  22. I was thinking it would be more on pace for 486 HRs since this was only his first at bat....just a conservative estimate of 3 ABs per game....probably should be higher. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
