  1. Be really nice if they could tear it up in the last 3 innings and have a good feeling about the bats coming into tomorrow. Even just an extra base hit by Clark, Weeks, or Fielder would make me a lot happier.
  2. Not me. 2 hits against this guy is still fairly unacceptable.
  3. Win or Lose, I'm not happy with those bats. Giving up 2 runs is great.....having 1 hit is pitiful.
  4. Not sure what it counts as or why it was brought up as a run producer, but it is pretty way off from what I was getting at anyway. We need to look at the potential success of making contact rather than the avoidance of DPs. I hate hitting into DP's as much as anyone else and I don't mind seeing a Sheets/Ohka strikeout in a 1 out bases loaded situation.....but for an average hitter, I want to see them make some contact and hit a sac fly, single, or just about anything (as I'm sure everyone is).....K's are better than DPs, but nothing to be happy about. So my point was that potential success and runs produced are way WAY WAY lower for a K. Contact has the potential to produce many more runs and I want to do whatever gives us more potential runs. Of course I did forget the dropped 3rd strike, but that's only when 1st base is open so that's really not a DP type of situation anyway.
  5. Are you serious? You want to disagree with me by hoping for those dropped 3rd strike RBIs? I'm not gonna hold my breath waiting for those RBI's to accumulate. And I'm not patting anyone's back who gets lucky b/c the opposing battery made a mistake.
  6. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION: It seems we have a bit of a disconnect between two sides on what is important and how to measure it (duh, huh?). I can see the point of what is measured with the statistics and the outcomes of outs....a strikeout can cause less damage in some situations. However rooting for less damage is not what I'd like to do....I'd rather root for what gives us more potential to score a run and hitting the ball gives us a chance to score. W/ less than 2 outs, I don't see a strikeout as good....in fact I never see a strikeout as good. The reason being, the stats show the damage or outcomes or however they are described so that a K is sometimes OK. The problem is "potential outcome"....a K has no potential to result in an RBI. Yes, hit ball may result in a DP, but it has so much more potential than a K to result in a runscored. How many RBI's have resulted from a K? What percent of RBI's result from a ball put in play? I see it as more of the potential rather than the outcome. K's give zero potential to push a runner across the plate.
  7. I sure hope we don't need a large sample to stop this experience.
  8. I predict a Grand Slam http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. Only good thing is Bannister at 52 pitches through 2 innings
  10. is wise still pitching? if so why? seems like a 6 run lead is safe and we might want him tomorrow
  11. 55,800 in attendance at Shea.... that would be nice at Miller
  12. When are we gonna trade that Jenkins bum? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. If Benny brings his gun, we win this series with "the hottest team in baseball"
  14. The bats weren't there, but 4-3 happens. Look forward to Sheets on Sunday. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Looks like ESPN was reading brewerfan again and changed the box for us http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. No need to get ticked...I only root for the brewers. I do have him in at least 1 league, but I also have Cap in the same league so I was rooting for Cap.....I'd never root against the brewers for a fantasy league.....but, since the brewers already lost...I checked the box to see what stats I picked up....Jenkins let me down again....and Glavine w/o the W was strange. Anyway, I am interested why Glavine didn't get the W (I have plenty of Brewers between the leagues so if the Brewers do well I do well).
  17. Yeah, I just checked out the play-by-play and it doesn't make sense to me. If Glavine isn't the winner I need an explaination. Anybody have a guess? Or was it a mistake?
  18. I looked at the Yahoo Boxscore and they didn't have Glavine as the winning pitcher. How is that? Didn't he leave after 6 innings with a 4-1 lead and the crew never tied it back up.
  19. Is there a stat that keeps track of if the team wins/loses for each starting pitcher, regardless of if they get the decision? For example, today Davis started and didn't get the win...but the Brewers did win. Just curious. Seems like there's a million baseball stats that exist.
  20. Did it seem like the Giants decided 1 win was enough for today? What's with the game 2 lineup? I know Alou, Bonds, and Vizquil are not spring chickens, but all 3 out of the lineup didn't like they were going to win....at least the way i see it, from the very first pitch.
  21. I have the same problem....for some reason I decided it depended on if the link was renamed or if it was just given as a URL... Guess I could test that right here. www.baseballmusings.com/archives/014062.php same random link EDIT: well that doesn't seem to be the answer...but I know what you're talking about.
