  1. Overreact much? They don't deserve to make the playoffs because they are going to be swept at home by a team with arguably the best 3-4-5 in the order in the NL? Get real dude.
  2. Anyone else having problems with the free mlb.tv feed?
  3. Wont this still be premature? The Cardinals will have to double sweep us to have a chance at the division..we still have a 8.5 game lead (still biggest divisional lead in MLB) with 25 games left. If the Cardinals don't double sweep us, their only chance to come back is if Grienke, Gallardo, and Marcum all completely fall apart or get injured. Meanwhile, the Cardinals starting rotation is not good. With that in mind, it seems extremely unlikely that they can string together enough wins, along with us going on a long skid, to win the division. I think we should be more worried about how soon Rickie will be back for two reasons; 1) so he has enough time to get back to 'normal' before the playoffs start, and 2) so RR can start giving Hairston starts at SS (wishful thinking).
  4. I'm not angry, but if we end up only scoring 3 runs tonight I would of rather had that not happen. As I've said before, I can't imagine a team with Betancourt starting at SS can win a World Series. And the only way I see RR actually giving Hairston a shot at the SS job is if Yuni goes 0-50.
  5. Just to add to this fun, I would have no problem with a Betancourt injury. Do I wish for him to break his leg in 5 places? No, but would I be upset if he strained a hamstring or broke a bone in his hand? No. In fact, I would be thrilled. Because I, and many of you, think his terrible play is going to limit how successful the Brewers are in the postseason. He is a terrible player on a really good team. It's really frustrating to think that Melvin knew how bad he was coming in, and had a pretty good idea how good the Brewers could be this year, and he has done nothing about it.
  6. Maybe Prince and Braun placed a healthy bet on who would reach 100 RBI first? And this was Prince having some fun with Braun....
  7. I still can't see a team as bad as we are on the left side of the infield making a deep postseason run, but hopefully they prove me wrong. A plus defensive SS would of been extremely beneficial to this team.
  8. Worst case scenario: we lose both and STL wins and we'll STILL have a 7 game lead.
  9. Betancourt is now 1 for his last 27 and 5 for his last 39. As a few of us mentioned during his hitting surge...it was only a matter of time before he reverted to his crappy offensive norms. But, I think it might be a good thing for the long term success of this team because if Yuni struggles after Rickie comes back then there's a really good chance Hairston will begin to get starts at SS. IMO replacing Betancourt's name at SS with Hairston's will go a long way towards a deep run in October.
  10. My brother (born in the summer of '82 and a diehard Brewers fan basically since he could think) said back in June to me "We are better than the Cardinals", and I said "What about Pujols, Holliday, Berkman all in a row, and his response: "We are better than the Cardinals". I finally get it, we are a better team than the St. Louis Cardinals. Our pitching staffs really aren't in the same league at this point. A W tomorrow would be extremely disheartening for STL. Let's get it. AHHHHHH.
  11. According to mlb.com gamecast, Prince had a bad AB swinging at balls when Westbrook was struggling to throw strikes. So of course, Betancourt does the same. Sure is nice that he is actually hitting but it still is super frustrating that he doesn't really understand the value of a walk.
  12. I wish we didn't have 3 lefties in the lineup today, RHB are killing Westbrook this season (.326/.373/.491). That being said, the only lefty I would replace is Kottaras....too bad Wolf hates Lucroy.
  13. Based on an update a few minutes ago from the Milwaukee Brewers facebook page Hart is indeed in the lineup: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150273021800003&set=a.323487350002.152259.45083850002&type=1&theater
  14. He certainly is hot but there's about a zero percent change he keeps up this pace. Based on the 6+ year sample size we have to look at, he will most likely revert to being a poor offensive player...and...he is still a terrible defender no matter how well he is swinging the bat.
  15. In the 3rd inning and up by 5 runs, 1 out, and guys on 1st and 2nd, why would you have your best hitting pitcher bunt? He's hitting .250 over the past 2 years with 5 bombs. Really don't understand that.
  16. For those of us following game online or listening to Ueck, can someone fill us in on why La Russa had a problem in the top of the 8th?
  17. That was a pretty random pitch-out with a non-base stealer at first. OH NO..ARE THE CARDINALS STEALING SIGNS?1?!??!
  18. Dude that started this rumor is going at it again......http://twitter.com/#!/mrfantasyexpert
  19. They might as well get Furcal, Carroll, and Barmes, then add Ryan just for additional depth.
  20. From personal experience: Grade 1 sprain recovery can be pretty quick...certainly within a week. Grade 2 & 3 sprains can take several weeks to heal, and typically never feel the same after (I experienced a grade 2-3 five years ago, couldn't put any weight on that foot for 2 full weeks and still haven't regained pre-injury explosiveness). Often times a clean break is better off than a grade 3 sprain because the break heals faster.
  21. he rolled onto the outside of his ankle really really hard as well. it could really be anything, most of which are not very good. Well then it sounds much more like a severe ankle sprain. Hopefully it isn't worse, he'll at least be back sometime this year if that's it.
  22. Based on the description by Uecker and contributors here it sure sounds like an Achilles injury. With his heal on the ground and foot reaching for the bag, I can't imagine that being a sprain. Ankle sprains are almost always the result of rolling to the inside or outside of the foot and it doesn't sound like that's what happened. Uh oh..
  23. Apparently Casey is trying to answer my previous question. This team is extraordinarily difficult to watch right now.
  24. Do the 2011 Brewers have the worst defensive left side of the infield ever? At least the worst range ever? Mcgehee: first can't cut off the infield single that Betancourt kept in the infield (but Betancourt's terrible range didn't allow him to actually make a play....Theriot made the exact same play in the top half to throw out Braun), then Mcgehee makes a terrible play not covering 3rd for the potential force. It sure must suck to be a Brewers pitcher...
  25. Buster Olney is speculating that the Brewers are on top of the Lackey sweepstakes. I think anything over a 4 year deal could be disastrous for the future of the Brewers. I do not relish Doug Melvin's job....the way baseball is structured makes it so incredibly difficult for a small market team to sustain success. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/69591242.html
