  1. In other news, catcher Jose Molina just stole his first base of the year. He stole home as part of a double steal! Also, Jeter was caught stealing for the 4th time this year. The Yankees and Angels must have two horrible managers, with all that aggressive baserunning!
  2. According to Gameday, it looks like Bay's homer landed somewhere around Great America.
  3. Is it right that the Brewers haven't lost all year in games that Cappy or Vargas have started?
  4. Brewers can take a 7 game lead in the division heading into the night games!!!!!
  5. The team is still young They will make some mistakes, yes But some will blame Yost
  6. I am quite surprised by a lot of the posts in this thread. The knee-jerk reactions when things don't go well is kind of annoying. I would expect that from Cubs fans. Here are some of the complaints that I've seen: 1. Why did they do the double steal? - As mentioned earlier, Yost didn't call for it. Fielder went on his own. Blame Fielder, not Yost. Don't assume all calls come from the dugout. There are young players on the team that will make mistakes. 2. Why hit and run with Bush up? - He is a good hitting pitcher, that only needs to make contact. Last time I remember them running that with Bush up, he lined a double in the gap that scored a run. Sometimes it work, sometimes it doesn't. 3. Why did Yost keep Bush in, in the 7th? - He had given up a total of 2 hits before that inning. The 2nd double was a flare that just happened to find grass. If Bush had so obviously lost it, then how come he struck out the last batter of the inning so easily? He made 2 bad pitches. Nobody was calling for a pitching change Wednesday when Villanueva walked a guy, and hit a guy to load the bases. That's more of a sign of losing it, than what Bush was showing yesterday. But, since he got out of it, that was a good move, and since Bush hung a pitch, that was a bad move. I realize it can be frustrating when the Brewers lose, but please keep everything in perspective. The Brewers will lose games, the young guys will make mistakes, and sometimes pitchers don't get outs when they're supposed to.
  7. It looks like last year, the Pirates would have won the game, based on being ahead at the end of the last complete inning. However, the rules were changed (same as Brewers/Marlins game) in the offseason. Play will resume today at the point they left off last night. If the 7th inning had just ended, the game would be over, as long as the game wasn't tied.
  8. 5 IP, 0 ER, 0 R, Win is the definition of a good start. Stats can be played both ways. He made the pitches he needed to at the right times, and that is what counts.
  9. His ERA won't balloon for that inning since all 5 runs were unearned.
  10. Traffic report for those going to the game: This morning's traffic has been rather extraordinary here in Chicago. There aren't as many cars as usual, but there are huge backups. It appears that Cubs fans are jumping off of overpasses by the thousands. The bodies are piling so high, that cars can't drive over them anymore. When asked about today's onrush of jumpings, traffic corresponant Wheels McGee had this to say, "Usually, during baseball season, we see about 50 Cubs fans jump per day. However, starting at about 11:00 PM last night they started, and haven't stopped since. We can't keep up." Traffic authorities are hoping to have all roads cleared up by game time tonight.
  11. Let's score in the 10th, and have T-Bow close it out against the heart of their order.
  12. If Yost had pinch hit for Gross and Counsell in the 6th, the Brewers would have nobody left on the bench, and would probably still be losing. Also, the pitcher may have had to hit last inning.
  13. I think Yost would have hit for Gross, if Estrada had not gotten hurt. With Mench hitting now, they are down to one position player on the bench.
  14. Geez....Eyre only has a 15.19 ERA after that homer. Here's to making it go even higher.
  15. Just because he is usually the first one used, does not mean he is the best, or they think he is the best. The best is usually saved for the 9th inning, or late in the game in a very key spot.
  16. I have a bad feeling about tonight also. Vargas won't be getting the same huge strikezone that he's had in his 2 starts. If he does have the huge zone, I believe Zambrano can take more advantage of it than Vargas's previous opposing pitchers. If I were a betting man, I'd be taking the over in this game.
  17. The players fail, but the managers can set them up to fail sometimes, like Ned has done a couple of times this series. Yeah, like bringing Cordero in in the 9th inning when it became a save situation. How dare Yost put Cordero in such a situation. He should only bring him in when they're up by 3 and there's nobody on base. That would make it easier. So Yost let Bush pitch to 3 batter instead of 2. Guess we are setting our closer up to fail when he comes in with the tieing run at the plate. THAT'S WHAT CLOSERS ARE FOR!!!!!!!!!! Yost was trying to give his overworked relievers a bit a of a break. It didn't work out, and they still won the game. It's not like he left Bush out to dry.
  18. Good job T-bow. Way to bounce back!!!
  19. Mench eats lefties for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  20. Hopefully, the Reds and Astros play about 15 innings today. More would be even better.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  21. Good to see us sweep our "Pesky" Pirates! I am always a little worried to play them as they always seem to have our number. Now if we could just sweep a struggling Astros team i will be happy. Struggling??? Haven't they won 3 straight, and are currently right behind the Brewers?
  22. There has been a lot said about Yost not sticking with a lineup, but he should be getting credit for putting guys in position to succeed. With regular playing time for everyone, and using the best matchup's each game, he is doing a great job.
  23. I think I'm in the wrong place. This looks like the Cubs message board. I was looking for the Brewers board. Was it moved?
  24. Gotta give Yost some props for having Hall and Counsell in motion so that they could score on the 2 doubles. If they weren't going on the pitch, they would not have scored.
  25. Anyone else worried about Turnbow facing Pujols, Rolen and Edmunds??
