  1. Was Braun's homer an inside-the-park shot? Gameday shows the hit landing way in front of the warning track? Edit: Nevermind, I can see that all the Gameday graphics are screwed up.
  2. Braun going for the repeat line from last night's game. Already 2-3 with a 2B and HR. I think his wrist is ready for the big leagues.
  3. This may need it's own thread, but there are some classic Noah pics in this link. mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?S=12#S=12&F=1737&T=315176&P=1&STM=0
  4. I'm expecting to see both Gwynn and Gross in the lineup tonight. Give Hall the night off.
  5. Kind of like a lot of Bonds' supporters who say that steroids weren't illegal in baseball, even though they were a felony under federal law.
  6. Cubs use Henry Blanco as a pinch hitter in the 7th inning. Sorry, but I wouldn't use him as PH before the 20th inning. And as I type this he walks to spark at least a 2 run rally.
  7. LOL, high BA in White Sox lineup today is .259. They have some hitters struggling to start out the year. Wrigley Field should get them going.
  8. What is going on? Neither Hardy nor Fielder have a homer yet today?
  9. I think if this were a week ago, there would be a pinch hitter in there right now.
  10. I'd keep Sheets in for one more inning, unless his spot comes up in the order this inning with men on base.
  11. I actually agree with you too BCin04. I would rather see Gwynn at leadoff for now, while he is playing well. If he keeps it up, you keep him there. If he falls off, put Weeks back there.
  12. From that point of view, Granderson worked as a lead-off hitter for the Tigers last year, and Weeks is similar to him. And the Tigers went further than the Red Sox, so that must be better.
  13. That was Estrada's 4th. There are 7 players with 8 or more. You can go to mlb.com and they have sortable stats.
  14. 5-4 bottom of 9th, bases loaded one out. Of course the human double-play is up, Carlos Delgado.
  15. You want weak lineups, check out the Mets lineup against the Cubs today. 5 guys batting .217 or less in the starting lineup. That's what happens when they sit Reyes, Beltran, and Wright in the same game.
  16. Anyone notice the Mets lineup against the Cubs today? No Reyes, Wright, or Beltran. Must mean the Mets will put up about 10 runs today.
  17. Actually, it was the unstoppable 1-2 punch of Counsell and Vargas.
  18. Yep, and it was Shouse who performed well below his career norms, even against righties. Shouse didn't get the job done. Turnbow didn't get the job done. If either of them pitch even half-way decent, they would have gotten to the 9th with the lead. Who else could have pitched? Don't even tell me Spurling. The guy is worse than Aquino, and we all know how that turned out.
  19. Exactly, so even if he got one out, he would have performed more than 3 times worse than his normal outing vs. right handed hitters. How is this Yost's fault again?
  20. Was it a bad move? Yes. Does that mean they'd automatically have one more run, or more, had he not gotten thrown out? Absolutely not. It is kind of ignorant to believe that everything would have happened the same way, had Counsell not been thrown out stealing. Pitch selection, and batter's approach at the plate would have been different.
  21. So even if Shouse pitches worse than his career average, and gives up 2 runners in the 8th, the Brewers are still up by 2 runs at worst. A WHIP of 1.9 is almost 2 runners per inning. So, in order to blow a 4 run lead, he'd have to be more than twice as bad as his career average. Then, Turnbow comes in. He needs to keep his ERA under 18.00 for the inning. Some are saying that the runners on base had him rattled. What, he had to pitch out of the stretch? Oh, that's right, he already does that all the time anyway. S
  22. Here's the reason Shouse was brought in to start the 8th. It didn't work this time, but there was a valid reason for it. He still brought Turnbow in with plenty of room for error. Shouse and T-Bow did not get the job done tonight. It's rather comical to see all the knee-jerk reactions to a loss. When 2 relievers don't do their jobs, it's Yost's fault.
  23. I don't think anyone wants to see them both starting full-time. However, we shouldn't complain if they are in there together once in a while. Hardy and Weeks need rest too. They have started in the lineup together 4 times. The 3 times Weeks got the day off, they won 3-1, 7-1, and 12-3. The time Hardy got a rest, they lost 5-3 to the Marlins. While nobody wants them in together very often, once every other week won't kill us.
  24. All we need is people to complain about the lineup when it comes out. A few people hated the lineup on Saturday, and they scored 12 runs. Yesterday, everyone started that the same few wanted (except Braunhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ), and they only had 1 hit in the first 8 innings.
  25. . That's it. Ignore the fact that Prince took strike 3 right down the middle, and blame Yost for the caught stealing.
