  1. The only hangups in the Giants' deal must be either $/year or #/years, which means the Brew Crew couldn't afford or wouldn't desire either one. The problem is that we know we offered Roberts more money that the Giants have. If the Giants don't meet Roberts terms, he could turn around and take our deal.

  3. That would really suck if we did end up signing him. I didn't like trying for him, then I was very relieved he picked the Giants. To blindside us with Roberts would suck.
  4. Can you take out the word "rumor" in the thread title? The whole thing is a little misleading...
  5. Aren't ZiPS projections usually pretty inaccurate anyway?
  6. Good work on the accents, but not one use of: eh?
  7. I would rather have him tha Lofton. Why?
  8. Holliday is untouchable, I would imagine. The Rockies are going to have one heck of an offense in a few years, more is coming.
  9. Hall, Jenkins, Mench, Miller, Turnbow, Jackson out. solid CF bat, BIG LF bat, and youngish but already good SP (ie. E.Santana) That's just rambling, but look at our stockpiling: C: Had Miller and Rivera. Added Estrada and Closser. SS: Had Hall and Hardy. Added Counsell and Perez. OF: Had Jenkins, Mench, Hart, Gross, Clark, Gwynn, Nix, Hall. Haven't added anyone yet but have been pursuing multiple options. RP: Added Balfour and Alquino (but this is typical Melvin)
  10. Haven't read the post yet, but first comment: Paragraphs!
  11. I wouldn't cry if we shifted Jenkins back to left, Hall in CF, and Hart in RF. I think that would be a pretty good defensive OF. Many here, including myself, want to see it anyway.
  12. So you wouldn't like that deal, End? vRHP vLHP 2004 .858 .785 2005 .824 .688 2006 .852 .970 He's been pretty consistent against RHP, but suddenly he found out how to mash LHP, like he's supposed to. (Not unlike one Billy Hall.) Can he keep that up? Maybe not, but even if he does regress back down to a .840 OPS its still a good deal, IMO.
  13. Yes, I would love to see a Hall for Santana + Rivera, even if we had to add another role player.
  14. As long as its a one year deal, I won't complain.
  15. Why not just trade Hardy? Because we'd be selling low. With Hall we'd be selling high. Personally, I don't see Hall quite repeating what he did last year and I don't see him resigning with Milwaukee down the road if he does continue to slug .550. I wouldn't cry if he was traded, but I'd hope we get something to show off in return.
  16. Either way, one of us is getting Counsell and the other is getting Graffy. EDIT: Rosenthal's "Counsell to Brewers" story was posted an hour ago.
  17. Its the years. Getting Schmidt to a 3 year contract would be an excellent signing. I can't imagine he would settle for less than 4 though, and wouldn't be suprised to see someone push it to 5 to take their offer over the top.
  18. Like I have stated earlier, I am nervously sensing a Hall trade. 1.) Teams know we have two SS, so by stating we are more than happy to play Hall in LF would increase his trade value. 2.) We already have 7 OFers and are being rumored to be in the market for more. 3.) If we trade Hall, we would need a backup SS who can handle the position defensively, so we are going to sign Craig Counsell.
  19. Here's the link: LINK No more Graffy, and if Hardy were to get injured again it seems as if they don't want to move Hall back to SS. (Hall on his way out? So we sign a capable SS defensively?)
  20. Rivera has to clear through waivers to get assigned to AAA. Is this true? If so, I would be willing to change tunes a bit on shipping out either Miller or Rivera. Closser has to clear waivers as well, correct?
  21. Good thing about Stewart is that he will be injured/determined ineffective by late Junea and many of us will get our wish of a Hall - Gross - Hart starting outfield.
  22. Briggs, I would have no problem with shopping him of course, I just don't think we'll get a good enough return to justify diminishing our accumulated depth at catcher. I think it's wonderful to have a guy like Rivera at AAA. And also Closser. One injury of the four and one guy falls on his face, we still have two left.
  23. He is best-known in Nashville Sounds annuls as the hitter whose shattered bat impaled the arm of pitcher Rick Helling on May 27, 2005 at Greer Stadium. Interesting. He looks like a very good signing to me.
  24. Ehh...risky. IF he gets healthy, I think he could rebound nicely, though it doesn't sound like he will. I'd prefer Lofton yet, I think.
  25. I think that's actually a bit of a lowball. Years are important, and I'd have to imagine he won't sign for less than 4. With this market, I wouldn't be totally shocked to see someone go 5 years to push their offer over the edge.
