  1. I do not think you would have to add anything with Hart, in fact I think we should get something back in return. I like the idea of adding Johnson but who is playing LF for us next year if we trade Hart. The opportunity has come and past: LINK You'd think Cameron for Johnson would be something both sides should have talked about though.
  2. I sure hope that the Brewers are just going to experiment with Lawrie at catcher with the slight chance he turns out to be a natural. Give him a year to try it, it wouldn't hurt. But it does seem like the Brewers a playing a couple people out of position. Gamel to RF, Green back to 2B*, and Lawrie at 3B seems to make much more sense than their current positions. It still leaves Salome and Lucroy at catcher, obviously. (*provided he wasn't moved for lack of talent at 2B, which I don't believe was the case.)
  3. I had an old boss once named Raymond Scism. Ray Scism. No joke. He was called over the PA system all the time and it was funny every time.
  4. John Lennin killed 1000's of people Is that where the blisters on his fingers came from? (Sorry, had to.)
  5. We all understand the credibility of this source, correct?
  6. If Lamb/Hall is indeed our starting 3B platoon, I think we can expect Gamel to be up sometime in June, which would free up Hall to supersub again.
  7. Its sad that I know this isn't sarcastic. Either that, or creepy.
  8. I think Dwight's line was the funniest of that exchange. With Jim just toying with him and Dwight taking it seriously.
  9. Looks like you just edited the tags.
  10. Yup, I apologize. Its that "KC." I'll make sure I keep you too separate in my mind in the future.
  11. Please designate this thread as an "idea." I thought this was an actual rumor.
  12. They just need a stronger luxury tax. Every dollar spent on payroll over the average must be matched into a revenue sharing pool, to be divided up amongst the have-nots for the sole use of player salaries.
  13. Don't you hate Jenkins with every fiber of your being? Or am I confusing you with someone else?
  14. Jeez, you'd think Tom would learn in Journalism 101 not to use all caps in a professional piece.
  15. I don't want to trade Cameron and gain nothing for 2010. If we are going to trade Cameron I would rather get a pitcher in return than another CF. I don't think we should spend whatever we save in payroll from the deal on another pitcher. FA pitchers are in general going to be very expensive. The contract is going to look ugly within a couple years. I think the downgrade from Cameron to Melky would be about equal to the upgrade a guy like Fuentes would provide. Sure, we give the payroll flexibility right back, but we gain longer player control, plus potential in Melky, as well as a decent pitching prospect. So if those two moves are dependent on each other, I think the overall dealings would be successful. As for starting pitching, I think if we can't net a Johnson or Moyer to a very short contract, we just have to bite the bullet and shed a prospect to get the SP we need, hopefully one under control for a few season and/or cheaper than market.
  16. I wonder why Coke wasn't challenged more in the minors. He did well at all his stops, but he was always a bit old for his level. He's definitely not a LOOGY though, he's been pretty balanced v both LH and RH hitters throughout his minor league career.
  17. I had been a casual fan in the 90's, raised to root for the Brewers. In either 2000 or 2001 (I distinctly remember this was during a radio broadcast of a Henry Blanco AB), I remarked that I would never become a big baseball fan. (I wonder if Henry Blanco had anything to do with that...) A few years later, after basically taking a break from baseball, for some reason I became excited to hear the Brewers were going to call up J.J. Hardy for opening day. I went online to learn more about him, and got in somewhat of an argument on the ESPN forums about Hardy. I kept researching more and more, found Brewerfan, and more and more learning, and here I am now - a diehard for the foreseeable future.
  18. If Melky can find his minor league line of .296 / .349 / .420 / .769, and play average defense (I've read mixed reviews), I guess he's fine. He was young at every level in the minors, and was thrown early into the mix in the bigs, so he may have potential to outperform that line in his prime, but consider me skeptical he'll be anything special - hasn't shown anything in the majors yet. This doesn't say good things about the internal opinion on how we'll fare next year. Its a fairly clear downgrade for 2009.
