  1. hardy is a replacement for hunter strickland, but strickland wasn't placed on the injured list on the same day as the other two. thus, technically, the brewers might not have an outbreak as defined by mlb. doesn't seem fair, as three guys were deemed unavailable all on the same day.
  2. blaine hardy has his contract selected. he has one minor league option remaining, but has been outrighted to the minor leagues before. however, because he's a replacement player in what might be deemed a covid-19 breakout, he might be exempt from outright waivers if the brewers wish to return him to the minor leagues. this writer is unsure if the threshold of three players can be met by one of them testing negative but being out for close contact. the roster is at 38 players, with five players on the special covid-19 injured list.
  3. blaine hardy has his contract selected. he has an option remaining. unsure if when one of the relievers he is replacing on the roster is cleared to come back, whether or not he can removed from the 40-man roster without outright waivers.
  4. he's only had 35 at-bats at the class aaa level. feliciano needs to stay with nashville.
  5. justin topa continues his rehab assignment with class aaa nashville.
  6. the brewers will be placing three players on the special covid-19 injured list. two roster spots will be filled by the activation of john curtiss and daniel norris. the third vacancy will not be filled, which means no taxi squad on this road trip.
  7. the brewers will be placing jake cousins, jandel gustave and hunter strickland on the special covid-19 injured list. as a result, all have been removed from the 40-man roster. the roster is at 37 players, with five players on the special covid-19 injured list.
  8. jandel gustave also out as a close contact, just as jace peterson was to christian yelich. not sure if this qualifies as an outbreak. if it does, then the replacement players would not be subject to outright waivers when returning them to the minor leagues. thus, any non-roster player could come up as a replacement, be added to the 40-man (and 26-man) and when it's time to remove him from the roster because one of cousins, gustave or strickland, they can just return him to the minor leagues, without risk of losing him.
  9. so, are you suggesting that this thread go back to being titled "brewer's offense"?
  10. when a player burns an option, it just means that he has one fewer option remaining the next season.
  11. You are including Lobstein, correct? If I count the number of players on the Brewers website https://www.mlb.com/brewers/roster/40-man, I get 39. Lobstein is not listed, but there is no history of him being DFA'd on the transaction page. The Sounds roster still lists him on the 40 man roster https://www.milb.com/nashville/roster. Clearly he is flying under the radar even in the Brewers eyes. lobstein is still on optional assignment with the brewers, and thus, is still on the 40-man roster.
  12. trades are no longer allowed for 40-man roster players, or for players designated for assignment. because that means of acquisition is no longer an option for clubs, it's going to harder to sneak players through outright waivers without them being claimed. either you're signed as a free agent, or you're claimed off outright waivers. that's the only way to change organizations and land on a club's 40-man roster until the offseason.
  13. two new bullpen acquisitions may be activated as soon as tonight. a reminder that jandel gustave has an option.
  14. Guessing he's been on the taxi squad with Cain's injury and long rehab. he was on the 7-day injured list from 4 - 25 june (hip flexor) and again on the injured list (injury unknown to this writer) from 15 - 30 july. and if there still is a taxi squad, it's only on milwaukee road trips.
  15. corey ray is in the starting lineup for nashville tonight and is making his first appearance in a game in over a month.
  16. I am counting 40 after the trade so don't believe a 40 man move is necessary until Jace is back. Looks like the official Brewers site doesn't list Kyle Lobstein on the 40 man roster for some reason. thanks. i was going crazy after your post because i knew that the roster was full when jace peterson and christian yelich were removed, which put it at 38. three players acquired since put it at 41.
  17. the club has seven days to try to outright him to the minors or release him. if he clears outright waivers, he will be forced to accept the minor league assignment.
  18. patrick weigel has been designated for assignment. the club has seven days to try to outright him to the minors or release him. if he clears outright waivers, he will be forced to accept the minor league assignment. the 40-man roster is at capacity, with two players on the special covid-19 injured list.
  19. john curtiss is acquired from miami for a minor leaguer. he has one minor league option remaining, but has been outrighted to the minor leagues before. the 40-man roster is currently at 41 players, with two additional players on the special covid-19 injured list. the brewers have yet to announce a corresponding move.
  20. keston hiura has been optioned to class aaa nashville.
  21. eduardo escobar is now wearing #5. tim lopes takes #10.
  22. don't want fans to lose sight of tim lopes changing his number today.
  23. he cannot be optioned. if the brewers desired to send him to the minor leagues, he would have to clear outright waivers and but he still could refuse the minor league assignment.
  24. john curtiss has one minor league option remaining, but has been outrighted to the minor leagues before.
  25. daniel norris appears to one one minor league option remaining, and has never been outrighted to the minor leagues. he does have enough major league service time to refuse an optional assignment.
