  1. it has been reported that justin topa will be recalled today and added to the expanded 28-man roster.
  2. i haven't seen any reports on how angel perdomo has been progressing with his injury. last time, he was on the injured list for a month. could he be a candidate for the 60-day injured list to open up a 40-man roster spot? we may find out soon.
  3. check that on the 29th man . . . apparently for the second game only.
  4. daniel vogelbach sighting in san francisco yesterday. the club plans to activate him today.
  5. brewers sign keon broxton to a minor league deal. he's eligible for postseason play.
  6. in the month of august, jace peterson's slash line: .367 / .475 / . 510
  7. the answer is yes. if the brewers play any regular season doubleheaders in september or october, they will be able to activate a 29th man.
  8. I would generally agree with this. Escobar is due back this weekend, I think the Brewers will try to manage with Urias/Adames/Wong/Reyes/Peterson at the 3 non-1b infield spots until he's back. Lopes doesn't serve a purpose at this point barring multiple additional injuries...knocking on wood. kolten wong is expected to go on paternity leave, perhaps as soon as the weekend series vs. his former team. if eduardo escobar isn't activated by then, and tim lopes has already been dfa'd, do you want keston hiura as the paternity leave replacement?
  9. neither are on the 40-man roster. whom do you remove?
  10. OK, could not remember if that was only for pitchers. Didn't it use to be you could avoid the limit and call them up sooner but the player accrued service time for the entire period they were sent down? i believe that you are thinking about the situation, where at season's end, if a player spends less than 20 days total on optional assignment, he does not burn that option and is credited with major league service time and pay. mlb announced that the requisite stay for pitchers was to increase from 10 days to 15 days before the start of the 2020 season, but that rule was aborted due to covid.
  11. players sent on optional assignment must meet a requisite stay of at least 10 days in the minor leagues, unless replacing a player on leave or the injured list.
  12. the plan now is to activate peralta on friday. means that the club can carry someone else wednesday and thursday.
  13. the brewers plan to activate eduardo escobar during the weekend series vs. the cardinals.
  14. the brewers plan to activate freddy peralta friday.
  15. infielder renato núñez has been signed to a minor league contract and had been assigned to class aaa nashville. if added to the major league roster, he is out of minor league options, and has been outrighted to the minor leagues before. he is eligible for postseason play.
  16. freddy peralta isn't expected to start 1 or 2 september, so assume that he won't be activated immediately when rosters expand to 28 players.
  17. freddy peralta isn't expected to start 1 or 2 september, so assume that he won't be activated immediately.
  18. On the field playing catch is something that isn’t likely to aggravate a hamstring injury, but doesn’t give any indication that Escobar will be close to returning within a week. escobar has played catch multiple times and has hit. there's not an urgency to rush him back, but an absence of only two weeks isn't out of the question.
  19. neither of your suggestions are on the 40-man roster. you've implied that hoby milner would be dfa'd, but who else?
  20. four at-bats for keston hiura tonight with class aaa nashville (playing second base). four strikeouts. in august, he's batting .091 with 15 strikeouts in 33 at-bats.
  21. aaron ashby is optioned before hoby milner? i'd be grooming ashby for the postseason roster, and not with class aaa nashville.
  22. I think their logic in a lot of things is that good defense is more consistent and gives a player a higher floor than good offense, especially with players that aren't going to get regular at bats. You could bring up one of those bat first corner infield types and maybe they hit and maybe they won't, but with Reyes you know absolutely he's going to do a good job at one half of the game. This is why JBJ's struggles don't bother me too much, because you just know if he wasn't here they would have a light hitting defensive specialist on the roster and getting a start a week or so just because that's the kind of baseball counsell and stearns play. when you give away outs on the offensive side, it doesn't drain your pitching staff and only hurts you for today's potential win. give away outs on the defensive side, and it drains your pitching staff, and takes away from tomorrow's potential win as well. i'm fine with pablo reyes while willy adames and eduardo escobar are ailing.
