  1. Awesome! Looking forward to it!
  2. I can understand how conditioning players helps prevent injury, but 137 pitches is just too much. Keep in mind that the last 15 pitches put far more stress on the arm than the first 15. I really think college coaches should be more responsible when using their pitchers.
  3. I understand the desire to balance out free agent compensation but I dont think Tier 3 teams should be "punished." I'd like a system where no one loses picks. CJ, you remember when you and I discussed a compensation system based off of the one the NFL uses? Like you said, MLB would probably do away with the current system first but I'd love to see compensatory picks assigned based off of free agents lost / acquired. Of course, Elias would have to revamp their outdated rating system.

  5. Great stuff as always. How far do you see Neil Ramirez potentially falling? I'd love to think the Dodgers have a chance at him at #39.
  6. I'd be very pleased with Parker or McGeary (Who reminds me of a less physically mature Kershaw). While Parker's only listed at 6'1, I've heard his delivery is smooth and "no-effort." I doubt the other three would be there. And I do think Atlanta will take either Heyward or Smoker.
  7. I read about the Brewers being interested in Moustakas on Sunday and was kind of surprised that they'd be linked to a Boras client. Doesnt that conflict with the Brewer's reluctance to exceed slot recommendations? Also, heard any rumblings about the Dodgers? Other than that mock on scout.com I havent seen LA linked to McGeary.
  8. 14 scouting directors? Wow. I've heard rumblings of him going as high as #5 to Baltimore, with their history of taking Canadians (Erik Bedard and Adam Loewen). After that last outing, it doesnt seem so far-fetched. As for the other article, I would have liked to see how Sam Runion was doing. He's a guy I'd like the Dodgers to look at in the supp first / second.
  9. Awesome, CJ. I'll be looking forward to your article.
  10. I'd say for hitters, poor plate discipline kills hitting prospects the most.
  11. I'm interested in how hard he's throwing. His control has been impressive and getting those groundballs is always good. Given how many hits he's allowed, it seems like he's content to pitch to contact, which isnt necessarily a bad thing.
  12. Great find. It looks a little old (a few months) but always fun to try to project where guys will go.
  13. Wow, great interview. Sounds like a tremendously mature and forthcoming kid. Whoever drafts him will have no regrets.
  14. I know this thread is about the Brewers' pick, so I'm going to have to steer it off course. CJ, do you think Nevin Griffith would be there at #20? Also, how do you grade his secondary pitches?
  15. Welcome back CJ and thanks for the writeup. I like how Wieters catches the ball where it's pitched; that's important to me. Sounds like his future is behind the plate.
  16. Kyle Russell has two homers today, tying the single season record for Texas with 20.
  17. At #20 I'm thinking Josh Smoker is the most likely pick. He's very polished, has very good secondary stuff and sits in the low 90s with his fastball. Jack McGeary seems like the type of pitcher White loves, but his commitment to Stanford would be hard to buy-out. Looks like I never finished my draft preview. I'll get it posted today.
  18. Speak of the devil. BaseballAmerica has a feature on Phillipe Aumont (And Josh Vitters) today, detailing his recent success in a trip to Florida. The article requires a subscription, so I'll just post a paragraph: www.baseballamerica.com/o...63623.html http://www.baseballamerica.com/images/paumont07428309bs.jpg
  19. Since you brought him up, where would you rank Logan White?
  20. LaPorta's OPS is a shade under 1.500. Wow.
  21. Have there been any studies done on pitchers that says 6'5 is the cutoff? Not being confrontational, just wondering what made you pick that height.
  22. I was surprised Vandy's coach didnt let Price pitch all 12 innings. Decent line for him: 7.2 IP, 8 hits, 3 ER, 2 BB, 10 K's. But how impressive has Casey Weathers been this spring? 32 strikeouts and 7 walks in 20.2 IP. Looks like he's a solid first rounder.
  23. Not only that, but Brackman is reportedly being advised by Scott Boras. Aumont isnt as tall, since Brackman is 6'10 and Aumont is 6'7, but even 6'7 guys have problems repeating their deliveries, which is a knock on Aumont. Still, I love the mid to low 3/4 arm angle, since it creates a tremendous amount of sink on his pitches. I doubt he'd last into the supp first, but if he was there, I'd love the Dodgers to take a chance on him.
  24. I agree with Aumont being more of a thrower than a pitcher at this stage. He just hasnt had the chance to play as much as kids in warm weather states. My two favorites for the Dodgers' pick at #20 seem to form a paradox: you have the uber-polished lefty in Smoker and the tall, projectible hard-throwing righty in Aumont. With White's draft history, it would seem that Smoker would be the obvious choice, but anything is possible...
  25. CJ, what are your feelings on Phillipe Aumont? I recently read MiLB's draft profile on him and it was very complimentary. He's raw, but sounds like he has huge upside.
