  1. I am not real stat savy, I only know the basic stuff. I know that .SLG % is out of .4000, but how do you figure it out, and could someone please explain FIP?
  2. I want this guy bad, I know we would have to overpay bad for him and two years from now we will all be mad because we gave him to much money. But I would crap my pants if this actually happened, once you get into a bidding war with the Mets, it is over!http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  3. I would rather have King than Romero, but I don't think that DM is going after either one. At least King could be used for more than one or two batters.
  4. Obviously Melvin is not set on the fact that Hardy and Weeks are healthy and ready to play, otherwise, he wouldn't be trying to trade and sign guys like this.
  5. I would love to get Crain, but I don't think the Twins would ever do that without Melvin throwing in Sarfate or Gwyyn instead of Hendrickson. (I don't think anyone wants him.)
  6. I would have signed him for 3yrs and 20 mil, I thought he would be a lot more expensive than that.
  7. I can't see PIT wanting to pay someone that much money for only one year. It makes sense for Milwaukee because they only need him for one year, but PIT could use him for a lot longer than that.
  8. Right now it doesn't really look like we will be able to land Lieber either.
  9. I'm guessing more than that, Lilly got $10 million and has a career 162 Avg. ERA of 4.60, While Marquis has one of 4.55, granted Lilly is a lefty and has been an all star, but he won't come for very cheap.
  10. It was just reported that Doug Melvin of the Brewers and Mark Shapiro of the Indians are very close to swinging a deal that sends RP D. Turnbow, CF T. Gwyyn Jr., and OF Brady Clark to Cleveland for CF Grady Sizemore and SP Paul Byrd. The Brewers are really looking for a solid centerfielder while the Indians are really in need of a set up man that fits thier budget, they plan to use Borowski as the closer, and Turnbow as the eighth inning guy.
  11. Ya, that would never happen, but it would be nice.
  12. I'll trade for LeCroy...http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  13. The reason why I like him is because he is a lefty, fairly young, and he would want to come here. He also has talent and Mike Maddux could shape him up in no time.
  14. www.baseball-reference.com/t/taschja01.shtml When he pitched in Milwaukee I thought he was fairly impressive.
  15. I'm not really excited about this deal, why would we give up Mench and Turnbow for a one year rental on a guy who is far past his prime? I understand boosting the pitching and all, but I don't think that Lieber is all that big of an upgrade over Villanueva or Jackson. I would much rather see them trade Turnbow/Mench/Jenkins for pitchers that can help the Brewers past this year. Now that being said, I don't expect to get top pitching arms in return either, there has to be a happy medium.
  16. According to the article, if Gillick doesn't make a deal with Chicago, then the Mench/Lieber deal is off, is that about right?
  17. There's no maybe about it you're crazy, it's an interesting thought, but I want no part of it.
  18. That's because Dean Taylor is in their front office.
  19. That's is name, and I think he is fairly young as well, just to lazy to look it up at the moment.
  20. If we trade to SF I want to get that bullpen pitcher that was born in Milwaukee in the deal too. Someone help me on the name "Tauschner" something like that, he is a lefty and he would want to come to the Brewers I think, plus we need another southpaw in the pen.
  21. If that could actually happen, it would possibly be the best Brewers trade in the history of the team. The only problem is I don't think that anyone would want Turnbow, maybe Boston would just becuase Papelbon is in the rotation, but I still think they would want someone like Borowski or Weathers. But Borowski failed his physical I saw on ESPN, so maybe that wouldn't work.
  22. I must be having a brain fart, the only Ford I can think of was Matt Ford, and I thought he was released a few years ago.
  23. Give them Jenkins, they would eat his contract, he isn't a righty, but he is better than Cliff Floyd or Luis Gonzalez at this point. At the plate and with the glove.
  24. Same here. This is all implied about Hall moving, Stewert was an internet rumor, so that's false. I don't understand why we always want to trade our best player. Sexson and Lee and Overbay made sense, but Hall is Brewers property until 2009, so why move him, that makes no sense at all.
  25. I'm fine with trading Hall for Cabrera, the only problem is it will take a whole lot more than that, and I am not willing to give that much up. You will need at least Hall and another Major LEague player plus prospects.
