  1. At this point, we pretty much have to win out. Rockies can go 1-2 - and we would need to go 4-0. That would tie us for the last wildcard - forcing a one-game playoff (which would get us to another one-game playoff!). If the Rockies go 0-3 the rest of the way, we could go 3-1 and force a tie - or go 4-0 to win the spot outright. Sadly, the Rockies finish out against the Dodgers, who have home field clinched - so they don't have a huge incentive to play their best players. They don't have the best record nailed down yet, which would determine Home Field advantage in the WS. I'm hoping they still want to chase that record still.
  2. Or, he slipped on the bag. Does everything have to be overanalyzed?
  3. Who is suggesting we just give up on him now? The point is, his April was sick, absolutely video game material, but since then, outside of a decent July, he has been nothing more than average to below average. Not suggesting we give up on him, cut him, or anything like that, just stating what has happened. Hopefully, if we have a chance to trade him for something decent, or have the chance to pick up a full time replacement at 1B this off season, we do it, and not think that April will ever happen again. It might, but there is a better chance that it does not... Of COURSE there's a better chance of something historic NOT happening than happening. Otherwise records would get broken much more regularly!
  4. Bean a half dozen hitters, just to see Maddon explode, and torture the bleacher bums!
  5. Spring Training lineup change time! Get Bandy, Phillips, Sogard and Villar in there now. I'm confident they can't blow a 14 run lead!
  6. Would it be greedy to ask for a slaughtering AND a no-hitter?
  7. I don't know about anyone else, but it's always more satisfying at the end of a big inning like that to leave nobody on base. Everyone who reached, scored!
  8. few things make me giggle like a schoolgirl like putting up a crooked number against the Cubbies at Wrigley!
  9. It's like a unicorn, kissing Bigfoot! Perez AND Broxton walked in the same inning... Now what do you have? Lol ...In Narnia!
  10. How is "hey, ump, could ya take a look at that play?" ANY different to a challenge?
  11. I watched the Pirates game on MLBtv last night, and sweet Jesus, they have awful broadcasters. Dull, flat, boring, with zero personality. We absolutely have better than a huge number of other teams I've surmised over the years.
  12. The constant whining is getting tiresome, that is all I'm saying... That could apply to a lot, to be honest. Villar playing. WHERE Villar is playing, Braun's days off, Brian flippin' Anderson and whether he's any good or not, CC's bunting decisions etc. Some very tired dead horses, lately...
  13. In the context of "if you can put your pitches on the outside corner at the knees with regularity" you are heading for the Hall of Fame.
  14. Even Cub fans hate him. In that case he's awesome!
  15. I know there are 162 of these things, but tonight feels like it has extra significance - not least since Bucs and Cards are also losing.
