  1. Chris Turner of the Yankees hit a HR off Maddux at Turner Field in 2000, one of only 4 he managed in his career.
  2. Bonds, Sheffield, Giambi, Sosa. There endeth the deserving recipients of any booing IMO. I agree that booing your own players lowers us to the level of Phillies, Cubs or Yankees fans and I hate us being compared to their "fans".
  3. We'd just slot the hitting behemoth that is Tony Graffanino into the DH spot to even things up! Simple.
  4. Added to the fact that he's like a stick insect with a goatee with that weird slow sinewy windup, and there's a whole bunch of deception going on...
  5. Huge Chemical Brothers fan, but I have to say that, so far, the new album "We Are The Night" is their weakest for a while. Lots of noodling, but not much they haven't done before, and better at that. It might need a few more listens. The new Polyphonic Spree on the other hand. It's like Bowie and Flaming Lips had a weird night in the studio fuelled by ecstacy and Strongbow and just kept the tapes running... I think their show at the Rave on the 9th of July might be epic!
  6. I dunno if they still do it anymore, but the best fireworks I've attended in the city were at Hart Park. We lay on our backs on the football field looking up and, with the fireworks being set off right outside, it was awesome! All I needed was a good buzz and some Pink Floyd and I'd have been in heaven!
  7. Disney has exploited children for profit? Say it ain't so, Joe....
  8. Am I the only one that gets annoyed by the whole appeal process in baseball? A team appeals against MLB disciplinary rulings to stall the whole process until it better suits them. Usually the player picks up a little niggle in the interim or decides he's tired, so the team drops the appeal process and he sits out his suspension on a day he probably would have sat out anyway. MLB needs to start increasing some of the suspensions, especially in cases such as, for example, a player has a Piniella-esque blowup. That would make teams think twice I'd suggest...
  9. I haven't chimed in yet about how awesome Woogie's IGTs are, but I felt that today was perfect, given that we are back to having pictures of the opposing pitcher looking forlorn! Nice one Woog!
  10. Hey thanks Brett. I knew the throbbing collective brain of Brewerfan.net nation would come through in the clutch!
  11. Hey! I saw the DAD shirt too. Cool. I was there in 428 with my nephew (wearing his Little League Twins cap), brother in law and my nephew's 2 whiny friends who wouldn't stop asking us to buy them stuff - and wanted to go home after 9. Thankfully (or maybe not, considering the result) I was able to bum a ride with my buddy and his wife in 415, so my enjoyment wasn't ruined by a precocious 7 year old. Happy times...
  12. Holding Biggio out so he can hit 3000 in Houston or old man's bones the day after an extra innings game in Texas? You be the judge!
  13. I've noticed some of the Brewers caps worn by fans have the date 1989 on the back of them. Am I being completely dense in not knowing what this stands for?
  14. The episode where Patrick Stewart is describing his ideas for a movie where various female characters' clothes fall off is priceless. "She tries to cover up, but it's too late - I've seen everything!" I heard a rumor of a 3rd season, however.
  15. 5. Yost is a terrible manager. You must have seen the posts on it. LaRussa must read BF.Net...
  16. Oh, come on. A month ago Corey couldn't get a game. You think he gives a crap about how his approach will be affected by hitting leadoff or 5th? Now we are just making stuff up to be argumentative...
  17. All I can say is, thank goodness we are winning the division. I don't want to even imagine the carnage around here if we were cellar dwellars right now. We get more like Cubs fans every day...
  18. In the last 5 seasons the Braves were no hit in a season in which they won their division easily and the Yankees were no hit in a season in which they went to the World Series, so the "OMG this is so embarrassing" crap is, frankly, embarrassing. Verlander was filthy and deserves all the praise for the performance. I thought he got lucky with a couple of the generous strike zone calls by the umps late in the game, but, hey, they probably never saw a no-hitter either. We haven't been playing well lately, that's a fact, but at our best we weren't winning tonight. Sucks, move on...
  19. #4? Are you thinking as Molitor or Brett Favre?
  20. Almost every time there is a "questionable" lineup it gets the treatment here, and invariably one of the targets of BF.net derision goes on to have a monster game and the Crew ends up winning. Here's hoping the "negative waves" mojo keeps on a-working...
  21. Get him a balloon ride. There's a company up near Ripon that does them all summer and the hour that you are up is just magical. It's not too expensive either - around $180 if I remember correctly...
  22. We probably have another 50 or so nights like this to look forward to (thinking positively). For god's sake let's have just a little perspective around here. Turnbow has a couple bad games and all of a sudden he's a vastly different player to the one that cruised through April mowing down hitters for fun. Sheesh! We only have 7 bullpen pitchers - if we assign them all the Dessens label and not pitch them every time they have a bad outing, we'll be down to having Wiser and Coco pitching 2 innings each every night for the rest of the season. Losing sucks, it always will, but some here are beginning to sound like a cross between Chicken Little and Phillies fans...
  23. I'm serious. Shut up. Where were you over the last month when we were winning games? God, I hate the knee-jerkiness of some of BrewerNation when we lose - even a kick-in-the-guts loss like tonight. We're gonna lose some, people.
  24. "And then I saw T.Gwynn" "Now I'm a believer!" I'll admit I was one who saw Gwynn as being on the Brewers for his DNA rather than his talent. So far this season, he's consistently proved the doubters wrong, with today being the cherry on the cake. I'm just giggly with the potential of this team. That 56 win season seems like a million years ago, doesn't it?
