  1. Overrated? This bunch... Basketball. Why don't they just start every game with the score at 90-90 with 2 minutes left, because, let's face it, that's the only point worth watching. During the AS Weekend the only remotely interesting thing was the dunks and tricks part - now that's entertaining. Pickles. Cucumbers soaked in pure evil I tells ya. The Matrix Trilogy. Sure, pretty to look at with slo-mo bullets and fancy computer effects, but completely lacking in substance. No wait, the soundtrack's good. 2 and 3 in particular are no-plot, deliberately obtuse dreck. Blondes. They may have more fun, but that's only because it would be pointless trying to have a conversation with them... Bob Dylan. Yup, I've said it before, but if he just gave his incredible songs to others to sing, I'd like him a lot more. See also: Neil Young. Any Star Wars movie not made in the 70's or 80's. Ooooooh, isn't CGI fabulous? What the bejeesus is Jar-Jar Binks about? Oh my god, Hayden Christensen is quite ridiculously bad as an actor. Politicians. Not one cares about anyone other than themselves. Slasher horror movies. Lowest common denominator film-making at its worst. Babies. Sure, I'm pleased that you've increased the population, but did having the child drain every single other topic of conversation from your body? And why do you feel the need to tell me in-depth biological details about bodily fluids, functions or other developments like I was your doctor? Root Beer/Dr.Pepper. They must have the very best marketing ever, cos all I taste is medicine. Jam Bands. You know a band must be bad when people have to take drugs just to enjoy them. Coffee. It tastes good and all, but I don't get how some people "can't function without it". NASCAR. The US "Driving Round In Circles Inside Large Advertising Billboards" Championships.
  2. You can tell it's baseball when.... Something other than the Packers is on the front page of the sports section. You hear the phrase "same old Brewers" for the first time in the year. You drive by Miller Park and look at the display board to see if there's news on it. A non baseball-loving friend asks you "so, do the Brewers have a chance this year?" You start listening to The Score in the gaps when no Milwaukee talk sports are on, just to hear baseball talk - even if it is Cubs and Sox. You linger just a little longer when thumbing past FSN on the remote - god knows there's never anything worth watching in the off-season! Fantasy Baseball drafts start.
  3. Wait a minute, Snatch and Lock, Stock get mentions yet the 2 movies that they owe an enormous debt to are unloved? Those movies? The magnificent Long Good Friday and original version of Get Carter. Class, both of 'em.
  4. If Prince jacks 63 and Braun wins the batting title, I'll boldly predict that the Cubs won't win the WS.
  5. Coast for the views, Coast for the ambience, but most of all, Coast for the food. Mmmmmmmm.....popovers....
  6. One of my heroes and the most influential DJ the world has ever known, the late great John Peel.
  7. Is it film director John Boorman?
  8. So, from this thread, we can glean the following: If it works, Simba is a genius - way to go Ted! If it doesn't, Yost is a dunderhead - what the heck were you thinking, Nedly?
  9. Congratulations Sheffield. From the argument that my enemy's enemy is my friend, you've just given me the only reason to like Boras.
  10. Not all of us on this board grew up ingrained in the ways of the Crew and bleeding Brewer Blue - yet are no less passionate about the team. Mark A admits he will always have the Yankees as his upbringing and that which fired his love for the game. However, I never doubt for a second that he cares just as much as any tailgating, Yost-baiting, Sheff-hating Brewerfan. I'm just so thankful we have him, and not, oh,I don't know, Angelos!
  11. Can I be the first to point out that he might be unsigned because he's a Type A Douche?
  12. That 480ft blast off the Time Warner sign still gives me a fuzzy feeling in my gentleman's area, but, hey, what do I know? I have a shirt with "Kieschnick" on it, so I guess I'm just a romantic...
  13. Is Bonds being blackballed? I think you'll find these days it's politically correct to call it "African-American Balled"...
  14. As did I. I thought it should read "Phillies punk Brett Myers" for greater accuracy...
  15. Check out the car auctions, there are bargains to be had. Just make sure you take a buddy who knows about cars if you don't.
  16. In which universe does Weezer count as emo? And Groove Armada, The Prodigy and Royksopp could never under any circumstances be construed as embarrassing to admit to, which is what I take guilty pleasures to mean!
  17. Some guilty pleasures Glen Campbell Abba ELO Kylie Laura Branigan (particularly "Gloria" and "Self Control") Flashdance Soundtrack Mika The Monkees The Sweet Neil Diamond Pet Shop Boys Nuggets, one and all...
  18. I'm just off for a quick Eartha...
  19. Some valid and wonderful themes. However, you're all wrong. This is the greatest TV Theme ever. ? ??
  20. ....and so it begins.
  21. Fantasy NASCAR. Yup, now I've heard it all. What's next, Fantasy Snowblowing?
  22. For me, the trouble with Nickelback is precisely that such formulaic pap is so popular. They are rock in the way that Kenny G is jazz, or Soulja Boy is hip hop... I don't hate much in the music world (I even like Muse, And That!), but I loathe and detest Nickelback in ways I can't even rationalize. Hip doesn't enter into it, heck, I like Abba ferchrissakes.
  23. And Mark Attanasio owns the Brewers, but he lives somewhere else. All the Admirals thing guarantees is that Ben will get a game with them, if he chooses! Regardless of what happens, I think this is Sheets last season here. Players just seem to love that open market testing deal they have going on...
  24. Nay, nay and thrice nay! I don't want anyone to have the DH, much less the Brewers. I'd be all for a move to a 4 divisions of 4 teams like some have suggested rather than a move to the AL. And for all those who don't want to play boring teams, how quickly we forget that only a couple of years ago WE were among the most boring teams in baseball.
  25. yup, but from someone else, I fear...
