  1. "Keeping the Sonics in Seattle is our #1 priority."** --Clay Bennett, 2006 ** - not an actual quote
  2. You can be fat and look like Bam Bam Bigelow, or you can be fat and look like John Candy. I know which one I would take in a fight (yes, I know they are both deceased http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif )
  3. Bumping the thread to share this (courtesy of The Yost Infection). This shirt is being sold outside Wrigley Field. I don't understand...do they want to sign Robert Horry? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/6d31514390dba46897230c18f3f5de217b43953.jpg
  4. Let me clarify that I'm not about to go into "sky is falling" mode about Prince's early struggles. I still expect him to mash and put up MVP-like numbers. But I do agree with twobrewers' comments about his physical condition.
  5. twobrewers, I completely agree with you about Fielder. The same thought was going through my mind as I was watching last night's game. I have no real opinion about his diet (we've already had a thread about the pros and cons) but Prince looks terrible. Plus with LaPorta coming up, and the Boras thing - it really wouldn't bother me if he didn't sign the extension. Braun I think has more value, but he is looking like Francoeur Jr. out there.
  6. I believe somebody coined the nickname "McDung" a few days ago, which I found both humorous and fundamentally true.
  7. Well, technically, it was the baseball stat of the old millenium too. It just took awhile for people to understand how important it was. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. I thought it was funny, sveum. Now, off to the liquor store so I can get my "Gullikson" on...
  9. Perhaps the vocation of "MLB relief pitcher" was a poor choice for somebody with such a fragile mental state.
  10. They just completely whiffed on the last out of the inning (top 3rd - Griffey lineout). Predictably, it was because they were focusing on some random guy in the stands. Pathetic.
  11. Two thoughts: 1) That's a total cop-out by the Mets. 2) I really hope that somebody posts video of the night where they actually play Astley at the stadium. Want to know what the fan reaction is like.
  12. If it weren't for Bugs and Cranks, I never would have learned how to perform "the surgery" on my 5950 hats. Note: I lucked out and found a guy on Ebay that had some of the old 100% wool 5950's in stock, so I snatched up a Brewers one. Fits like a glove. Wearing it to Wrigley this afternoon.
  13. Rumor has it that Crean was on the fence about leaving, but IU agreed to include a top-of-the-line tanning bed and 30 cases of Diet Pepsi as part of the compensation package.
  14. Sheets had a very nice start as well. 6.1 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 2 BB, 7 K. Can't really ask for much more than that. Edit: tr beat me to it by a split-second.
  15. I don't want to violate any board rules, but let's just say that there are streams out there if you're crafty. The ladder match was pretty sweet. Can't wait for Flair vs. Michaels.
  16. why is golf the only sport where spectators must maintain absolute silence at all times? They ask for quiet in tennis, too, and honestly that one confuses me a lot more than golf. Tangentially, you would think that in the 21st century someone would be able to invent an affordable camera that didn't make any noise when it captured the image. And if these exist already (I am admittedly ignorant of new camera technology), why not make these the only ones permitted at PGA events?
  17. I'll continue the Andrew Siciliano love-fest...got to watch the Red Zone Channel one weekend when I was visiting my parents, and thought it was great. He's naturally funny, no forced jokes like Stu Scott and some of his ilk over at ESPN.
  18. I was told there would be no math on this portion of the test. My brain hurts. I'll go the sabermatrician's route and say that I'm not all that concerned about prior year win totals, or wins in general.
  19. Yeah, it would take a combination of Brian Anderson kicking Santa Claus in the ribs and strangling a puppy while Bill Schroeder looks on, wearing a t-shirt that says "I heart Osama bin Laden" for me to stop watching Brewers games on TV.
  20. Grad student at Northwestern (integrated marketing communications). Graduated from UW-Madison in '03 with a finance degree.
  21. This entire discussion reminds me of Sol Rosenberg of "Jerky Boys" fame.
  22. "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy."
  23. If Al Michaels were still calling baseball games, he would say that Kaz Matsui was out with an anus.
  24. See, I'm on the other side of the coin. I don't understand how appearing in a spring training game somehow became something you had to "earn". It's a glorified practice. Billy Crystal playing 1 game isn't going to be the difference between some AAA infielder making the Yankees' 25-man roster or not.
  25. I read that for his 40th birthday, Bob Costas was allowed to manage an A's spring training game as a gift from Tony LaRussa. But what about the sanctity of the game? Won't someone think of the children? Pretty soon you'll be telling me that the players don't care about winning the Grapefruit League!
