  1. OK, I'll bite.... "We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be a Milwaukee Brewer, and we're talking about practice. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about practice. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it's my last but we're talking about practice man. How silly is that? ... Now I know that I'm supposed to lead by example and all that but I'm not shoving that aside like it don't mean anything. I know it's important, I honestly do but we're talking about practice. We're talking about practice man. We're talking about practice. We're talking about practice. We're not talking about the game. We're talking about practice. When you come to Miller Park, and you see me play, you've seen me play right, you've seen me give everything I've got, but we're talking about practice right now. ... Hey I hear you, it's funny to me too, hey it's strange to me too but we're talking about practice man, we're not even talking about the game, when it actually matters, we're talking about practice ... How the hell can I make my teammates better by practicing?"
  2. Look who their father is.....are you really surprised?
  3. When I have children, I'll teach them about Barry Bonds much the way Bob Costas described him.....one of the greatest players of all time who got an inauthentic boost and then became a superhuman player. I despise the man, as much for his off-field behavior as for his assault on the most cherished record in American sports.
  4. Freaking Bonds....go to hell.
  5. There's only a handful of players on the active roster that I have any faith in whatsoever.
  6. Check the Issues forum, there's a thread about the avatar. It seems like it was a big misunderstanding.
  7. I think this needs to be emphasized again. The issue at hand is not the armor itself, it's the mechanics of said armor. This has nothing to do with protection from getting hit by pitches. Since MLB approves the piece of equipment, it isn't "cheating" (although I would argue that anything meant to tamper with the integrity of the sport is, in fact, cheating). But it's more than likely that the guy from MLB that examines equipment like this just sees an elbow pad, and that there's been no examination of the potential benefits caused by wearing it. I'm no engineer, so I have no idea if what the author says is true. But he seems legit - published in Time, SI, and the Wall St. Journal, and currently on an MLB team's payroll to study mechanics.
  8. Geez, that's a little extreme, eh? Don't know where all the hostility is coming from (although the baseball we've all witnessed recently isn't doing wonders for the overall tone on the board lately).
  9. Question for the legal beagles out there.....is it possible for Mark A. to re-negotiate this contract in any way? I believe that earlier in the season, it was revealed the the A.C. Nielsen company had screwed up and this caused a major impact on the Brewers' TV ratings. I'm sure that this could be used as a bargaining chip in some way. It's more than obvious that the Brewers are not receiving their fair share for what they provide to FSN. In fact, after the Nielsen issues had been resolved, didn't we jump to #3 in the rankings of all FSN baseball affiliates (behind STL and SEA, I believe)?
  10. Isn't it really tradition for all forms of entertainment though? When I mess up on Guitar Hero, the crowd boos. If there was an awful act on The Gong Show or Showtime at the Apollo, the crowd would boo. At least the Brewers don't have to worry about Sandman Simms shooing them off the field with a broom. The argument that several have made about "you wouldn't boo people in other walks of life" just seems to be grasping at straws.
  11. Don't hate on the whistle tip! Woot woo!
  12. I think the most important thing to note is that the Cubs haven't blown a game like this since May 25th, whereas nearly all of the crushing defeats we have experienced have been later in the season, where each game is getting more crucial. This does not make me a happy camper.
  13. I told my friend last night that if his season ERA goes under 1.50, I'm buying the jersey t-shirt.

  16. The Muzak system at work is playing Corey Hart's "Never Surrender".......and I won't. Ever.
  17. I'm sorry to say that I have lost a lot of respect for Bob Uecker after watching this clip. Not to mention Dennis Eckersley, Rickey Henderson, Greg Maddux, and Tony LaRussa. All copies of this music video should be destroyed for the sake of humanity.
  18. In-game thread? This concept is foreign to me. Please explain.
  19. Wrong....it's Capuano bobblehead day on Sunday. Weeks is in September.
  20. I think part of the problem is that we now have over 2800 members, and sometimes the "rules" remind me of the four-square court that the cool kids controlled during recess.
  21. I'm still waiting for my Interwebs daddies and mommy to tell me it's OK to like my baseball team again before I can post my true feelings on tonights' game. Wait, did I say "game"? I didn't mean that.
  22. Ironically, this is what Stalin said to his detractors. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Oh by the way, Brewers win. God bless you Geoff.
  23. IBTL And I second this wholeheartedly.
  24. Casey, that is sad to hear. I know that your dog meant a lot to you, as you mentioned him a great deal and even had a pic in your avatar. Sorry for your loss, but as you said, it was for the best if he was in pain.
